• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I pray to the Generic God who is different than Christian God due to ocd.

Yesterday, ocd was telling me to eat another sandwich that I did not want to. I think some thoughts without my will happened about it. I do not remember.

Some time later, ocd was giving me worries like OCD: Do not eat a sandwich from that specific beard, cheese and ham because you may have made a promise to the Generic God not to eat. You may have made a fast promise without your will in order to force yourself out of the ocd compulsion. o do you remember what your thoughts without your will were exactly? no. are you sure ythey were thoughts without your will?

I was ready to throw away the bread, cheese abd ham and I bought new ones from the super market just for this case. But ocd started giving me again worries like

OCD: More than a year ago, some thoughts may have happened to your head. perhaps you were saying and praying to Christian God and you maybe made a promise with your will that you wont throw away food. and maybe you asked a punishment in case you throw food away. what if you throw away the food now? what if the Generic God accepted your promise that was made to Christian God? what if He punishes you with your ocd fear? Better not throw away your food.

And then another ocd is like OCD2: Throw away your food. because maybe the thoughts that happened without your will about it are more worrying than keeping that food. maybe you made a choice to throw away your food so maybe that makes one of the thoughts without your will to be valid just because it looks like that maybe you have madea choice of this whole story.

What should I do? Ocd 1 is telling me to throw away my food and ocd 2 is telling me to keep the food.

There is only one God and that's the God of the Bible, Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you more than you ever know and God can help you with your ocd. Remember, since you know it's your ocd, it's not really you. God bless you

Since you are well aware that you have ocd and that the voices may not be rational, you can decide for yourself when to listen and when to disregard, can't you? Can you listen to your own best judgement and not the voices?

How difficult is it for you not to do something your ocd is urging on you? I don't have that particular problem, so I probably don't understand how difficult it is. For myself, when I have a strong compulsion to do something that I believe is not a good idea, I can put it off until "tomorrow"; by then, I'll either have forgotten (short attention span) or the urge won't be as strong. That might not work for those whose unfufilled urges get stronger over time.

For simple advice on this particular matter, throwing away good food is a waste and could be considered a sin in itself.

I also have ocd and I would said that it's normal for ocd to makes you have doubt.
I also expereince what you have expereince.I know It's terrible. I think I have 2 sentences to give to you. 1.It just Ocd. (Ocd is like someone that try to tease you, they know your weakness.) 2.God knows your heart. This 2 sentences helping me so much and I hope it would help you too.
