Dallas police officer who shot her unarmed black neighbor in his own apartment was found guilty of murder on Tuesday, in an unusual and high-profile case that dealt with issues of race, policing and mistaken identity.

The officer, Amber R. Guyger, was charged in the death of her 26-year-old neighbor, Botham Shem Jean, after she said she said accidentally went to the wrong floor of their apartment complex, entered the unit directly above hers and fatally shot him last year.

the fact that the apts were exactly over each other, shows she went the correct no. of steps (just on wrong floor)

having worked 14 hrs in a day (two jobs) early in my marriage, know that one can be tired & can understand her going to wrong apt Accidently

a man was in what she thought was HER apt
any man in one's apt would make a woman fear for her life

it is tragic what happened but I believe it was an accident


why would she PLAN to go kill someone after working a 13.5 hr day ??

She shot him with intent on killing him. After she shot him, she did little to save his life, instead she texted a lover saying she messed up.

working 13.5 hrs shift- if anything her job is just as responsible
people are not meant to work that long & because of being tired, she entered wrong apt

. IMHO cops are told that they have to warn before they use deadly force and they’re specifically trained to be observant. She obviously didn’t do that . Walking into the wrong apartment door is understandable . I’ve done it when over tired. But you see right away that, hey that’s not my furniture or wall paint , or hey my key doesn’t fit . IMHO she got charged with murder because she walked in and just started blasting .

From the details i read, and the photos, including the red mat outside the neighbor's door, including that it was an entirely different floor, and the question remains: how did she get "in" his apartment?

What a weak and wobbly to the nth "story" she eeked out. Another question, of course, is why didn't she get him help?

I agree. She should've gotten the death penalty.
