Noting that the US already rescued the UK from two disastrous world wars.

Since that debt was never appropriately paid back, the US would seem to have claim to the UK.

Good luck with that.

Besides, best not play 'who owes who' when you're a country built by slaves on stolen land.

LOL, that is New York Times narrative this week isn't it?

But, not really. The UK brought the slaves into the US and the Declaration of Independence declared it to the world as a horrible evil. The US forbid slavery from its founding in most of the country, including all new territories and then finally eliminated it altogether within the first century of the nation's existence.

Call slavery another debt that the UK owes to the US. Thanks for helping make the case for the US taking possession of the UK.

UK abolished slavery in 1833....some 30 years prior to the US.

Wow talk about alternative history. US states traded in slaves since its founding, with thousands working and dying on the cotton fields and elsewhere. These are facts that only white supremacists, neo nazis can deny.

Okay the trade overseas was banned in 1808, a year after the English, but seriously the US Constitution supported slavery, 3/5ths of a person remember?

Ridiculous argument. The U.S. fought a civil war over slavery (let's not beat around the bush) and didn't outlaw it until 30 years after Britain.

But you're welcome to come and try and 'take what's yours'.

I'll be waiting and happily hand out sucking chest wounds while I can.

Jumping to things in the present

We could copy their National Health Service, generally things in it are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness. My experience here so far has been things done in the wrong order and often the wrong way to increase profit.

Also in the present, the UK economy is the only large economy that gives consistently similar or even worse performance in terms of the trade balance (CAB) per GDP than our own. We might learn something valuable from that.

You could look into the reasons why the US entered both wars before posting such poorly informed nonsense.

Why isn't the UK economy in big trouble?

UK CAB 2001 to 2016.png

Sorry this post doesn't seem to connect, the reason is I was being too polite for a politics post and ended up being too obscure instead.

It is a response to the post above stating 'UK does not have the natural mineral resources', it is those non existent resources that allow the UK to run a deficit for decades on end, it is overall negative back to 1986 and just mixed before that.

It might have been fear of losing those resources that drove some of the population to vote Brexit. The resource is the North Sea oil and gas which has been recently found to also extend under the mainland as well.

UK war debt to the US was fully paid back in 2006 (at a very high rate of interest). Any more untruths you’d like to share?
