• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

God often speaks to me in themes. Like things will keep coming up over and over. Does anyone know what I mean?

Sometimes I feel like I totally don't know what to do though with some of these themes. or example the word "content" will come up. Or certain verses like 1 Peter 5:7 will come up several times per week. i.e. I'll see in on a billboard, or in a text, or online.

I want to be responsive to God trying to get my attention, but a lot of the time I don't know what I'm supposed to do with what is coming up. Chalk it all up to OCD? I mean it's not just what a psychiatrist might say is a "creative association" or magical thinking your brain is making because it's always thinking about something. It's a verse or word that comes externally. Does that make sense?

Anybody have some insights on these Godly coincidences. I feel like the Devil can use scripture and confuse obviously.

As long as the content of the message is scriptural, and it encourages you towards good fruit, I think it's God wanting to get your attention.

If it is not scriptural, or somehow leading you to despair, then I would be cautious.

If you're focused on a particular word or action, it will come to your attention rather than the randomness of lively experiences. That might just be OCD. It's like a horoscope and looking for the vague declarations to appear. They probably will somehow. That does not mean it's from God. Does it do some good to see something repetitiously? If good comes from it then it is from God.

Godly experiences are sometimes Holy Spirit based and you can feel them: Galatians 5:22-23. Like filling people with Love and Peace and Joy, etc.

That said, God does protect us from harm and deliver us our needs and such. So if your needs are met (you have a place to live, food on the table, etc) then I thank God. I also thank God for delivering me from harm. Usually those things are unseen and unnoticed though.

And God does much more than that :)
