From the "Nothing to see here", files: The Ukraine scandal timeline Democrats and their media allies don’t want America to see

For weeks now, Democratic members of Congress, career State Department and National Security Council experts and their allies in the media suggest questions about Joe Biden and a Ukrainian gas company and Ukraine meddling in the 2016 election were nothing more than debunked conspiracy theories.

In reality, the facts on both these issues are clearly substantiated. And as I pointed out last week, many of the witnesses that House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff called during the impeachment proceedings confirmed concerns about both.

Man, really sounds like something important that Donald's DoJ should be investigating. Yet for some reason, he instead took out Facebook ads smearing a likely election opponent. Kinda makes one wonder - if even Donald isn't taking the claims seriously, why should anyone else? Time to move on to another made-up talking point, I'd think.

John Solomon is less a reporter than an active participant in the opinion pieces he scribes. Well, he's not pretending to be a reporter anymore.

How a Veteran Reporter Worked with Giuliani’s Associates to Launch the Ukraine Conspiracy — ProPublica

ProPublica said:
Lev Parnas, recently indicted for foreign influence in U.S. elections, collaborated closely with The Hill’s John Solomon to fuel spurious allegations involving the Bidens and Ukraine.

Interviews and company records obtained by ProPublica show Parnas worked closely with Solomon to facilitate his reporting, including helping with translation and interviews. Solomon also shared files he obtained related to the Biden allegations with Parnas, according to a person familiar with the exchange. And the two men shared yet another only recently revealed connection: Solomon’s personal lawyers connected the journalist to Parnas and later hired the Florida businessman as a translator in their representation of a Ukrainian oligarch.
But a month after Lutsenko’s Hill TV appearance, the former Ukrainian prosecutor backed off of his allegations. He told a Ukrainian-language publication that he himself was the one who asked the U.S. ambassador for the list of supposedly untouchable figures. The State Department said there was never any list, calling it an “outright fabrication.” And Lutsenko told the Los Angeles Times last month that he saw no evidence of wrongdoing that would justify an investigation into Biden’s son’s business dealings in his country.

John Solomon foisted a bogus story on Fox News viewers. His punishment? A contract.

ErikWempleofWaPo said:
Attacks against Yovanovitch, however, were consistent with the pro-Trump cause: Rudolph W. Giuliani, a personal attorney for Trump, gave Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a “nine-page document dated March 28 that included a detailed timeline of the Bidens’ dealings in Ukraine and allegations of impropriety against Ms. Yovanovitch, including that she was ‘very close’ to Mr. Biden.” Yovanovitch was removed from her post in May.

There’s no update/correction to the Hill’s article to note that Lutsenko had retracted this allegation.
Read the article for other examples (links provided so you can read for yourself).

Lawyers for Ukrainian oligarch have another client: The columnist who pushed Biden corruption claims

Politico said:
Solomon confirmed to POLITICO that Toensing and diGenova “have been my lawyers for a very long time, along with other lawyers across many different law firms.” Solomon said he used Toensing and diGenova “for libel review, to help review book and movie offers, and to do personnel contracts.”

“It raises very serious questions about whether these individuals are trying to use a lawyer-client relationship to hide communications involving illicit activities,” said Ryan Goodman, a law professor at New York University.
A series of articles Solomon published about Ukraine were mentioned in an anonymous complaint by an intelligence community whistleblower, which characterized Solomon’s work as part of the “circumstances leading up to” Trump’s July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In that call, Trump asked Zelensky to investigate the Bidens and “get to the bottom of” Ukraine’s alleged interference in the 2016 election.

Vindman Burns Trump Booster John Solomon: ‘All the Key Elements’ of His Reporting ‘Were False’

TheDailyBeast said:
Impeachment witness transcripts released Friday revealed that right-wing journalist John Solomon’s outsized role in jumpstarting Trumpworld’s Ukraine narrative was based on lies and false information.

During an exchange with pro-Trump Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), Vindman said that Solomon’s article was a “false narrative” and that he based that assertion on “authoritative sources.” When asked to elaborate, the NSC official said he talked to “interagency colleagues from State and the Intelligence Community,” adding they found the claims against Yovanovitch to be “preposterous.”

Solomon appears to be an "unreliable narrator". He was moved from reporter at theHill to "guest opinion" because of complaints of the factuality and bias in his stories; he is no longer with them now since he left to start his own outlet.

Watchdog group sues State Department to release communications related to John Solomon

theHill said:
“The Trump administration is unlawfully withholding records that could expose high-level State Department officials using a right-wing reporter to spark the misinformation campaign at the heart of the Trump impeachment inquiry,” Democracy Forward Press Secretary Charisma Troiano said in a statement. “The public deserves to know whether the Trump administration violated anti-propaganda laws.”
The lawsuit calls for communications, including those on encrypted messaging apps, between Solomon and State Department officials.

Solomon’s articles have featured prominently in witness testimony in the impeachment investigation. His articles have been described as being part of a disinformation campaign against former Ukraine Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, with the purpose of removing her from Kyiv.
The group suing is Democracy Forward Foundation, a nonprofit watchdog group.
