I am an elder and I disagree with you:)

Ok I know you're not supposed to ask ppl their age if they're not young but since you said you're an elder Idk if in this circumstance it's ok to ask? That would help. :) Bc I mean an elder could be 35 or 75. What is that you disagree with me on? A study in the journal Science Advances showed that older ppl were more susceptible to fake news.

So his mind is set in stone?
He lived a life so accustomed to rejecting mankind's speculative assertions that he obviously included a denial of climate change.

He is very intelligent and I would not be surprised if he has changed his mind over the last few years.

It is getting very hard to deny climate change these days.

I do understand what you are saying.

In Australia current surveys reveal that up to 80% of the population now recognize that climate change is occurring.

In the USA roughly 70% of the population accept that climate change is occurring.

Overall, older people tend to deny climate change and younger folk tend to accept it.
What?.....

Are you serous?

Now, truth is a democracy? The whole thing must be true because 80% of Australians and 70% of those in the US believe it to be true? That's your proof?

That is funny.

Older people have lived longer and are less likely to believe just anything that they are told. Younger people believe whatever they are taught and do so in order to pass the exam and get their diploma.. Younger people have not lived long enough to have experience scaremongering propaganda by media, government and pseudo science.

What really stuns me is not so much the denial of climate change but people's diets and the associated lack of exercise.

The rise of obesity in an era when we know full well the consequences, is what stuns and shocks me.

Why does that shock you? What does that have to do with anything?

To understand climate change you need to do some research but health is simply stepping onto a set of scales.
LOL, you cannot use bathroom scales as a method of judging health. People... healthy people come in many shapes and sizes...

What is going on out there?
What's going on? Truth is fleeting.

What I’ve seen is not so much elders but the scientifically illiterate who get the idea that climate change isn’t the problem that it is . Usually they’re either republican or they’re fundies of some type. I do understand that there has been a lot of deliberate misinformation put out to fool people for the last 30 years, Including some by the republican based USA government .one of the reasons I’ve refused to vote for any republican for the last 30 years . Our environment is too important for this stupid dangerous behavior

Canada is probably feeling the effects of climate change more strongly than the USA, especially in northern Canada.

I read somewhere that climate change in Canada is twice the rate of other countries. So Canadians see the direct result of climate change first hand.
Ya... I live in Canada... the winter last year was cold and long. It started early and spring came late. Spring was wet and summer was dry. Nights in the summer were cool and we had a short "heat wave". Now, September is cooler than expected.

Canada has it's own propaganda machine. It spews nonsense and the people that I work with joke about the so called "climate change" as it is so inconsistent with what is really happening with our weather.

In the end.. some winters are cooler or warmer.. some summers are hot or cool... they vary as they have for the last 50 years that I can remember.

The media and others that promote this farce keep their rambling hoax rolling along.

It's even more noticeable now as we have a federal election coming up and both parties are afraid to state anything negative about climate change because the multitude of sheep that are brainwashed by the lies will not vote for you unless you agree with the pathetic lie.

The sky is falling the sky is falling.... PAH... lease.

You are right you're not. I believe very little of what I read in the news as I read very little news. I make my own decisions by what I see around me and smell and deduce. I am not blind to all the damage we have done to the air and water and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Just living 60 years ago and on has proven what society has done. No more clean air or water in comparison. The roads now, asphalt have increased temps beyond the country life I used to see. You underestimate the elders. They are smarter than you think. In a nutshell, I lived the difference between then and now.

That is not my assertion that is the result of surveys on the awareness of climate change.
Now, truth is a democracy?
I never stated that.
The whole thing must be true because 80% of Australians and 70% of those in the US believe it to be true? That's your proof?
It is not proof merely the feedback from climate change surveys.
That is funny.
Your not reading my posts properly.
Older people have lived longer and are less likely to believe just anything that they are told.
They tend to live in the past.

They tend to think that everything was better fifty years ago.
Younger people believe whatever they are taught and do so in order to pass the exam and get their diploma.. Younger people have not lived long enough to have experience scaremongering propaganda by media, government and pseudo science.
They are also in general better informed than the older generation.
LOL, you cannot use bathroom scales as a method of judging health. People... healthy people come in many shapes and sizes...
It may but obesity and diabetes 2 are on the increase. Measured life spans are starting to decrease in some western countries now.
What's going on? Truth is fleeting.
But denial of the truth is what everyone does.

Are you overweight?

Do you exercise regularly?

Do you keep up to date with scientific journals?

I think it's bc older ppl didn't grow up using the internet & learning how to filter sources properly.
Less technical than that. The boomers grew up with the lie of happy ever afters instead of the truth of just happy in-betweens. We were the fairy tale Disney fuelled generation until it came crashing down for many with the assassinations and lies of the 60's. Those who rebelled were not the problem so much today but rather those unaffected by those changes simply because the world had done such a good job, especially the US... in raising them in a formula atmosphere right down to the football/cheerleader mentality. These were too scared to dare rebel or change, their little world safe to them, fearing anything different. It is most likely these who still today were once formed and are still affected by the brainwashing of their youth to not make waves.

The sky now has an increasing level of CO2, nitrous oxide and methane. It is not falling but warming the planet.

Canada is warming on average at a rate twice as fast as the rest of the world, a new scientific report indicates. The federal government climate report also warns that changes are already evident in many parts of the country and are projected to intensify.

Canada's Arctic has seen the deepest impact and will continue to warm at more than double the global rate. The report suggests that many of the effects already seen are probably irreversible.

Canada's annual average temperature has warmed by an estimated 1.7C (3F) since 1948, when nationwide temperatures were first recorded. The largest temperature increases have been seen in the North, the Prairies, and in northern British Columbia.

Annual average temperature in northern Canada increased by approximately 2.3C.

Interesting the effect is not more global. But then again soot from China kinda sticks to the north and loves to blanket white snow and ice.

Don't watch CNN but I am interested in watching the weather.

You can debate what causes climate change but the global temperature is rising and that is a fact.
and you take the weather channel's word as gospel?

its not the internet . There’s been a dumbing down of what students are expected to know by a certain age. I was actually shocked to my core when I realized that a lot of people have trouble reading the New York Times . And that was supposed to written at an 8th grade level . Most modern kids can’t even read a Victorian novel like from dickens or Thackeray or one of those classics . That also surprised me as I was reading those at around age 11 or earlier. (And I’ll fess up now. it was reading Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift at age ten that caused me to think very hard about what I believed about religion and why )
