Trump said Taylor and Kent are "Never Trumpers."

Both are career foreign policy officials who have served under presidents of both parties. Neither man signed one of the pre-election letters opposing Trump, and leading Never Trumpers told PolitiFact that they never heard of them associating with the group. Both received their current high posts by appointment from the Trump administration.

Donald Trump's administration appointed Bill Taylor to the role of chargé d'affaires for Ukraine after kicking the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch to the curb and trying to splash her reputation with mud for having upheld integrity instead of capitulating to him. In another context, Donald Trump having appointed Bill Taylor would actually reflect positively on Donald Trump because Bill Taylor is a West Point and Harvard graduate, decorated veteran, and devoted his entire professional career in service to his country. In total he's given about half a century of himself to the United States. He'd previously served as the US Ambassador to Ukraine after being appointed by President George W Bush.

Trump officials named George Kent to his position. Again, this is a feather in Trump's MAGA cap because Kent is freaking amazing. He is perfectly fluent in seven languages, including some of the hardest ones there are to learn. As someone currently learning Russian and it pretzeling up my brain, I'm in awe. He's also a Harvard grad who has been devoted to serving his country as a career FSO. The level of pettiness the Trump sycophants are on is they want to attack him for..... bringing in a refillable water bottle to the hearings.

Kent and Taylor are not part of a Deep State as Trump alleges, they are part of the Deeply Dedicated State.

While we're at it. Trump also appointed: Sondland, Hill, Morrison, Volker. Trump appointed (but wont let talk) Perry, Bolton, Pompeo, Mulvaney. ALL are Trump political appointees.

Now this President is issuing derogatory tweets against Ambassador Yovanovitch in the midst of her testimony before the House Committee - America is witnessing Trump's attempt to "smear" and intimidate the witness before a nationally televised hearing!

Congressional Republicans are now placed in the unenviable position of finding creative ways to put a positive spin on presidential "witness tampering!"
