its not the internet . There’s been a dumbing down of what students are expected to know by a certain age. I was actually shocked to my core when I realized that a lot of people have trouble reading the New York Times . And that was supposed to written at an 8th grade level . Most modern kids can’t even read a Victorian novel like from dickens or Thackeray or one of those classics . That also surprised me as I was reading those at around age 11 or earlier. (And I’ll fess up now. it was reading Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift at age ten that caused me to think very hard about what I believed about religion and why )

The internet has absolutely been a major factor in misinformation being disseminated & consumed! I do think my generation is learning to filter out sources & not just accept what we read without any evaluation or examination.

There's been a dumbing down in culture; it's certainly not specific to youth. I've been shocked to the core at the number of older people who refuse to read any newspaper bc they believe anything critical of their political tribe or in discordance with their beliefs is therefore "fake news." I've definitely seen much more falsities about science from older people than from ones my own age.

I've been reading the NYT regularly for years along with other papers from around the world. For students the subscription is either super cheap or totally free. I've written about several my favourite classic books in the thread about books on this thread. I joined here when I was in grade 9. I write in text on here a lot as do a lot of people but we do know how to properly spell words, whereas you frequently see adults misspell them.

On this topic specifically I do think there's been more effort in modern times to educate about climate change & its ramifications. Obv the level and quality of education varies by school but I've never met anybody young IRL who was flippant about it or thought it was a "hoax." It has been extensively covered for yrs in my science classes. There's a whole thread on here where ppl most over 40 are giggling about how they think it's dumb that Democrats have discussed how meat consumption impacts the environment. When that's literally on HS level science exams....

i'd like to elaborate on what has been said. the mission of the globalists is to scare us into depending on them for "solutions." that makes us slaves. the dumber we are, the more easily scared we will get. that's why they need to dumb down the new generation.

You are right you're not. I believe very little of what I read in the news as I read very little news. I make my own decisions by what I see around me and smell and deduce. I am not blind to all the damage we have done to the air and water and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Just living 60 years ago and on has proven what society has done. No more clean air or water in comparison. The roads now, asphalt have increased temps beyond the country life I used to see. You underestimate the elders. They are smarter than you think. In a nutshell, I lived the difference between then and now.

I don't underestimate elders anymore than elders underestimate youth. :) In all serious, I don't underestimate their intelligence at all. I do think every generation has its own challenges. Where do you get your information on climate change and on current events? There's much that isn't visible or perceptible to the naked human eye or senses but still very much real. You could live to be as old as Methuselah & still have much you've never personally experienced or witnessed. In some instances it's fine to just shape your understanding of things based on what you personally fee and feel, in others it's not.

That may be true but the temperature is still rising regardless of what they want you to think.

well s/he complained about globalists . That’s usually what flatearther’s call people who don’t accept flatearthism
It doesn't matter.. You are condescending someone for assuming that they believe in something.. which they have total right to...

However, you have no proof of that.
You are obviously did it to ridicule
That is attacking the person, not presenting information to support your view.. You are slandering them with a view on a totally different topic and with no proof that they even hold that view.

The internet presents both fact and fiction.. fake and real news... That is why the mainstream media don't like it..

In fact, Google and YouTube are modifying their search algorithms to make it more difficult, if not impossible to search for anyone that goes against the hive mind... and the panic of the fake news like CNN.

TV news is no more reliable than the internet.

Knowledge has increased.... so has the lies of any media.. social, internet or TV.

That's not nice and they will close this if you are going to throw barbs.
I honestly did no more than to let the Troll know I am not going to nip at a baited hook. Christians have forgotten they are members of YHWH's Army and like the US Army in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam in hundreds of other Police Actions, there is a time to love with a Sweet Heart and then there instances like Tet of 1968 and the day after Tet of 1969 when to keep the innocent from neing slaughtered with every weapon short of the Tactical, Cannon Delivered and Aircraft Delivered in Close Support Infantry Infringements.

I left the man without closing the door in his face but he knows, now, that there is one Desciple here not unlike Paul. If we are so weak we cannot deliver the harsh truth, we are not Soldiers in YHWH's Service.

"Liefesite News reported:

Pope Francis has called upon the world to give up fossil fuels, claiming that the climate is in a state of “emergency” and that this has been caused by human activity.
In his Message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, an ecumenical celebration held on September 1, the Argentine pontiff encouraged the world to adopt “simpler lifestyles” and to abandon fossil fuels.
“Now is the time to abandon our dependence on fossil fuels and move, quickly and decisively, towards forms of clean energy and a sustainable and circular economy,” he said.
Then he got on his Vatican jet and flew to Africa."

I live in an Arctic country, and although we do not have polar bears, we do have reindeer, who feed on lichen, which is the canary in a coal mine for both pollution and the ongoing climate change. We are losing lichen. Now, whether one considers the loss of reindeer and the niche economy and lifestyle of reindeer husbandry and reindeer tourism, snow-dependent winter sports and tourism thereof a serious issue is matter of opinion, I suppose.

Far more serious wholesale impacts of the climate change that we are already faced with are the wholly new pests, fungi and invasive species that migrate up here north with the warming climate and the negative economic impact on our forests and agriculture in a country that has 'lived off its forests'. Forests are Finland's most valuable natural resource and forest industry accounts for almost 25% of our exports revenue (ten times more than elsewhere in the world on average) and forestry pays the salaries of 12% of our workforce. Snow and frost act as a protective layer for the vulnerable Arctic nature, thus, mild winters mean increased damage for trees and roots, in addition to the damage to the forestry infrastructure, to forest roads for example.

For us people, long grey winters, more cloudy and rainy days and the lack of brightening snow have an effect on our mental health in a country that is already suffering from depression. SADs are going to get more severe. Combine that with the diminished opportunities for winter sports and outdoor activities and exercise coupled with SAD craving for sugary foods and fats, and it's a vicious cyrcle for national health and wellbeing.

So yes, looks pretty bleak to me from where I sit.

Those videos answer the questions I asked? Give the rundown of whose running the conspiracy and how all the scientists are being paid to lie?

Do some research on monsanto and find out just how many scientists are on their payroll to promote the global warming/climate change hoax. Big big money for them and their products. Their paid propagandist scientists are as world wide as they are.

Canada is probably feeling the effects of climate change more strongly than the USA, especially in northern Canada.

I read somewhere that climate change in Canada is twice the rate of other countries. So Canadians see the direct result of climate change first hand.

That's just not true at all...the weather here has fluctuated between colder and warmer winters, colder and warmer summers for decades. It's been doing that long before the fear mongering global warming crowd came along to make money. It's all about the money...always has been always will be.

Actually no, older people are oftentimes more gullible than younger people. Ppl over 65 are much more susceptible to believing & sharing fake news, including about climate change. Older people in this thread have talked about past predictions of disaster but then were apparently uninformed of the past efforts to take those predictions seriously & implement meaningful changes.

That's just wrong on so many levels.

I don't doubt what you are saying.. The part that I disagree with is the assumption that... since it has warmed a bit... that it will continue to do so.

If you listen to the white lab coat people, as they speak what they are told to speak, with their scaremongering that this trend will "continue for eternity" and "humanity is going to perish" if you don't stop driving cars, eating meat, burning flammable substances for heat, etc, etc, etc..... blah blah blah.

Then you will be in panic mode.

OR... you can use the brain that God gave you and look at history.... good grief... Check it out.. has this happened before.. Ah.. yep..... many times... Will it happen again... I'm guessing YES..

SO, sit down, have a coffee and enjoy the weather... It's guaranteed to change...

Throw away this arrogant talk that mankind has some effect on the climate of this universe...or... can control any change that is taking place on a global scale.

Uh huh. Well the man who gave you the winner rating is old enough to be my grandpa & has a thread where he vigorously defends his belief that the Earth is flat using a YT video of (in his words) "internationally renowned speaker" as his main resource. Lol. So, thanks to him for helping prove my point.

And again just wrong... if in fact you have described this person honestly and it is true...he is only one among millions in that age group.

Besides...I know several young 19 year old`s who are convinced the world is flat...and it proves...hear the drum roll...ta da...nothing about young people and how or what they choose to believe anymore then older people...what people choose to believe has nothing to do with age.

True but the older one gets the more set in their ways they become and change is less likely, especially for those who identify themselves through others or movements. The young come with a natural spirit of rebellion for parental and institutional teaching for a reason. Without it tradition would rule instead of growth.
