New covenant NOT a renewed one. The book of Hebrews contrasts the old Covenant with the new covenant. It is based on the final revelator, the Divine Son of God vs the piecemeal revelations to the prophets. It is based on better promises, based on a better sacrifice, based on the unique Lamb of God rather than a passover lamb from the earthly flock of sacrificial lambs & based on a better Mediator.

The New covenant is superior to the Old Covenant in many ways. It is different, unique, not like the former covenant. The new makes the old obsolete as to how God now deals with people.

The New Covenant deals with both the Jewish nation & the Gentile nations, showing the mystery of the gospel, uniting Jew & Gentile into one new body, one new man in place of the two, making a dwelling place, a new temple, not made with hands, a dwelling place of God IN THE SPIRIT. God inhabits His people & puts & writes His Word on their hearts not on tablets of stone. His children are now 'living' stones in a spiritual temple, now offering spiritual sacrifices rather than animal sacrifices.

Mark 14:23-25 Then He took the cup, gave thanks & gave it to them, & they all drank from it. And He said to them, “This is MY BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT, which is shed for many.

Luke 22:20 Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the NEW COVENANT IN MY BLOOD, which is poured out for you.

Matt 26:27-29 Then He took the cup, gave thanks & gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is MY BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT, which is shed for many FOR THE REMISSION (forgiveness) OF SINS.

The New covenant is not ratified by the blood of bulls & goats, offered repeatedly. It is ratified by the once for all eternal sacrifice of the Son of God, the blood that keeps on cleansing us from all sin & unrighteousness.

Heb 10:1-4,9-14 For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

2IF it could, would not the offerings have CEASED? For the worshipers would HAVE BEEN CLEANSED ONCE FOR ALL & would no longer have felt the guilt of their sins. Instead, those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is IMPOSSIBLE for the blood of bulls & goats to take away sins.

He takes away the 1st to establish the 2nd. And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL.

11Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again & again the same sacrifices, which can NEVER take away sins. But when THIS PRIEST had OFFERED FOR ALL TIME ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS, He sat down at the right hand of God. 13Since that time, He waits for His enemies to be made a footstool for His feet, 14because by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified.

God spoke to us in these last days by His Son, Who brought about the New Covenant & Good News & not like the prophets from of old, where the Law was given through Moses. We are to listen to Jesus, as the Father commanded.

I am starting this on the Eschatology board since I am a Partial Preterist and I believe the NC was consummated both at the and 70ad and also the Olivet Discourse and Revelation are showing the fulfillment of those Covenants.

Did Christ come to establish a brand New Covenant or to Renew for the Jews and non-Jew Hebrew Israelites?

The Good News was first presented to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It was there that they were led through what would become the Feast of Passover. The slain unidentified animal the Innocent slain for the guilty. By the time Adam and Eve left the Garden they knew what was to be sacrificed, it was not a lucky guess on abel’s Behalf and it was not an unlucky guess on Cain’s part it was rejection of the Lamb of God. If we read the account we find the Lord out of His desire to save Cain made Cain a wanderer which makes it hard to be a farmer and suited to being a shepherd and the Sin Offering, the Lamb of God waited outside his door but Cain would not humble himself. Instead he and his sons began the world and its systems that are enmity with God. They now knew where to offer the Passover on the east of Eden where the flaming sword or what would become the Mercy Seat. They had also been given the time to observe the Passover. This shadow form of the Good News was first given and the entire body of Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, is the revelation of that Good News.

The Law was made a guardian over sinful men to Lead us to Christ and having done so has we are no longer under the written Law but under Grace. What is Grace? The fulfillment of the Law is Love the teaching from Romans. Grace is Love in action the book of James.

Yes indeed!

This covenantle parable in Luke 16 is my largest study of the NT concerning the OC Jews and the Resurrection. [If you go to my profile board and click on my posts, the at bottom, click on my threads, you will see a lot of my threads pertain to this, along with the "Lake of Fire" and "Gehenna", which the video below expounds upon that quite well, imho.........

Rich-man and Lazarus True story or Parable (2)
GT Jan 22, 2013

Lazarus and the Rich Man - Here a little, there a little - Commentary

Afterward, speaking primarily to his disciples but with the Pharisees (and probably the crowd) still listening in, Yeshua related the parable of the unjust steward (Luke 16:1-13). The Pharisees, who were "lovers of money" (Luke 16:14), realized that the Messiah was alluding to them with this parable and took offense. They scoffed at Yeshua. The final part of his response to the derision of the Pharisees and scribes was the parable of Lazarus and the rich man.
We'll now examine this parable in detail to grasp exactly what the Messiah was teaching about the kingdom of God:

Luke 16:
24 And he sounding said "Father Abraham! be thou merciful to-me! and send Lazarus!
26 And upon all of these between us and ye a great chasm hath been established
so that those willing to cross-over/diabhnai <1224> (5629) hence toward ye no may be able, neither thence toward us may be ferrying/diaperwsin <1276> (5725)

30 "And he said, 'nay! father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'
31 But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' "

Judaism says renewed. They can hardly say new because that would point too much toward Jesus.

The confirmation of the Mt. Sinai covenant in Daniel 9:27 by the Antichrist, resetting the seven year cycle required by Moses in Deuteronomy 31:9-13 - will appear to the Jews the renewal view they have of Jeremiah 31:31......

for a while.

I guess the question should be ascertained when is Christ’s first appearance in Scripture?

Possibly in Genesis?

Gen 1:26
And Elohim saith, 'We shall make adam/man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over fish of the sea, and over fowl of the heavens, and over cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that is creeping on the earth.'

Please know I do not mean this as an offense to anyone. The old joke goes like this “Where would Adam be if not for Eve?” Answ. “Still in the Garden.” Loved the cartoon thanks

I am not sure of what is meant by Vicky's question. Because "the Christ" refers to the promised King of Israel descended from King David. So a person would have to go back to the branch of David verses, imo.

Differently if Vicky is implying, who Jesus is as being first mentioned in scripture.

Which in that case - "In the beginning God created the heaven and earth". Genesis chapter 1:1.

Jesus is the beginning and ending (to the heaven and earth implied in Revelation 1:8). The Lord of heaven, who came forth from the Father, as the first borne of creation, and created all there is. Same Lord entered this world, to become the second Adam, but not created from the dust of the earth. 1Corinthians15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Jesus was not a duplication of Adam, that is not a man from Adam's seed. But the second man, the Lord (God) coming from heaven to enter this world to save us from the power of sin. Born of Mary, as the Son of Man, the only begotten Son of God, as both a man and as God, the Lord coming forth from the Father before creation.

This is Jesus speaking revealing Himself as the Lord.

27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. [which took place before creation, from the Father]

28 I came forth from the Father [way back before the beginning of creation], and am come into the world [born of Mary]: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.[at the throne of God]

Where is the Father? Beyond the limits of creation. At the throne of God, which is the point at which God, beyond all understanding, and creation meet.

Prior to creation, God who is beyond all understanding, made Himself perceptible to them that He was about to create, coming forth from Himself. That being the form known to creation as the Lord. In Job, the angels appeared before the throne of God, to the Lord, who they could perceive. Same Lord who became Jesus, adding to His being God to also becoming a man, unique, and there being no other, that we may relate to Him, by us being born of the seed of the woman as well.

John 1:1-3

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

_______________________________________________________________

Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Jesus and the Lord of heaven are one and the same.

Who was it that walked in the Garden of Eden? Jesus Christ as the Father is unseen and the Holy Spirit is like the wind. The teaching of the first Passover in the Garden was performed by and taught to Adam and Eve. Never was there meant to be a second covenant the one from Sinai Satan duped Eve and then Adam ate from her hand. The Passover Seder means The Order and when they forsook Grace for Law all was out of order. The Lord through the sacrifice of the Lamb put everything back in the order it was meant to be. There are two paths we can walk one leads to everlasting life with the God who loves us above all his visible creation and probably more than the unseen as well. The other to everlasting judgment. Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees you lose. Our heart which is deceitful above all else can convince us it did Saul that he could be "perfect to the lawGalatians has a very difficult teaching for those who would combine all the covenants. One covenant corresponds to Hagar and her child and comes from Mount Sinai. Those under this covenant will never inherit the free woman Sarah and her son Isaac. Where did the Lord change this teaching that both the spiritual children of both those covenants inherit eternal life. Nowhere! Paul as Saul saw himself as to the Law perfect. It was not until he left that Mosaic Covenant for the Grace he writes about in Romans that he saw himself as the chief of sinners. There is still two covenants out there one for the spiritual children of Hagar or one for the spiritual children of Sarah.

"Jesus Christ as the Father is unseen and the Holy Spirit is like the wind. The teaching of the first Passover in the Garden was performed by and taught to Adam and Eve."

This is teaching contrary to the Christian teaching of the Trinity & part of the purpose for this website, of CF. Jesus Christ is not the Father nor in a role as the Father or the Father in the role of the Son or the Holy Spirit. That is contrary to the Nicene Creed as well, which this website adheres to & teaching contrary to it is not allowed.

Also where in Scripture does it verify by the mouth of two or three witnesses that the first Passover was in the garden & was performed by taught to Adam & Eve? It doesn't.

But Scripture DOES state that the first Passover was in Egypt just before the departure of the Israelites out of slavery. That truth is VERIFIED throughout Scripture. And from that point on the Israelites were to commemorate this special event each year as a reminder.

My mistake there should have been a coma between Christ and the Father and I thank you for pointing out the need for typing slower and more careful. What did the Lord slay in the Garden the Innocent for the guilty. Where did Cain and Abel learn of the required lamb as the sacrifice. The sacrifice would be at the appointed time and on the east side of Eden where the Flaming Sword flashed back and forth. Even after Cain rejected the Lamb the Lord placed him in a position where if he obeyed would lead him to being a shepherd and the sin offering stood outside the door. The Sin Offering who stands outside the door is Jesus Christ He was knocking on Cain’s heart seeking his lost sheep as the Good Shepherd. What took place in the Garden was the Passover in all but name. When the Innocent was slain for the guilty and they were covered by those bloody skins they passed over from death to life. In one more shadow of what would unfold in Egypt Adam and Eve like Israel under went an exodus of their own.

The Lamb who was slain from before the foundations of the world were set in place was beginning to be revealed from the very first chapter of Genesis. This revelation to Adam and Eve was another rung on what would become named Passover and continued revelation with John the Baptist who declared behold the Lamb of God and as Scripture further states He has become our Passover Lamb. So yes the first named Passover took place in Egypt. If the Innocent slain in the place of Adam and Eve was not a Lamb we have a big mess to say the least. Abraham would do the same thing when he went to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham I am willing to venture took Isaac to the same place Mount Zion and had that same Lamb revealed to him in doing so.

"My mistake there should have been a coma between Christ & the Father & I thank you for pointing out the need for typing slower & more careful."

Thanks for the clarification. I usually not only need to type slower & be more careful, but to re-read several times what I have written, in order to make what I am teaching conform to what Scripture is teaching. I often need to change what I have first written.

The purpose for doing this is the desire to be speaking what God is speaking & not to add to or take away from or change & distort what God's revelation is.

The apostle James gives us a warning that all who seek to teach Scripture should solemnly do so at the peril of being judged by the Lord. He speaks the truth & only the truth & does not like it when we misrepresent what He has spoken.

James 3:1 There should NOT be many teachers among you, my brethren, because you know that we who teach will receive the greater (more severe) judgment (condemnation).

The Greek word for judgment/condemnation is 'krima' from which we get our English word 'crime.' When we teach falsely concerning the Scriptures, we represent God Himself, as His spokesperson--and His reputation as pure, holy, right, true & just--can be misrepresented by us. A CRIME has been committed, to which God will bring more severe, stricter judgment.

Those whom God desires to be His spokespersons are CALLED to that ministry & gifted by the Holy Spirit. It is one thing to share a testimony of what God has done in our lives; it is another to teach the revelation of God to others, giving the spiritual truth of what God means by what He spoke.

Now we as Christians do not want to be those who commit crime. God takes this seriously. We should also. When we commit crime concerning distorting God & what He says, this will not go unpunished. We should all take heed & be extremely careful to be good ambassadors & teachers of HIS WORD.

Matt 12:33-35 Make a tree good & its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad & its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. You brood of snakes! How can evil men like you speak what is good & right? For whatever fills your heart determines what you say. The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure & the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for EVERY CARELESS WORD they have spoken.

James 3:2-11 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to control his whole body.

3When we put bits into the mouths of the horses to make them obey us, we can guide the whole animal. Consider ships as well. Although they are so large & are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot is inclined.

5In the same way, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it boasts of great things. Consider how small a spark sets a great forest ablaze. The tongue also is a fire, a world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire & is itself set on fire by Gehenna (hell).

7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles & creatures of the sea are being tamed & have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9With the tongue we bless our Lord & Father & with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come blessing & cursing. My brothers, this should not be!

11Can both fresh water & salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree grow olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

That being said, you must be CAREFUL, not only in what you say (type) but in what you ACTUALLY READ in Scripture.

God used animal skins (PLURAL) TO clothe Adam & Eve, not a single animal. (Gen 3:21). God had a PURPOSE for saying it this way, the emphasis being on the need to be CLOTHED, since after sinning, they were now naked & unclothed. They no longer were covered with the glory of God in their innocence.

"What took place in the Garden was the Passover in all but name."

And it was NOT referring to the Passover lamb (singular) in Egypt, simply without the NAME PESACH (Hebrew: 'pass over' & from which we get passover in English).

You appear to be confusing the need for CONTINUAL animal sacrifices (PLURAL) to only COVER people's sins, not forgive them, under the OLD covenant. Abel offered PLURAL sacrifices, not a singular sacrifice. Noah offered plural sacrifices. David & Solomon offered plural sacrifices.

The Israelites offered plural sacrifices, which as the book of Hebrews states,
'Day after day every priest stands & performs his religious duties; again & again he offers the same SACRIFICES, which can never take away sins.
(Heb 10:11)

However the UNIQUE 'Pesach', the Passover lamb was instituted in Egypt & later specified in the Old Covenant Law. It was slightly changed in that they no longer had a 'door' to which the blood was applied, but sacrificed their Passover lamb at the altar at the tent of meeting.

Christ was a FULFILLMENT of the Passover lamb under the Old Covenant, which was a 'SHADOW' or prophetic word that Christ Himself would fulfill, as you alluded to & was the sacrifice (singular) that GOD HIMSELF would provide when Abraham offered up Isaac, as you also alluded to.

So one must be very careful in reading what Scripture actually says & the purpose in THAT TEXT & CONTEXT as to what is meant.

Good post and info. I never noticed the word "crime" coming from it.

There appears to many derivatives of the primary root word G2919, G2717 being one of them

2917. krima kree'-mah from 2919;
a decision (the function or the effect, for or against ("crime")):--avenge, condemned, condemnation, damnation, + go to law, judgment.
2919
. krino
properly, to distinguish, i.e. decide (mentally or judicially); by implication, to try, condemn, punish:--avenge, conclude, condemn, damn, decree, determine, esteem, judge, go to (sue at the) law, ordain, call in question, sentence to, think.
2920. krisis
decision (subjectively or objectively, for or against); by extension, a tribunal; by implication, justice (especially, divine law):--accusation, condemnation, damnation, judgment.
350. anakrino from 303 and 2919;
properly, to scrutinize, i.e. (by implication) investigate, interrogate, determine:--ask, question, discern, examine, judge, search.
1252. diakrino from 1223 and 2919;
to separate thoroughly, i.e. (literally and reflexively) to withdraw from, or (by implication) oppose; figuratively, to discriminate (by implication, decide), or (reflexively) hesitate:--contend, make (to) differ(-ence), discern, doubt, judge, be partial, stagger, waver.
1469. egkrino from 1722 and 2919;
to judge in, i.e. count among:--make of the number.
1506. eilikrines from heile (the sun's ray) and 2919;
judged by sunlight, i.e. tested as genuine (figuratively):--pure, sincere.
1948. epikrino from 1909 and 2919;
to adjudge:--give sentence.
2632. katakrino from 2596 and 2919; to judge against, i.e. sentence:--condemn, damn.
4299. prokrima from a compound of 4253 and 2919;
a prejudgment (prejudice), i.e. prepossession:--prefer one before another.
4793. sugkrino from 4862 and 2919;
to judge of one thing in connection with another, i.e. combine (spiritual ideas with appropriate expressions) or collate (one person with another by way of contrast or resemblance):--compare among (with).
5271. hupokrinomai middle voice from 5259 and 2919; to decide (speak or act) under a false part, i.e. (figuratively) dissemble (pretend):--feign.

Any other views on whether the Covenant of Jeremiah 31 and Hebrews 8 is fulfilled?
Is this also fulfilled?

Eze 37:22
“and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all;
they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.

As usual nicely done and thought proving. In Zec. 11 it is dealing with the End times and the
Lord has the staves of two shepherds. One staff is named “Favor” which was a covenant the Lord had with the Gentile nations not to destroy Israel. The Lord broke this staff and Israel has been building. Huge Wall to replace the covenant with the nations. But his other staff is named Union or unity. When the Lord breaks this staff the union of the nation of Israel becomes the northern kingdom, Israel, and the Southern kingdom, Judah, will once more be divided
