Usually when crisis strikes, the human heart struggles not knowing how to respond. What does God's word say about this?

Daniel 4:32: "You shall be driven away from human society, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like oxen, and seven times shall pass over you, until you have learned that the Most High has sovereignty over the kingdom of mortals and gives it to whom he will.”

Does this verse tell us to know about the sovereignty of God's will amid pain?

What's your opinion? God bless.

I thought this was punishment and humiliation for the proud.

Physical pain is a different issue and personally I find it hard to cope with. I feel eons away from Jesus in this respect - for years I would not look at a cross with Jesus on it.

However he uses pain in our refinement, but in order to achieve in us a softer heart.

It says of Jesus that on the cross His heart was like wax - softened by the heat of suffering.

refinement
Can you elaborate what refinement means in the quoted text?

Simply in this case, the forced humiliation of the proud King effected his refinement and his reason returned.

Look at the next verse...

34
“But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever;
For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.

reason returned

Do you mean to say he knew the sovereignty of God's will?

Possibly, If you lived in the old covenant [and] your name was Nebuchadnezzar! That was a divine judgement upon him and (him only)... for he didn't humble himself before the Lord so God turned him over to a reprobate mind in which he became insane. He was restored later. Remember, this is Old Covenant. Only Jesus could fulfill the old covenant requirements.

Aren't you glad that Jesus took our place and today in the New Covenant God gave us Jesus (Grace)?

Actually Carl, most of us are suffering with pain of some kind (me included), but the Word says that Jesus took our pains and the suffering from it. As for me... I believe I receive when I prayed. Now I stand and REST on His word.

(Isaiah 53:4) Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

Does God show grace through Christ's death & resurrection only to those whom He has chosen by His sovereign will according to Exodus 33:19, "I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious"?

That was a divine judgement upon him and (him only)..

Do you mean it was a message only to Nebuchadnezzar & not to others as in Dan 4:17, "The sentence is rendered by decree of the watchers,
the decision is given by order of the holy ones,
in order that all who live may know
that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdom of mortals;
he gives it to whom he will
and sets over it the lowliest of human beings.’?

You ask about amid pain.. and then post a OT verse. Jesus already came and died. The 1st word in that verse is? "YOU".. read before and after.. its very clear exactly to whom GOD was talking "Nebuchadnezzar",,

Amid pain? Covered by the blood of Jesus.. By His strips was healed. Never came from God.. I praise Him in all things and He does every time deliver me.. heal me. That "heal" was already done. As Peter John said.. why look at us as if we did this under our own power. Its FAITH in that name. Speaking OT.. who EVER calls on the name of the lord shall be delivered. Not maybe.. not if GOD feels like it. He spoke..shall He not do what He already said? :) That word can never come back to Him void.

Again.. not every verse is for all.. sometimes.. just to whom He was talking as in this case.

Does Daniel 4:17 say the message given to nebuchadnezzar about the sovereignty of God's will was
not only meant for him?

As Peter John said.. why look at us as if we did this under our own power.

Did Peter and John heal all in Israel to the extent there were no more crippled and sick there?
