I grew up in Orlando 6yrs of my child hood. I had migraine headaches every afternoon from the tropical rain storms turning into steam baths emanating from the streets and roofs; besides my wife and I cannot tolerate temps over 75 or so outside and I am an outside person and on the ground a LOT so prefer a climate which chiggers, sand fleas, many very toxic spiders and snakes, and all kinds of gross insects including fire ants do not thrive not to mention all of the extra viruses ad bacteria. FLA may be nice place to visit but .... My wife's parents here in MI are both still alive and have to be close to departing so.... And we absolutely love the significant change in seasons including the snow, ... I would love to increase my net spending worth thousands of dollars, but.... I have invested most of my adult contributions to society including risking my life multiple times in MI but on the other hand, I am not getting the message from our govt that they appreciated it. AL would be our optimal choice due to no taxation targeted at Sr. Cit. and their RE Taxes VERY tolerable but the climate where we would go-northern border area due to best friends there- is still very hot and the winters VERY cold-in winter-foot hills of Appalachian MTs- and I have never seen so many HUGE black widows, fire ants, and wasps and the terrain is so DULL and void of ANY good sailing lakes. If they lived in S AL I might consider Gulf Shores or the FLA pan handle but that seems to be Hurricane alley and I am NOT at all one fond of the ocean shore line with all of its stinky rotten kelp, Portugeese MOWs, jelly fish, sea urchins, and sharp sea shells. The salt seems to "enhance" the aroma oh, yeah, and make you sticky all over. We are looking at a state a bit farther north, IF we ever move again after this forced move! We are just getting too old to move and we are rotten sick of it but with both of her parents alive it won't be out of state soon. And I need a wide open larger lake w/o steep shoreline, NOT a dangerous river or dammed valley, around for a good sailing breeze.
