Matthew 22:24 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses declared that if a man dies without having children, his brother is to marry the widow and raise up offspring for him."

In this story the women actually marries all 7 brothers. Isn't this a little bit radical? If a man dies and his wife marries his brother than perhaps people would assume that in Heaven she would still belong to her first husband. But this women was married 7 times to 7 brothers and we are told in Heaven there is no marriage and she is not married to anyone in Heaven.

Seen in the context of Judah and Tamar the question isn’t about who the marriage is to but who is the father of the children. It’s the question of inheritance. It goes to the first husband who died no matter how many brothers she goes thru. The book of Ruth buys into the line of Perez (from the union of Tamar and Judah) but brings the kinsman redeemer into view, who is symbolic of Christ. There the marriage/inheritance has passed to Christ alone who redeemed from the law.

At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

So we are told that new marriage will not take place. But does this entail that the 2 that have become one in marriage will be separated?

Not at all. The relationship will still be there (although no conjugal relations) but the Earthly marriage will be superseded by the new relationship to Christ, who is our Bridegroom.

As for no conjugal relations, I am afraid I still prefer chocolate.

“The letter and spirit of scripture, and of all Christianity, forbid us to suppose that life in the New Creation will be a sexual life; and this reduces our imagination to the withering alternatives either of bodies which are hardly recognizable as human bodies at all or else of a perpetual fast. As regards to the fast, I think our present outlook might be like that of a small boy who, on being told that the sexual act was the highest bodily pleasure, should immediately ask whether you ate chocolates at the same time. On receiving the answer ‘No,’ he might regard [the] absence of chocolates as the chief characteristic of sexuality. In vain would you tell him that the reason why lovers in their raptures don’t bother about chocolates is that they have something better to think of. The boy knows chocolate: he does not know the positive thing that excludes it. We are in the same position. We know the sexual life; we do not know, except in glimpses, the other thing which, in Heaven, will leave no room for it.”

Marriage to the women caused the death to every brother that married her, is that a surprise that toxic marriages existed for millenia? You would think the remaining brothers would wise up! Maybe she was an exotic and very desirable wife and maybe she was a secret poisoner .

The real point was these Jewish leaders were trying to catch Christ off guard with an extreme example , and they also did not believe in a resurrection and assumed in the resurrection the wife would remain bound to the husband as his, so were trying to make Christ look foolish.

Off topic,
So how do Mormons get around this issue as they preach celestial marriage to the same spouse. The many women belonging to one man was what they taught, not many men belonging to one woman.

Christ as the first love could never be superseded and death would have been abolished so ... hnm.. I think that may not be good news to all about the first marriage. It’s not something I’ve read in the bible, altho time spent with each other as good companions would be rewarded also I would imagine. Living stones built together.

I hope we don’t forget anything, not the people, not the natural earth as it is or all the lessons learnt.

Yes, marriage is till death you do part.
Afterwards you are no longer married.
Marriage being joined to each other is of the flesh, (the 2 shall become 1 flesh not 1 spirit ) no spiritual marriage, a union of spirits between the woman and the man exists between man and women. Christians are joined to the Lord, (married) as one spirit with Him, so that marriage is an age enduring eternal life relationship.

Correct. There is no marriage to partners in Paradise.

Boez was second in line. The first did not want to marry Ruth and risk his own inheritance. "The kinsman-redeemer replied, “I cannot redeem it myself, or I would jeopardize my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption, because I cannot redeem it.” (Ruth 4:6)

There maybe a lot to this. There was a time when my wife did pray for me to raise me up from the dead. I think God would have kept me alive anyways. She still claims that I would not be alive if it were not for her and she does have a valid medical reason for that claim.

So? That kinsman wanted the property but he didn’t want the wife. Doesn’t change the analogy of the kinsman redeemer being Christ. The point is that the old husband (old nature) is no longer the accredited inheritor, Christ is (new nature) of status and progeny. Romans 7:2-3
