Is anyone going to watch the Lev Parnas interview with Rachel Maddow tonight?

In answer to the title of the thread, I for one am not planning on it. I cannot stand that show it will be airing on. Hopefully someone else eventually interviews him on another show, another network. Maybe then I might watch it, even if it was on CNN, as long as it's not the Don Lemon Show. Can't stand that show either.

The judge approved an interview with Anderson Cooper. I think it happens tomorrow.

Five takeaways from Parnas's Maddow interview

1. He claimed Trump threatened to withhold more than just military aid from Ukraine

2. He implicated Attorney General Barr, saying he "had to have known everything"

3. "Trump knew exactly what was going on"

4. He alleged Pence skipped Zelenksy's inauguration because of Ukraine pressure campaign

5. He asserted that the Ukraine campaign "was never about corruption [but] strictly about Burisma"

Part 2 of Maddow's interview airs tomorrow.

Actually I ended up changing my mind about not watching it on the Maddow show and ended up watching at least 3/4 of it. And I'm glad I did. I found Maddow's interview with Parnas to actually be fair and honest, and that I found Parnas to be credible for the most part.

I listened to it as a podcast. I found Parnas’ statements to be credible also. And they are supported by the documentary evidence in the form of emails, tweets, etc.

The truly sad conclusion is that it won’t matter to most who slavishly support Trump. They will claim it to be lies. They will claim that Parnas is trying to save his skin. Worst of all, some will accept that it is all true, but it doesn’t matter because he’s ‘our boy’...

I was surprised. He's basically been made a joke of on TV because of how he looks in his pictures. He doesn't have the creepy factor I was expecting.

I wish it would have aired straight through without all the interruptions of her explaining it live, and hopefully they release the unedited version. At the end of her show she confirmed my suspicion, he wants this info out as an life insurance policy.

He supposedly arranged Skype meetings with some of Nunes staff and folks in the Ukraine.i wonder if there is evidence of that or actual video. I haven't used Skype in years, so I don't know if it can be recorded.

I agree with you that:

a) Rachel Maddow is generally painful to watch.
and
b) Overall, her interview with Parnas appeared to be fair and honest.

Congressman Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) was watching:

Amazing Lev Parnas interview on #Maddow. Also, I’m disclosing that the lawyer for @DevinNunes wrote a letter saying Rep Nunes will sue me if I didn’t apologize for saying last month that Nunes conspired with Parnas.

Devin, I’m adding to my statement: “Your pants are on fire.”

I've watched most of it today. My one complaint, though I think it is somewhat of a major one, is that I wish she would just run the full interview largely unedited and let it speak for itself. It is annoying me that she shows a 5 minute clip and then spends a minute rehashing and setting up the next 5-minute clip she is going to show. Part of what bothers me is that Maddow seems to feel the need to explain for her viewers -- seemingly thinking they aren't smart enough to understand on their own. It also makes me question what might have been said in the gaps between clips, which possibly was nothing.

In an interview like that, there may well have been breaks or times the lawyer requested the cameras turned off -- either to advise Parnas or to only go "off record" on a few items -- or it may even just be pausing without any time passing. Just that this type of reporting, just showing what appear to be clips, make it seem like they edited much of the interview. I would have preferred less breaks, and when they do interrupt to explain if they just paused the interview, that there was no edit, or the reason for the edit at that point (such as a requested break).

I watched the second part tonight and am still trying to gather my thoughts. I thought his stating that he was giving public interviews to get the truth out because he doesn't trust the US Justice Dept. under AG Barr interesting, though I'm really not sure what to think about it. A part of me wonders if his view of "Justice" is colored by his growing up under Soviet "justice," or if they really are attempting to make him a scapegoat to protect those more "valuable" to the President.

To be fair, I am taking things Mr. Parnas states with a grain of salt -- though I do tend to trust what he states when he has the documents to back him up. To give one example, that ties into the above, I found it questionable that AG Barr is heavily involved in the Ukraine situation, as Mr. Parnas alleged last night. While I do think AG Barr works frequently as Pres. Trump's "lawyer" (such as whitewashing the "summary" of the Mueller Report), beyond being the AG, at the same time I think he does attempt to curb Trump's worse impulses and stop things Trump might want to do that are illegal/immoral. So I'm skeptical of Barr's being involved with Giuliani's activities in Ukraine.

His talking about Pres. Trump trying to fire Ms. Yovanovitch as ambassador to Ukraine is another one I have issues with. From what I've seen, if Pres. Trump really wanted her fired, he would have Tweeted that she was fired and that would have done it. At the same time, I can't completely discount that he did want her fired, told Sec. Pompeo to fire her, and Pompeo explained that he couldn't do it for whatever reason -- it feels like there may be more story there.

In the end, I think there is plenty there that is quite damning and makes the case that the President abused his power in trying to get Ukraine to announce an investigation into the Bidens. It does leave a lot of questions though, ones that will require Bolton, Pompeo, Giuliani, Perry, and others to testify about if we are going to get to the bottom of things (Perry especially, give the allegations against him when he resigned and Mr. Parnas' allegations tonight).

I did find it interesting that Mr. Parnas stated he believes VP Biden is completely innocent of wrongdoing in Ukraine. I tend to believe him here, both because he seems to have more reason to claim Biden is guilty than innocent as well as how he seems to have evidence, that fits what we know, that both former Prosecutors (AGs) Shokin and Lutsenko were corrupt and were willing to change their stories about the Biden's guilt for the right "price."

I am hoping the Senate will hold a legitimate trial, particularly since they have the Parnas documents, and will attempt to get to the truth of Mr. Parnas' allegations.

Maddow is a very straight up interviewer. She is great on detail and sticks to the facts.
