Trump Impeached for Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress
The House of Representatives on Wednesday impeached President Trump for obstruction of Congress and abuse of power, making him the third president in history to be charged with committing high crimes and misdemeanors and face removal by the Senate.

On a day of constitutional consequence and raging partisan tension, the votes on the two articles of impeachment fell largely along party lines, after a bitter debate that reflected the deep polarization gripping American politics in the Trump era.

I don't think so.

I don't think that Clinton is president asterisk. He was impeached for what the House thought were impeachable crimes. The people re-elected him by a wide margin. And, Clinton is remembered for his record, on which folks disagree.

No matter the final outcome, he is President Asterisk.

Some the lamest things to ever have happen. Abuse of power? Really? The Democrats have just made impeachment meaningless. A big yawn. I imagine if we wanted to we could look back on every president and come up with a reason to impeach on abuse of power. Because it is far to subjective. But hey, I guess the Dems have made their bed and now will have to lay in it.

And this is no surprise, no shock, no big deal really. It's been something they've wanted to do since the voting ended.

Yet Bill Clinton can have a wild affair with an intern and there is nothing impeachable!
That’s not why he was impeached. It was because he lied about it, which is nowhere close to being as bad as Trump’s abuse of power and defiance of congressional oversight.

The first article of impeachment, and the factual allegations underlying it, is a serious allegation. Serious enough to avoid a meaningless use of the impeachment power.

I know. You're something of a legend around here. At any rate, I thought it was hilarious. Besides, I'm no fan of the impeached one. Bless his heart, he could mess up a pressed ham sandwhich.

Please provide references as to where each past president held up aid in order to get a personal favour.

If this happened to a Democrat I'm sure , You would be overly happy about it. And you would be defending it.

Per the evening's press conference, it is not clear that the House will even send the articles to the Senate. Pelosi will discuss this with her team. She would like to wait until the senate decides what a trial will look like. Personally, I think that sending the articles to the Senate would yield a couple of new Democratic senators, after each Republican is forced to vote.

Clinton only had 10,5 mths left of his second term after the Senate trial on Feb. 12, 1999. He was impeached by the House on Dec. 19, 1998.
I don't think he would have been reelected, things were different then.

Yes, she is!

Bless his heart. As a Southerner it's my favorite way of saying exactly what you think without actually saying it at all.
