Hi,

One of the voices I hear in my head says that it is the devil himself. I have a problem with believing what he tells me. He is very convincing. I hear other voices that tell me not to believe him. Still, I believe what he says most of the time.

This devil voice is constantly trying to make deals with me. I have a hard time resisting these deals.

Does anyone else hear the voice of the devil himself? Anyone have advice?

Test every spirit ... to see whether is it of God.

1 John 4

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.

My main problem is the deals that the devil constantly tries to make with me. I keep believing if I accidentally agree with his deals then I am bound to them. He is constantly trying to make deals with me inside of my mind. I feel like I am bound to them. Does this make any sense?

I'm not initiating the deals with the devil, but sometimes I accept them on accident, and then I feel like I am bound to them. This happens to me all the time. It really stresses me out.

I've had a couple of assaults from Satan, not a lot of fun. Your problem is that you believe his lies. The antidote is to resist. You need to humble yourself first. Set your will to resist. God will back your will. If you are weak willed, ask God to strengthen your will. Total reliance on Christ as your Deliverer is essential. Pray the Lord's prayer. It is not some kind of incantation or charm, but it is a model prayer that Lord Jesus told us to pray. "Lead us not into hard testing but deliver us from evil" is a prayer that God will answer.

Still praying for you SnowTiger. I am sure that your fear and anxiety is only causing you to think, to feel as though you are beginning to believe Satan's lies, that you will ever "give in" and become a part of the darkness forever and be separated from God. Please hang in there. I continue to pray for God's mercy to heal you from your mental and emotional sickness.

You are not bound by them. Satan enjoys causing us to doubt, fear, and because of terror, give up. Never give up, Snow. You are not bound by anything Satan might say to you or try to trick you into, so long as you rely and trust on Christ.

Well if you're a Christian you be just as bold and convince him that you've been given authority over all his power in the name of Jesus Luke 10:19 and break his power over your spirit and mind. Scripture says resist the devil and he will FLEE from you. James 4:7 You say he puts wrong thoughts in your mind? Bring out from the Bible what God says and declare it as the only thoughts you'll allow to have control over your life and cast down every imagination and thought which is contrary to the word of God. 2 Cor 10:5 Keep declaring the word of God not what the devil says. God's word is to be believed to be true. You know the other is lie.

Also, you have the authority to tell the devil to leave you alone.

The next time he tries to talk to you, tell him this ... "In the name of Jesus, I command you to leave me alone."

This should cause him to leave you alone for awhile.

Every time he comes back, say the same thing. Don't engage in conversation with him ... just send him away ...

Thank you for your help. I will try to believe that they are not binding. The things the devil promises me are terrible though, so I am full of fear.

Psychotic disorders are the worst. I understand what you mean by accepting thoughts the devil gives you. It's called "signing for packages". Satan shows up in your mind daily with packages of guilt, oppression, shame, lust, bitterness, fear, doubt and hate, and it's our job to sign for those packages (accept them) or to refuse to sign and return to sender. For those of us with psychotic disorders, this task is difficult because we've habitually let ourselves exist with these thoughts without consciously resisting them. It's very important for us to begin resisting this nonsense.

Throwing scriptures at someone rarely helps them. These issues go beyond scripture and require professional assistance. Using the Bible to treat a mental disorder is very bad practice. It's actually malpractice. That being said, after needs for stabilization, emotional health via counseling, and community support are there, scripture is essential. Without God's word to fortify our minds, we are left with the delusions and self hating thoughts the devil tries to deliver to us daily. It takes so much strength to resist these hateful thoughts about ourselves and to stand on His word, but we must. Daily.

I have, a long time ago. Satan cannot be everywhere at once, so it is almost certainly a lying spirit if it is there constantly. You have a choice to believe the lies of the devil or the truth of God's word. We are instructed to submit to God (including trusting His Word) and resist the devil. Satan must flee from you, he has no choice. If you have been involved in the occult at any time, you need to repent. Get rid of any occult books, charms, pictures, horoscopes, artefacts - anything at all that is of the occult. You probably need deliverance from evil spirits also. Ask Lord Jesus to lead you someone who knows their authority and will cast them out. Then you must keep resisting. You have, in Christ, all, that you need. You have Him to be your armour and your sword of the Spirit. If only we knew how powerful we are in Christ. You don't need protection from the devil. He needs protection from you!

I don't do what he says, but he keeps trying. I worry that I don't have Jesus with me because the devil and Jesus can't exist together. But maybe I'm wrong. I was recently baptized and it was a really good experience. i want to believe that I'm a Christian. There is a part of me that believes I am not good enough to be a Christian. I feel like my sins are too great sometimes.

I'm trying to be a better Christian. I'm reading the new testament all the way through. So far I have gotten to 2 Corinthians.

However, the devil laughs at me all day long. He isn't afraid of me at all. I'm the frightened one. I'm not sure what I need to do to get him to go away.

Snow Tiger, you are suffering from condemnation. You need to make God's word your authority. Satan has no power over a born again Christian, unless that individual lets him get away with it.

The devil is not afraid of you, that is for sure. If you are born again, Satan is terrified of Jesus in you. It is not true that evil spirits cannot oppress a born again Christian. They lie, deceive, give you feelings of inferiority that try to make you doubt your salvation. No one is good enough to be a Christian. If we were, we would not need Jesus. Quit "trying to be a better Christian". Find out what God has already done for you in Christ. You've read Romans 8. There is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5 tells us about Satan's methodology and the answer. We have the power to pull down those strongholds that Satan uses to oppress us.
Can you imagine being given the answer to every last problem that you suffer in a pill? Just swallow it and everything comes right? God has the "Gos-pill". His name is Jesus. Take Lord Jesus on board, let Him lead you and guide you and you problems will dissipate. It will take time. Years maybe for some issues. God is patient. He loves you. He did not have to save you, but He has. Jesus came to be the friend of sinners. You qualify as you know that you sin.

Satan is a cunning enemy. Unfortunately, he targets people like you and me who have mental proneness to dysfunction (not our fault) and leaves the high and mighty alone. Why does he leave them alone? Because he already has them in his back pocket. So his rage is against the believers, especially people who are prone to problems in their mind and who are isolated.

Satan is doing what is called "bullying" you. He's laughing in your face and throwing you for a loop. Unfortunately, since your mind does not work properly on its own (no shame in that) it's important to get both a psychiatrist and a caring therapist on board with whom you can process the things that are bothering you. Regardless of what any Christian says, you cannot treat psychotic or delusional disorders using scripture alone. That would be as foolish as having kidney disease and then claiming healing through the atonement on the cross when there are doctors who specialize in kidney disease and who could help you get better.

We don't live in the dark ages anymore (morally we do, but that's another story) where you don't have access to high quality medical and psychiatric care. People with physical or mental problems 1000 years ago were basically sent home to suffer and die. Thankfully we were born into a different age.

Prioritize your prayer, your thanksgiving, your gratitude, your speaking scripture over your life. But do not neglect the ordinary, foundational, first line of defense, which is psychiatric and psychological help. The mental health help you receive from professionals is like the scaffolding on a building that is not yet constructed. It supports the structure while work is being done to make it stand on its own. Trying to steady the tottering edifice using scripture is not going to be enough. People don't want to believe this, but they have no problem telling you to get vaccinated for the flu, for getting brain surgery, or for taking pills for high blood sugar. Western medicine does not cure our problems but it does have its place. Resist the stigma regarding getting mental health help, and if you don't already have a doctor, get one pronto.
