Newly converted Pentecostal. Saved for about two months. About to be baptized in a few days. Go to church three or more times a week. Love the Holy Spirit, but not big expert on scripture. Been doing a lot of reading on many deep topics of Christianity as of late, and really looking forward to having a place where I can talk to people about it all.

I really don't recommend a christian forum for a new believer, many times controversial topics come up. Instead of just talking about how the Bible blesses us you have people down talking the Bible and talk about how they don't believe in the Bible or talk about topics that don't promote the Bible or faith (higher criticism). Many many seminaries are into controversy instead of God's word itself. I recommend getting the you version Bible app, and simply reading through the Bible every year. Attend your church regularly, and sign up for nickey gumbels devotion when you sign up for reading through the Bible every year on your app. If you need further help, let me know. Message me for prayer requests, it's also good to lift up one another. But you don't need a christian forum. (when I got out of Bible college, I came here to witness to unbelievers it was the hardest thing I ever did, my faith was stretched, I was mocked and belittled, I got better at debate, but a part of me died. My joy died. Being mocked and belittled every day by atheists, gets to you, and some of it rubs off on you. Since then I have been banned for a month on here, simply because they didn't like that I was defending christianity, and when you have ten atheists reporting your posts, they add up. So instead of getting kicked out I stick to the non debate threads. But my life has been so much happier leaving the controversy. I am happy again. I don't recommend this place for everybody. And if I was reading every day, praying, going to church, I definitely would not use this as a substitution.

Christian Forum I personally believe is for all Christians, new and long time believers. We can't always live in a Christian bubble for there is no such bubble. Sooner or later we are going to face the same problems in our daily life as we face in the forum.

But for new believers I would recommend to familiarize yourself with Christian only forums to get a feel on how people share their thoughts. Equip yourself in the Lord by regularly reading the Bible and praying to God. Nothing is a substitute for self learning. There are many posts here if you get to the core of it is highly beneficial. Especially on how to respond in your daily life to non-believers' questions.

Once you get the hang of it in the Christian forums, go read the open forums. Try not to engage immediately. It pays to understand the points, see the merits and weakness, then respond. Don't get overly personal, it's still the internet after all. Disengage if you need to. No one has all the answers. And the topics have no firm conclusion regardless of how many posts there are.

There will be unsavory people and will give you a hard time just for your faith. No one is greater than the Master. What the world did to our Lord they will do to us.

John 15:18-20
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

Remember disengage if you're no longer comfortable in the topic. You can also seek help from the moderators here.

again christian forums has a good motive, however most of them use it as an outreach, and as such open themselves up to many who don't believe. These unbelievers actually tell their friends, hey lets go to christian forums and stump some christians. And they multiply. If someone simply read God's word daily, prayed regularly and attended church regularly, no none believer, or skeptic could get to you. Simply because God's word is alive in you. Christian forums are good place, but not for the new convert. Simply reading the Bible every year, allows you to know biblical doctrine, the trinity, end times, pneumatology, christology, you name it, it's already in the Bible. No seminary needed. I highly recommend this practice over coming to a group of people who are easily divided, don't always have a love of others views, and come from an array of either strong christian backround or weak christian backround. I am tested in my faith in the christian only sections as much as in the debate sections with athiests. Simply because of teaching controversy all the time. Being around controversy too much and not actually reading the Bible through and through, will give you a foundation of controversy, not a good way to start a walk with the Lord. But I do recommend twitter. I am so uplifted by the Christians on twitter. If you want to connect their, my name is "godsquadgeek." I have lots of lovely people I follow and retweet, all of them Christian, non political, non theological, just loving believers who want to uplift others by posting verses and other uplifting content. I highly recommend that atmosphere to a new believer over this atmosphere.

My faith is tested enough just by going to bible study twice a week. I am no stranger to early crises of faith. I read on it, I study, I read various viewpoints, and I pray--a lot. I trust in Jesus and the Holy Ghost to guide me to wisdom. A faith untested is a weak faith; I praise God every time my faith is tested, because it is only made that much stronger. His tests are an act of love. I spent 30 years of my life figuratively (and literally) spitting on the bible. I grew up with "bible bullies" and I myself was a militant anti-theist my whole life. I know both sides of the coin. I appreciate the warnings, but choose to ignore such cynicism. FYI, as a "welcome" thread, the whole "get out while you can," attitude isn't the best look. Just saying.

you have a good basis, but I would avoid theology sections of the forum. Just stay in the uplifting sections. People tend to flock to contradiction and controversy. Negative news always sells more news paper than positive uplifting news so people tend to migrate toward theological error and problems. In order to try and solve it all. I can understand the temptation. But reading the word of God with a question mark in your head is limiting your spiritual growth. Only when you read it out of living and powerful faith, trusting God alone that every word is true, will you believe it. and if you don't believe it, when you read it. It is not performing the work it was meant to perform. Simply reading the Bible but not applying it is useless. Theology threads are typically created to answer a question. They are fatally tied to controversy, and not tied to faith in God that what He created and gave to us supernaturally is true. That is why I mention to simply read the Bible daily, read through all of it, old testament and new testament. On your own. I hold to the fifteen verse rule of hermeneutics. Simply read fifteen verses before and after any verse that someone quotes online to prove a point. To see for yourself if the context dictates that what is true is true. Every school in the world teaches reading comprehension, so if we simply read the Bible, no commentaries, not manuals, no handbooks. And just read through it, the actual scripture will cause life in our soul. But to be honest, more people leave the faith than stay in the faith here on this forum. It has flaws according to what I mention above. If you want to stay in the faith, you need to trust God alone. His word alone (sola scriptura). Don't trust man, any of them. They are beings of flesh, who manipulate for profit, even if they don't see it in themselves that they are monetizing the faith for gain. Churches are good, because they are surrounded around community not controversy. That is why I recommend twitter over this place. I go here to witness. But I only post one or two posts a day. The majority of my free time is in prayer, reading the Bible, or on twitter reading testimonies. I know that there is a part of each of us that want to figure everything out, before we dive in. But do you understand all the in's and outs of 24volt DC circuitry, micro processors, science of combustion small engines, transmission systems etc, before driving a car? Do you know the details of ethernet/IP, how signals travel in WIFI, or 5G or 4G, before using a computer or phone? No, we have faith that they work because countless lives have been changed by these devices. Well countless more lives through the centuries have been Changed by Christ. We don't have to figure everything out, we just have to start living for Him. When we make a bad decision, learn from it, repent of it, seek the Lord to gain victory over it. And repeat. Living in Holiness if far more important to God than sacrifice, than earning a seminary degree, or knowing everything about doctrine. I have been taught be they best schools, seminaries, and churches in the world by far. And I can tell you first hand that majority of theological topics posted here, make many assumptions not in the Bible. One we be better to just steer clear and read the Bible cover to cover. I use blue letter bible, for commentaries, and greek tools, as well as audio sermons on the Bible. But other than that, my thousands of dollars in scholarly software, lies dormant on my computer. over 10,000 books on christianity bought and read. But what I get more than anything else, is simply reading the Bible. God wrote the best book. The Bible is the best selling book by 30 to 1 over number two best selling book every year. There is a reason for that. Don't get caught up here, meet me over at twitter, follow some of the people I do, start finding your own inspirational christians. On twitter they don't get caught up in rapture debate, or are the gifts for today, controversy. They simply talk about how Jesus is stretching them and growing them to overcome personal limits they have on a daily basis. Overcomming life long addictive sins, and seeing the transforming aspect of Christ's power. Seeing that on a daily basis either reading in from the Bible, or seeing it in testimony form from other christians on twitter, is what you need. Where can you find that here? I try starting threads, they just die out, or a skeptic comes in and ruins the thread. On twitter it allows you to follow people other followers follow. So it keeps your feeds pure from outside skepticism. If you see something you don't like, you just block it. But if you blocked everything that was bad here, you would be doing more blocking than posting. Maybe in ten years after you have had some time under your belt, and have learned evangelism, and discipleship and what christianity is meant to accomplish, you can come back here as an advisor to those questioning the faith. But most likely you won't want to come back here. When you experience the living water for yourself, and realize the power of Christs love over sin, you will want to take even more steps of holiness in your life, consuming all things Christ. You won't honestly have time for reaching down and lifting people up. For ten years I evangelized and taught evangelism, and I wanted just one person to come to church with me. Then this last year as I rededicated my life to teh LOrd in all ways, I had two guys go to church with me from work. One guy brought his entire family, in laws and children. That never happens to me. I just wanted to share that there is more to christianity than what is seen in these forums. Just take a minute and read through the tweets of some of the people I follow, or just read some of the retweets I post. All of it is positive, no controversy, faith lifting, spirit supporting, fire catching, all of it.

check out some of them:

I hear what you are saying, but I do not use social media, especially twitter. What you think of this place, I think ten times that of twitter. And what you advocate for is creating an echo chamber for yourself, which I do not agree is helpful. I read, I study, and I pray; I pray for the gifts of the spirit to give me the wisdom to see through false doctrine. I am cautious not to become overly proud, but the spirit has done right by me. I have already seen through a lot of lies most Christians live their entire lives believing. I have already suffered through crises of faith with certain doctrines--Calvinism vs Arminianism for instance. And, like you said, the great revelation I found after many hours of study was simple. It is above my pay-grade to question the machinations of God. If I cannot easily reconcile one of the biggest arguments in Christian theology to date, then I am officially dumber than God. Big shocker. I just keep to the teachings of Christ, and try not to question the things that are yet to be revealed. If I find this to be an unholy place, then I thank God that he gave us more than one tongue in Babylon. I can simply pick up and go somewhere else, as was his intent.

But I don't think you have reconciled calvinism and arminianism. I wrote a journal on it for several years, and I don't have it figured out. I found out roughly 15 to 30 verses speak of salvation by faith alone without mention of repentance, while over a hundred mention various forms of either works, repentance, or submitting to God in some form or another. If repentance is required, and it is, then salvation is not entirely something that God does, in other words God won't repent for you. This stumps most of calvinism because if I repent, and believe I am saved, however seeing that God elects us and that is His work, and draws us, and grants repentance, I still have to decide to follow Jesus. So there is an effort there. It's not all in God's court. I don't fully comprehend the gospel message, even after writing a theological journal on it, and even after teaching evangelism at a church of several thousand. I still don't comprehend the in's and outs of the gospel. When ever I think I have it figured out, God shows me another verse. When I think that salvation is completely free and nothing is required, He shows me a verse on salvic repentance. Whenever I think the gospel is based on works, He shows me verses about grace and about it being a free gift. Whenever I think that I can never lose salvation, He sends me to hebrews and other verses on apostacy. Whenever I think my salvation is lost and there is no hope, He sends me to the gospel of John, and I see that it's not lost and that with God all things are possible. See whatever view you think you understand about calvinism and arminianism, it's incomplete. Just reading the word of God daily will help you fully understand that those topics that are meant to be gotcha points for the serious scholar are actually easily answered through scripture. But the answer itself has many facets to it. Things that I personally have not seen any one teach. I am not saying that my view is the correct one, but as I have read through scripture, I realize that hardly any one theologian is correct on all matters. They may be good on end times, but think the gifts are not for today. They may preach a good gospel message but are confused about apostacy topics in the Bible. I have found very very few people in the world that have the correct theology on all things. I could be wrong, but reading through the Bible three times, and going on a fourth has taught me alot. The Bible is unlike most theologians out there, it's not like a calvinist, and it's not like an arminiast. You can forfeit salvation but you cannot lose it, you can have eternal security but you cannot be once saved always saved. You are saved by faith plus repentance, but your repentance is not a work, but in some verses it is actually a work but you cannot think of it that way, because most of scripture does not treat it as a work. So again you think these topics are easily answered and they are if you read the Bible every day, but if you simply read debate threads, you won't know. Anyway I feel I have exhausted this topic here. Again if you wish to grow in your walk with the Lord, if you want to know Jesus better this is not the place. You don't have to believe me, but message me in five years, and let me know how much this forum has grown your walk with the Lord. I have been here since 2003, and if anything debating controversy has weakened my faith. I had to step away from it to realize it was not God's will. I can't convince you of that, and I know you want a challenge, but I can guarantee that no one here knows. I could be wrong, but in 15 years on here I never met anyone who had all types of theology correct. Most of it is error. Anyway, I hope you take me up on the offer and follow us on twitter (follow some of my favorites like: @Michalawhite_,@AndrewToutge, @lovey_doveyy, @DrJRobinson23, @joelnobis, @careharrington

That is amazing! Welcome to the family. Have you read the Bible yet? That is a great way to get to know GOD. Read the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. A great place to start. Take your time, pray before reading and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and teach you. <3
