Naw....many evangelicals are/were naive enough to believe that he is a fulfillment of prophecy and will rush in the end times. They don't give a crap about his behavior. They just wanna bring about the second return in their lifetime. Makes me sick. Idiots.

I grant, they might not be wrong. IN the wrong, yes. Wrong, no.

What swung the election were independents who were charmed by a businessman and celebrity who was folksy, bigoted, and crude like them.
Independents were almost evenly split, 42% Clinton, 48% Trump.
I'm an Independent/unaffiliated voter and didn't vote for either one.

I could not understand why Christians could not see the con job before he was elected. It baffled me that so many were enthralled by him.

And for those who want to skip right to his full comments:
Franklin Graham

It's not quite as ridiculous as Trump's 6-page screed to Nancy Pelosi (of which he then included a hard copy in his Christmas letters to the senators) but it's still pretty ridiculous. It sort of reads like he didn't even read the CT piece and, instead, just went on a silly rant that did nothing to counter the CT piece, but rather just repeated the same excuses that the authors had laid out and shot down.

Trump tweeted that the magazine, Christianity Today, an evangelical magazine founded by the late Rev. Billy Graham, is a “far left“ publication, which “has been doing poorly and hasn’t been involved with the Billy Graham family for many years.”

He adds that it “knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call,” a reference to his July call with the president of Ukraine that led to his impeachment. Trump claims the magazine would rather have “a Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns, than Donald Trump as your President.”

Asked Friday in an interview with CNN about the tweets, [Editor-in-Chief and author of the piece] Galli said Trump’s characterization of the magazine as far left was “far from accurate,” but also said he is realistic about the impact of his words.

“I don’t have any imagination that my editorial is going to shift their views on this matters,” Galli said of those who support the president. “The fact of the matter is Christianity Today is not read by the people, Christians on the far right, by evangelicals on the far right, so they’re going to be as dismissive of the magazine as President Trump has shown to be.”

I need to know more about that magazine before forming an opinion. do they follow God's word or or is it one of these Christian organizations that bends whichever way the wind blows. What's their view on gay marriage? I think it's bad form for any Christian leader to be over involved in politics, whether it's Franklin Graham or anyone else

...and so a religious publication that once was respected passes away, probably to join the likes of America, which no one but a cult following bothers with anymore.

The religious publication never went anywhere.

It is you who moved.

Trump has done it, he has gotten Christians to turn away from Christianity. I have to ask, do the people that now attack their fellow Christians not see how much they are devoted to a cult of personality?

Quote from the article:
[T]he facts in this instance are unambiguous: The President of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president's political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.

It's not surprising to know that Franklin Graham is continuing to compromise his moral convictions to support Trump. You can clearly see his blatant hypocrisy in the difference of his quotes below.

In 1998, Franklin Graham CONDEMNED Bill Clinton for committing adultery: "Bill Clinton's months-long extramarital sexual behavior in the Oval Office now concerns him and the rest of the world, not just his immediate family. If he will lie to or mislead his wife and daughter, those with whom he is most intimate, what will prevent him from doing the same to the American public?"

In 2018, Franklin Graham DEFENDED Donald Trump: “I think some of these things — that’s for him and his wife to deal with. I think when the country went after President Clinton, the Republicans, that was a great mistake that should never have happened. And I think the same with Stormy Daniels and so forth is nobody’s business. And we’ve got other business at hand that we need to deal with.”

Go ahead and show me how I moved.

And while you're at it, show us how the editorial we're talking about is in accord with the editorial policy at Christianity Today oh, say, twenty years ago. I used to read it in those days, so this could be interesting. ;)

Unfortunately, no they don't. I used to wonder how people (who had a choice) allowed their fascist dictators to come to power, never understanding how they fell for all of the ploys, but now that I see that very same thing happening before my very eyes in my very own lifetime (since we apparently don't learn from history), I don't know how it can be stopped once a significant portion of the population becomes willfully blinded to the danger and ignores all warnings. It's shocking that it would be happening in this country, but "we the people" are demanding a King instead of God, just like the Israelites of old, and by golly we're going to have one and never mind the terrible consequences!

There you have it. That is mainstream Christianity, written by CT's editor-in-chief. By the editor's own admission, they don't publish political commentary often, but this time they are.
It's a single op-ed piece in a publication I've never heard of. :|

And we have seen the overall scathing reaction to their unwavering and devout support of him. Here are a few examples of the severe damage that has been done to their moral reputation and witness.

See, exhibit Z for how contemporary Christianity exists to serve the Repub party.

Principles subservient to Party interests. Modify them as necessary.

I understand that you and a few others think differently. But you seems outsiders looking in.

Trump Should Be Removed from Office

Good wolf, bad wolf::Good Christian, bad Christian
So is Christianity Today the good Christian and Trump the bad Christian?
Or is Christianity Today the bad Christian and Trump the good Christian?

There's an ancient Cherokee story from before Columbus that frames the same question:

A child goes to the Chief with a question:

"Sometimes I see a person act good. And then at other times I see the same person act bad. I don't understand."

The Chief:

"Inside each person there are both a good wolf and a bad wolf. And they fight."

Child:

"Why do they fight?"

Chief:

"Each wants to win control of you."

Child:

"Which one wins?"

Chief:

"The one you feed."

(I use this because I'm a tribal member.)

The question about good christian, bad Christian is then framed in terms of "food."

Is Christianity Today feeding the bad wolf or the good wolf?

Is Donald Trump feeding the bad wolf or the good wolf?

Examples?
