“You are truly my disciples, IF you remain faithful to my teachings” (John 8:31)

Being faithful to Jesus and His teachings means obeying His commandments!

IF anyone loves Me, he will obey My word; and My Father will love him,
and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (John 14:23)

“… you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do.
For
IF you live by its dictates, you will die (eternally).” (Romans 8:12-13)

IF through the power of the Holy Spirit you put to death the deeds
of your sinful nature, you will live (eternally).” (Romans 8:13)

“It is this Good News (the gospel) that saves you,
IF you continue to believe the message I told you” (1 Corinthians 15:1-2)

“And let us not grow weary while doing good,
for in due season we shall reap (eternal life),

IF we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9)

“He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death,
to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight —

IF indeed you continue in the faith …
and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel” (Colossians 1:22-23)

IF we endure, we shall also reign with Him.” (2 Timothy 2:12)

If we endure, faithfully obeying Jesus and His commandments, we're good to go!

“So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard,
or we may drift away from it … every act of disobedience was punished.
So what makes us think we can escape,
IF we ignore this great salvation” (Hebrews 2:1-3)

“And we are God’s house, IF we keep our courage and
remain confident in our hope in Christ” (Hebrews 3:6)

IF we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed,
we will share in all that belongs to Christ.” (Hebrews 3:14)

IF you practice these qualities you will never fall.
For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance
into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:10-11)

IF we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

IF we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

“We can be sure that we know Him,
IF we obey His commandments.” (1 John 2:3)

These are most of the obvious CONDITIONAL verses (which have “IF” in them).
But, there are many other CONDITIONAL NT verses which have no “IF” in them.

These NT verses (plus many others which have been posted) PROVE:
Salvation is a process in which believers must co-operate with God!

I certainly agree we must keep these commandments.

I think it would be a good conversation to discuss HOW we keep these commandments.

How do you keep these commandments?

Bad news all round then. Only Jesus lived that kind of life. I'm glad that my eternal destiny is tied to Christ and and what He has done, not to your misinterpretations and selective quoting of God's word.

It's the Lord's faithful intercession for us, His pilgrim people, that preserves! (Hebrews 7.25) :)

IMO, it's all about having the correct and acceptable heart attitude (in the eyes of God),
which is trying our best and repenting when we mess up!
To repent is to STOP doing that particular sin.

What more can we do?

As usual, folks, we have those who refuse to take God at His word.
They refuse to be obedient to the words written to (and for) us!

They prefer to believe those few verses which sound as if ...
salvation is gained via easy-believism, grace-only, hyper-grace, etc.

They refuse to RECONCILE all of the NT verses!
Which they must do ... in order to understand what it's all about.

I can say that I keep His commandments in only one way.

Any other way is a way of works and leads to failure.

1John 3:22-24
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

You notice that John says we can keep these commandments.

He then (vs23) condenses all the commandments of Jesus into 2 commandments.

To believe on the name of His Son and love one another.

Then he said, if we keep the commandments (the 2 he said) we keep the commandments and He abides in us.

The only way we can keep these commandments is by faith in Christ which will give the love we need to love one another.

If we try to keep these commandments through effort of our own we have failed and will not see the kingdom of God.

So, which do you prefer: 22 and 24, or 23?
They are quite different.

Depend entirely on Christ and the salvation that He bought for us. Some will say, "Lord Lord, didn't I....." then tell Lord Jesus what they did for Him. I will stand before Lord Jesus and declare what He has done for me. It's so easy to tell people just to stop. Cutting out sin is the least of the least of the requirements of God on our lives. We need a righteousness that exceeds the pharisees, who were most righteous in man's sight. Only Jesus is that righteous. He is the life of the born again Christian. Those who think that they are sinless do not know what sin is.

You are totally against many NT verses, which say that
you are accountable to do your part in your salvation.
You are heading in the wrong direction, my friend.

No, they just won’t listen to a stranger chopping them all up and throwing them in their faces day after day.

"After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”—John 10

How can I chop them up and thrown them in their faces?
Perhaps, by quoting dozens of NT verses ... Yes, that must be it.

The issue is what we can't do for ourselves. It's what some have been trying to tell you.

18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do. 20 And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
