I mean that it would require the rich young ruler to sit down with God and discuss terms of surrender. Fishermen are less complicated people. The rich have lateral responsibilities.
Jesus gave the rich young ruler the law, not the gospel.

Another way of confirming that we are responsible for our sanctification through loyal response is to see the actual results.

When Abraham confessed that he was alienated by the idea of the necessity of being selfish in order to exist and survive and believed God's promise to make living selflessly viable, he was baptised into Christ. Inducted into an edification course that showed picking up a cross (living selflessly) was possible because God was involved. God created a situation where he was forced to seek shelter in the houses of kings and Pharoahs. He tried to look after his own interest by lying, but it was God who rescued him from danger.

When these rescues happened several times, Abraham realised that the events had release him from the oppression of the world, the forced living by serving selfish interest, because God was involved. You could say Abraham was the first fruit of the work of the Spirit. Abraham also noticed that these great works of God also forced those who witnessed them to acknowledge God's desire that men live selflessly. In other words, Abraham saw a way in which these great works could be a blessing to others. Therefore, if he manifested these great works in his life through picking up crosses, then this was how the world could be blessed through him and his descendants,by being turned to follow God.

So much so that when God asked him to offer Isaac up as a sacrifice, he did not hesitate because he was confident that God would bring Isaac back from the dead.

So also when we confess just as Abraham confessed, great works and words are revealed in our lives, cutting away physical and spiritual chains of oppression created by the world.
Abraham was obedient. That was evidence of his faith and the work God was doing on him. It didn’t make him more righteous.

That’s not what James says. Works are the evidence of faith to those around us.
When the Bible used the word perfect, it has the meaning of "complete".

James 2
22You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did.

Jesus gave the rich young ruler the law, not the gospel.
The Gospel is the giving of the Christ, without whom there is no sanctification. Only by being IN Him can we be the righteousness of God.

Matthew 19
21
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

His steadfast faith was responsible for his increasing righteousness.

You've heard the positive example, now study the negative.

In one sentence, what was the unbelief Israel was guilty of?

Hebrews 4
2For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.

You can’t keep pulling verses out of context.

Good day,

Jesus; Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

So which verse did you want interpreted?
I never said I needed any interpreted. But if that’s how you interpreted my comment, I certainly wouldn’t trust you with scripture.

Lutheran doctrine does not determine interpretation.

David recognised that Joshua had not led Israel into rest, in keeping with God's decision not to allow Israel to enter rest. The Gospel was withdrawn, awaiting the next cycle, when opportunity would be given to be faithful perfectly:

Hebrews 4
7He again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before,
“TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,
DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS.”

8For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. 9So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

They weren’t saved. So there’s no sanctification.
They refused to believe that they could stop worrying about preserving their own lives, in spite of the great works God did in Egypt, as well as by the sea. Which would have freed them to manifest these great works voluntarily in their own lives, enter the kingdom of God, making them blessings to the world.

Luke 11
20"But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Wisdom is vindicated by her children. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Fruit. How many believers have you made productive? How many are turned from selfish living to selfless living? First spiritual chains and then physical chains broken?

I guess you’ve decided to just post random ideas now.

Time to move on, I suppose.

Christ offered him completion, rest. That is the Gospel. Those who are offered the law are under a curse. Why would He offer that to a person who was making an effort?
That isn’t the gospel. And no, that’s not what Christ offered him.
