More than half of Americans say Trump is racist, including 80% of African-Americans, a new poll found

Interesting poll - I don't think it surprises too many, but I didn't realize the numbers were so extreme.
  • Just over half of the US says President Donald Trump is racist, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.
  • This poll, conducted July 25 to 28 and released Tuesday, came as Trump continues to face widespread criticism over tweets attacking lawmakers of color.
  • There's a stark divide on this issue along both partisan and racial lines.
  • 46% of white people said Trump is racist, compared to 80% of black people, the poll found.
  • Meanwhile, the poll showed 91% of Republicans believe Trump is not racist, compared to 86% of Democrats who say he is.

Polls aren't worth the paper they are written on...they are way to dependent on who, when and where and can change from one day to the next depending on who participates, when and where they are.

I guess I will never understand how they do these polls, and how they can claim what they do.

It's just a matter of math. You take data, breaking down the sizes of demographic groups and then sample the correct percentage of each of them to figure out how it works. It's very successful. On the average, pollsters called the 2016 and 2018 elections down to less than 2 percent error.

It's why companies pay millions to do that kind of sampling; the data is the only way to accurately measure consumer preferences, or political beliefs.

So 1,306 people represent all of America?

If it's the right 1,306 people. That's the issue. It's why, for example, Rasmussen is so much less accurate than many other pollsters. They only directly call people with land lines.

Why do businesses spend all that money polling to find what people think? It works. If it didn't work, they wouldn't spend a nickel on it. But it does work and that's why even people who publicly denounce polls, (like Trump) still pay for them secretly.

They throw that R card out like it's nothing now days.

And it's a shame but,
most are hip to the game.

How many will be deceived in 2020?
Not enough so as to
mess up Trump's reelection.

"Trump was called Racist for not letting the Black have a free ride."

Not one person has said this.

This is a lie currently being promoted by the Right. Unfortunately, this has become their typical modus operandi.

What has been said is that Trump discriminated against minorities APPLYING to live in his rental properties. This has been substantiated by court records filed at that time.

P.S. Trump has NEVER denied this ....

So ... I guess all that's left is to circulate some FAKE NEWS ...

Racists always like to tell stories like that to justify racism. That's how they roll.

Pretty hard to deny it. He had to sign with the federal government to stop doing it.

So ... I guess all that's left is to circulate some FAKE NEWS ...

One does what one can, with what one has, I suppose.

It's why companies pay millions to do that kind of sampling; the data is the only way to accurately measure consumer preferences, or political beliefs.

I remember Pew research, and others saying 2016 polls were off. I remember reading article after article during that time with them trying to figure out what went wrong.

Maybe they figured it out - I don't know. I find it hard to believe they can cover the many multitudes of cultures, backgrounds, etc within a small sampling of 1300 people.

Now if you were polls a smaller aspect of something in culture, local politics, etc? I see using a smaller number, because you are speaking of a smaller number in the target market (for lack of a better term).

If it's the right 1,306 people. That's the issue. It's why, for example, Rasmussen is so much less accurate than many other pollsters. They only directly call people with land lines.

Polls have their place - no question. I still question the small number of people when they wish to claim 'all' of America is represented. People can claim math or data all they want. 1300 people can't possibility represent 327.2 million people. You have way to many aspects of this country that would outnumber the 1300. This country is more diverse than the poll gives it credit for.

Who knows who pays for what secretly. lol its not a secret if people know - ya know?! I would assume he also uses them to some extent, and he uses the denunciation due to the polls being off during his election. That shouldn't surprise anyone. Any politician would do that. They would be dumb not too. It's part of their game. I can't think of one politician who wouldn't.

What do you mean Trump never denied this?

First, Trump, 27 at the time and 4 years out of college was working for his father, although Trump was named in the suit along with his father as I think he was a partner at the time.

Second, when the government filed the case in court, the Trumps filed a countersuit for 100 million against the government for defamation and libel declaring they had no discriminatory rental practices.

There were people in the suit saying opposing things. There were black people who rented from Trump who claimed they were not discriminated against since they were quite obviously living in Trump apartments.

There were people who were responsible for rental applications and such saying at no time were there any instructions for them to discriminate, and others saying the opposite, that they had been told to discriminate.

In the end, a settlement on the case was reached and the government and Trump Management entered into a consent decree in June 1975.

The Trumps admitted no wrongdoing and were prohibited from "discriminating against any person in the terms, conditions, or privileges of sale or rental of a dwelling." They were also required to take out advertisements notifying minority individuals that they had an equal opportunity to seek housing at Trump properties.

Both the federal government and Trump hailed the settlement as a victory.

But if you notice, the Trumps were NEVER found guilty. And they NEVER admitted wrongdoing. They complied with the settlement and that was it.

This is not "proof of racism that Trump never denied." They denied it when they filed a 100 million dollar countersuit and were never found guilty of any wrongdoing.

and how long ago did this occur? I was what, 7? And whose company was it really at the time?

this is silly.

My point is that Trump has not denied the truth of the situation I described (I.e. that he was accused).

Thank-you for, additionally pointing out, that Trump settled with the government, ... which included making restitution for the accused offenses.

It's not proof Trump did anything wrong... lots of people and companies settle simply due to cost of lawyers and courts etc.

And this was his fathers company when he was fresh out of college. I am unclear how this somehow = Trump being racist.

It's like walking into upside down world I swear.. Anything goes right?

In the American system of law, ... partners in a corporation are liable for the infractions of that corporation.

Trump certainly benefitted from doing business alongside his father. He must share in the responsibility, as well ...

ahh.. I actually thought she was born here. thank you for the heads up.
Indeed and now they believe she is here illegally. She is being investigated for marrying her brother to do so...apparently she is also married to someone else too, although by now she may have divorced her brother...I'm not sure.

this is the reporter:
5657339484307640008b5aa4-750-422.jpg

and he was talking about him specifically and an article the reporter had written (that President Trump then quoted from) about President Trump.

found here: Video appears to show Trump mocking the physical condition of a reporter during a South Carolina rally
I will say, if you want to defend him, claiming "His memory isn't what it should be." really isn't a good defense. :sorry:
tulc(that people still defend President Trump about this is pretty sad) :sigh:

The stupidity of this is unbelievable.
Yes, of course Trump Corp. discriminated. As did literally thousands of companies in those days.
They all had millions of dollars tied up in properties they had to keep fully rented. And along comes the government, reacting to legal threats from liberal organizations, telling them they have to submit to regulations that will leave 3/4 of their properties vacant and costing them hundreds and hundreds of thousands... often weekly. Of course they all kept right on doing business the way they always had... the way their renters wanted it, and the only way they were willing to continue renting from them.
The government filed this kind of paper on thousands of companies. And all of them, like Trump Corp, did their duty and promised to be good little boys.
Do you think the government expected anything different? Of course not... they weren't all just going to lose everything they had invested in.
They just got wiser and more careful and secretive, and the attempted lawsuits did little more than build an even larger divide between the races.

Mimicking another is considered the highest of compliments.
so if you walked into a school and walked up to a kid with cerebral palsy and you started pretending to have cerebral palsy everyone would clap and tell you how complimentary you were being to the kid? Could you try that and video tape how many people compliment you on your mimicry skills? I think everyone would love to see that.

The only mocking going on is the mockingbird press and the bandwagon that follows them.

I'm not selling anything...just stating the facts about polls. Indeed...such wishy washy things they are...so that if you poll 100,000 people from one state and 100,000 from another and another and so on...you are going to have inconsistent results.

So nope...polls aren't worth the paper they are written on...they will always be hit or miss...but never an accurate measure of anything and extremely easy to manipulate.

I remember Pew research, and others saying 2016 polls were off.

The Real Clear Politics aggregate of polls predicted that Clinton would win the popular vote by 3.2%. She won it by 2.1%,
RealClearPolitics - Election 2016 - General Election: Trump vs. Clinton

which seems like a pretty good call to me. The polls likewise accurately called the blue wave in 2018.

Polls have their place - no question. I still question the small number of people when they wish to claim 'all' of America is represented.

It's just a statistically valid sample which gives you an answer to (usually) 90% confidence within a certain range of results.

People can claim math or data all they want. 1300 people can't possibility represent 327.2 million people.

If your sampling is accurate, it will give you a very accurate estimate. Which is why the poll aggregate was so close in 2016 and 2018.

uhmmm...I might point out the polls were accurate in predicting millions more people were going to not be voting for President Trump then voted for him, and they were right. It wasn't the polls that were wrong, what was wrong was predicting the poll results.
