do you think social media will destroy capitalism now?

Hi P4A,

I'm surprised at the responses that we somehow need to hear from Trump supporters for capitalism to survive. How did we do it for the past 200 years?

I'm not sure that we could destroy capitalism with our government established as it is. In order for the U.S. political system to destroy capitalism, then there would have to be a lot of laws made and enforced to stop or severely interfere with free trade in the country. I honestly don't see that happening, but I'm sure someone has been able to gerrymander some thread of thinking that without Trump we won't be able to sustain capitalism. It's an odd world out there.

You know what 'they' say: You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
God bless,
In Christ, ted

Does anyone really think that "capitialism" is alive and well and good in the USA ? Or if it is, that it is proper motivation(self-serving/ to make money while others lose their livelihood and their homes) for those seeking God's Kingdom ?

No.

In its purist form, capitalism is self-destructive. For capitalism to be sustainable it requires government to regulate it and tax it.

As well as the blood of the workers to keep the machine oiled.

I have a slightly different perspective. Capitalism by it's very nature leaves people behind. Which than creates a disfranchised and very unhappy population. In order for Capitalism help society as a whole, it needs social programs to fill in the gaps that Capitalism is unable to take care of.

The opposition to Capitalism promises to leave everyone except the government rulers behind...yet equally poor.

Yep! We've got plenty of examples around the world of this happening too. If those examples would be taught in today's classrooms, there wouldn't be so many people rooting for socialism.

To be honest about it, neither capitalism nor socialism alone are a complete solution to having a viable society.

A viable society is only possible when capitalism and socialism exist in a symbiotic relationship. It is wrong to assume we have to choose either capitalism or socialism when we -could- have the best of each.

Yes, I don't understand this concept that we have to be either/or. What about both/and? The best of both.

The trick is knowing which things should be socialized and which should be capitalized. Some things are easy, highways should be socialized and making toasters should be capitalized.

There are other things which are a bit of a grey area. An example of a grey area would be medical care. IMMHO, the delivery of medical care should be socialized because receiving medical care should not depend on the size of one's pocketbook.. Making equipment and providing product might well be better served by capitalism.

It think it is plain wrong to assume one has to pick between the two when, with just a bit sitting down deciding what things should be in capitalism and what things should be in socialism, is all we need to do.

I'm not suggesting opposition to Capitalism, but a marriage of sorts. We have it now. Capitalism leaves people behind. That's the way it works. Social programs helps Capitalism help people.
