09/08/2019 sunday worship and the preachers sermon is Are you ready.

After scripture reading from the niv the preacher went up on stage holding an niv bible while i was holding fast my 1769 kjv bible.
I had already pointed out the unsound verses of the niv to the eldership and deacons many times and had seen more than a few preachers that used niv bibles that were turned unto speaking fables.
2 tim 4:3-4
2 Timothy 4:3-4 King James Version (KJV)
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Posting a link to the video were an preacher is turned to the fable whinnie the poo at 11:15 in the video.

A 10 second reference to something in Winnie the Pooh that makes a valid Biblical point about use of time is offensive to you, and proves that the NIV is unsound doctrine? How so?

1 Peter 4:11 King James Version (KJV)

I am sorry but most of that was incomprehensible to me.
And me. I thought he was going to quote some comparing verses to prove his point. Frankly I think that any differences in the NIV are just cosmetic, and only there for those who want to be contentious about trifles to behave like "rent-a-crowd" protesters who see their mission is to protest about anything just to protest for the sake of it.

The King James Version of the New Testament was based upon a Greek text (the Textus Receptus) that was marred by mistakes, containing the accumulated errors of fourteen centuries of manuscript copying. It was essentially the Greek text of the New Testament as edited by Beza, 1589, who closely followed that published by Erasmus, 1516-1535, which was based upon a few medieval manuscripts. The earliest and best of the eight manuscripts which Erasmus consulted was from the tenth century, and yet he made the least use of it because it differed most from the commonly received text; Beza had access to two manuscripts of great value, dating from the fifth and sixth centuries, but he made very little use of them because they differed from the text published by Erasmus. We now possess many more ancient manuscripts (about 10,000 compared to just 10) of the New Testament, and thanks to another 400 years of biblical scholarship, are far better equipped to seek to recover the original wording of the Greek text. Much as we might love the KJV and the majesty of it’s Jacobean English, modern translations are more accurate.

The preacher used three brief lines from Winnie the Pooh, which say that you don't have tomorrow, you only have today in which to live.

Can you show me, in your own words, where that is in error?

Also, I would appreciate your comments on what this verse means to you:

Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure [things] new and old." - Mat 13:52

How does this verse show that the NIV is unsound doctrine, and what do you mean when you say that the NIV is unsound doctrine?

Also, I would appreciate your comments on what this verse means to you:

Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure [things] new and old." - Mat 13:52

First, what was a scribe? In the Jewish communities of the first century, the scribe filled two important offices. In synagogue services, he acted as the "sophar" or worship leader. He also was the school teacher to the Jewish children in the community. There is a very strong possibility that Matthew himself was such a scribe. It has been suggested that Matthew left us with an autobiographical clue in Matthew 13:52 which says, "…Therefore every scribe who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old." This rather puzzling statement gives the gentile reader (that's us!) a clue as to how the Jewish scriptures were written.

Much of he Jewish scriptures, our Old Testament, were written in a literary style known as midrashic literature. In this style of writing every effort was made to incorporate and interpret new events in terms of events that were already in scripture. In doing so historical accuracy was not nearly as important as meaning. This was what Matthew was speaking of when he wrote that the scribe "…brings out …new treasures as well as old" (Matt 13:52). An example will illustrate this. In Exodus 14 we read that Moses parted the waters of the Reed Sea to lead the Hebrew people out of Egypt. In Joshua 3, we read that Joshua parted the waters of the Jordan River to lead the Hebrew people into the promised land. Did this event actually happen exactly as described? I suspect not. Certainly the river was crossed but the "parting of the waters" has it's most important meaning as a literary device linking Joshua to Moses. God's plan was being carried forward. This midrash of the parting of waters was used again in the Old Testament in 2 Kings 2 when the waters of the Jordan were parted by both the prophet Elijah and the prophet Elisha. This midrash is carried into the New Testament in Mark 1 when at the baptism of Jesus the heavens were parted to permit the descent of the Holy Spirit and God's words of benediction. The meaning is obvious…Jesus becomes the new Moses leading his people from an old life to a new. But Jesus is also portrayed as greater than Moses. For Moses, God only parted waters, but for Jesus, the very heavens were parted. When read for meaning, the historical accuracy of the event assumes little importance. It is when we of the twenty-first century read these stories without knowing their literary background that the mistake is made of assuming that the stories are historically true exactly as written.

Turkeys CAN fly. I have a video of several (we get a flock of 20 or so in our yard periodically) flying. I also have a video of a couple taking a "bath" in a dusty area. It went on for 15 min or so.

Paul in corintians 1: be of the same mind and speak thr same thing.
2 tim 4: tells us how to know sound and unsound doctrine.
Bringing fables into edifying the body of christ is warned against.
With over 400 bibles and newer bibles like the message bible that say the comming prohet messaih in 14:6 will recieve a black eye from a door instead of the piercing of his hands as found in recieved text bibles shows us that there are proplems in translations.

2 Peter 3:16
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

I thought that your topic was your opinion that the NIV was "unsound" doctrine and merely a book of "fables." Now you are CHANGING the topic??? You have wandered off your own path, sir. You either need to get back on track or change your OP. Your topic is NIV vs the KJV and making claims of the NIV being a book of "fables."

For me the upsetting thing in the video which you wanted us to watch in this sermon is that the preacher believes (probably a denominate thing) that one is not saved or their sins forgiven or the Holy Spirit imparted till after they perform the subsequent outward expression of a previously made internal decision by baptism. This IS unscriptural, Acts 16:31,"31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house" and John 3:15-16, "15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

I read from God's Word NOTHING about being baptized in order to be saved here. Other areas my seem to imply the necessity of baptism for salvation if one leans in that direction but they do NOT as many verses like the ones above very clearly and directly state that one is saved exclusively through their belief in Jesus.

FABLES? Yes, there are some in that video, but NOT relative to which version of the Bible is "correct."

FIRST WE NOW AGREE THAT THERE IS A PREACHER... HE REFERS TO FABLES WHILE HOLDING A NIV AND USING AN NIV.

we must know with over 400 bibles what sound and unsound doctrine is and is not.
the body of Christ must have sound doctrine to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ

when you do not have sound doctrine you will be turned to speaking showing fables as the word of God says through apostle paul told timothy.

1 Timothy 1:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

1 Timothy 4:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 King James Version (KJV)
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Titus 1:14 King James Version (KJV)
14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

2 Peter 1:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

John 10:35 King James Version (KJV)
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

NEXT...BAPTISM REQUIRED.

John 14:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 12:48 King James Version (KJV)
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Matthew 28:18-20 King James Version (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Mark 16:15-16 King James Version (KJV)
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Ephesians 4:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
