The history of the followers of the Old-Rite unfairly begins with church reform of the 17th century. It is generally accepted that reform is the moment of foundation of certain “Old-Ritualist churches”, which opposed themselves to the state and society, closed themselves off and did not allow anyone into their conservative world. However, to someone who is even a little familiar with the history, culture and life principles of the followers of the Old-Rite, it’s clear that most popular beliefs about the followers of the Old-Rite are mistaken.

I would really suggest you edit out your post. It seems to be against the Statement of Purpose for TAW which reads in part

Active promotion of views contrary to the established teachings of canonical Orthodox Churches are considered off topic. This includes schismatic or Old Believer teachings.

I wouldn't want to see you get in trouble for posting.

Please consider this a friendly reminder.

Like every parent ever has said, "You live under my roof, you follow my rules". Quit posting uncanonical things. There are people who discover Orthodoxy in this forum and every person you lead astray to schismatics is another soul you'll likely have to answer for.

It certainly is easy, I think, to have compassion and sympathy for those in schism, like the Old Believers and Old Calendarists. Schisms are traumatic and the cause of much broken-heartedness. It is my observation that schisms like these are often caused by external forces trying to destroy the Church and breaking the trust between brothers when there should be charity. Both sides often act out of lack of charity in these cases, but ultimately one brother cuts the other off, forsaking his family, and a sibling is lost. Very grievous. I pray for the restoration of all to the unity of Truth that is Orthodoxy. And there are many decent folk with good intention and naivety. Schism is fed by true abuses. May God forgive us all. This is all reason for weeping - and I do weep over schism. May God forgive us all.

I glorify God that some Old Believer communities have entered into communion with the Church in recent years. God is gracious and merciful.

Even the Great Schism, which was largely the result of the efforts of Charlamange and the Frankish royalty who sought to divide the West from the East for political gain - and the consequences were reaped and are being reaped.

Well what attracts me to schismatics is the fear that small changes could cause massive ones. I saw that the Catholic Church started to make small changes(such as to the lithurgy) and now it is completely different from the Church of 500 years ago. I joined orthodoxy because they didn't kowtow to the modernist. I am sorry about this post

that's what makes schism so deceptive. my adhering to something so stubbornly that they leave the Church, they are the innovators.

the Old Believers were fine with the Byzantine Rite as long as it stayed in Byzantium. which means they never should have schismed.
