baby[/a] in an open letter to the parents.

Writing in The Guardian[/a], in a section called ‘the letter you always wanted to write’, the anonymous dad explained that he and his wife are childless by choice, but the noise from their neighbour's three-year-old daughter has put a “strain” on their relationship.

I lived in an apartment once, for one short stint. Other people's obnoxious noise of all types was not for me. I never lived in an apartment again. I don't know where these people are, but I would look for a private place.

Why would a baby be screaming all night at age 3? Were the parents in the habit of just ignoring it at night and letting it scream for hours on end? Something seems a bit strange here for this sort of noise to be going on for three years.

It said several times a night, not all night. Ever have a kid with colic?

Maybe someone RECORDED A BABY CRYING (like others record Whale sounds for hours, or thunderstorms ? ) .... and played too for its soothing effect .....

:)

afterthought: some therapists have advised recording a baby crying, then playing it back if it starts crying again some time, and it often gets the baby to stop crying, when he hears his own crying being played (it works sometimes).

The baby has colic for three years straight?

Colic usually reaches its peak at 6-8 weeks after birth. Colic ends for 50% of cases around 3 months and in 90% of cases by 9 months of age.

We had one kid that would projectile vomit milk across the room. I came home from work one day and the couch is in the front yard. My wife is like: "It stinks so bad like sour milk we will never get it out." So I soaked it down with gasoline and lit a match. Oh, the good old days, lol.

DINKS should be able to afford a house & not share a wall with neighbors

You don't live in a city, do you?

This letter is from a British paper. From what I've seen, British housing prices are quite a bit higher than they are over here.

Ah; be that as it may none of us know what they should be able to afford; especially in a city in the UK, one or both of them may not make much or they have debt. I hardly think they put up with thin walls for years for fun. And on the other side of the wall, the couple with the kid isn't making it cry to annoy. They probably should have sat down and tried to work it out or taken it to the landlord .

Did they actually buy the house or were they renting? If renting, I know I would have picked up and moved long before three years. Even if I had kids wouldn't mean that I would want to put up with someone else's kids screaming in my ear most of the night.
