Does Jesus still heal today?

Serious question, taking into account everything from a cavity to MS to Alzheimer's to mental illness -- does God heal? Should we even pray for healing or should we only be praying for the strength to endure?

Also, should Christians expect easier lives? Happier lives? Lives that are more blessed? (Or is this the sinful prosperity gospel, which leads me back to my questions above.)

Thanks in advance for your response.

yes, he heals all the time. the more people praying for somebody the better. and they should all believe. sometimes God calls people home. the important thing to remember is that this life on earth is not Heaven. so don't expect all illnesses to be cured here.

I told a doctor I was expecting God to heal me. He called me a mystic. True story.

Yes He heals. He has healed me, directly and instantly, at least 3 times. Ingrown toe nails, suicidal depression and impacted bowel problems. Probably on a couple of other occasions as well, but I can't be 100% sure about those.

Suicidal depression? How? Can you say how you were healed?

I was sitting in the Mates office/Cargo Control room of the ship I was aboard as a cadet. I had been getting lower and lower over the preceding 3 months and could only think about how useless and unworthy of life I was.
It had been affecting my job big time and the Officers aboard the ship probably agreed that I was the most useless person on the planet. So I was very ready to take a leap over the side. I was sitting behind the Mate not really looking at anything, waiting for him to give me a job and I heard a voice, internally, saying "Do you believe in me or not?" to which I responded in my head: "Yes" The voice said "Well then tell it to go away", so I said, aloud this time, "In Jesus name, depression leave me." The Chief Mate turned around with a surprised look on his face, and I got up and walked out, up the stairs to my cabin. For the life of me I could not think the negative thoughts, I did try on the way up the stairs, and the light that was flooding into my heart was like being in love.
I have suffered from depression (mostly reactive) subsequently over the years but this depression I was facing was a real dark cloud over me that had murderous intent. His deliverance was amazing and saved my life.

Wow. This is beautiful. You are blessed.

I used to be blessed once, too. Very much so. Then suddenly life, and everything I enjoyed, has been stripped from me. Being alive is unbearable. And I am losing my once super-strong faith. I am dead inside now. Just like that. And I am just waiting and wanting to die.

I am not sure why this happened. Some unforgivable sin? I feel like garbage now. And I can't bare it much longer.

does God heal?
Yes of course Jesus heals today: more now that we are in the latter rain to bring in the final harvast.
Should we even pray for healing or should we only be praying for the strength to endure?
We should pray for the grace of God to get though the day. We live in a fallen world and we have battles to fight and adversity to deal with. God is more then able to give all the grace we need so we can live the life of victory as an over-comer. WE do NOT have to be defeated in any way.

I have seen so many people healed of this. All you have to do is explain to them that we need to be born again and a new creation in Christ. IT turns out that is exactly what they want. Next thing you now they have the joy of the lord and they are happy again.

After my wife of 16 years walked out on me a year or so ago, I feel very much the same. The depression I had was bad but this heart break and pain puts a new twist on things. Wish it would end. Thankyou for the opportunity to share my story.
I am reminded of what the children of Israel did in the wilderness to keep their hopes up, they told and retold the story of how YHWH delivered them from Egypt and so kept their faith pinned on what YHWH had already done for them, even though things were bleak at the time.
We really need to hang on to Him at all cost in these times, and if our lives belong to Him we don't have a right to take them.
Hoping and praying for you.

Are you suggesting that we are in the end times? I have been saying the same and am met with everything from disapproval to scolding. Many no longer speak to me.

I figure it must be my depression speaking, 'cause everyone else keeps saying how happy they are now. It only serves to separate me more from every one and every thing.

You are a beautiful soul. I can tell.

Your wife made a huge mistake, but not everyone can spot an angel among them, for they, too, are human.

May God bless and keep you.

Not as beautiful as you, you really shine.
YHWH bless you and keep you,
May YHWH lift up his eyes and smile upon you,
May YHWH His favor on you and give you SHALOM.

Yes, I've seen God heal many, many times. I even know someone who was healed of MS and now is a pastor (amazing testimony). Also, keep in mind some of the greatest healings are not physical, but emotional or spiritual. Those types of healings can have a profound effect on people's lives and often they do not get the recognition they deserve.

I figure it must be my depression speaking, 'cause everyone else keeps saying how happy they are now. It only serves to separate me more from every one and every thing.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

As evil become more evil we have more of the grace of God working in us to overcome our adversity in life. For some this is the worst time to be alive, for some it is the best. Depends on where we are at with God and how much of HIS Grace is working in our life.
