I've rather stayed quiet on this, simply because I don't really like going into what's going on in my life on a web-forum, but I've moved into my new apartment (my primary source of debt, HOORAY FOR MORE DEBT!) and will attend orientation in a few days as the Semesters around the country begin soon.

I'm a bit anxious in terms of what to expect, simply because most impressions that I've received from people who finished Law School are either pure and unabashed regret that they went to Law School, and others have basically made it seem like it's the Vorkuta Gulag, where death is a possible certainty. I'm also a bit anxious about not only surviving, but doing well enough to get a local job which will allow me to pay off my debt and get my feet kickin in terms of being able to manage my finances and live my life, the shift in rigidity and quantity of work to my schedule, socializing with unknown faces (as I tend to be quite immature and sometimes awkward when it comes to my social skills), finding a good Church community, and obviously, being able to have a decent enough spiritual life which will be hard, not only because said spiritual life is hard with tons of commitment to other things, but also the fact that it's been rather bad lately.

I ask for your prayers.

I don't want to pressure you but what is your goal with "Law School"? I always heard it is difficult to get good grades there and that going there does not mean you will get a job right away. That's why I won't get into Law School when I get my degree in Political Science (when I come back to the US).

I honestly don't know yet, which again - scary. I have some general ideas, but it will have to be a balance between something that is pragmatic (so something like Campaign Law or Sports Law or Civil Rights Law or International Law, etc.) is not an option, but - ideally - something that will force my hand in doing immoral things almost all the time (Environmental Law I heard is notorious; because while most people do it to help the environment, most jobs end up as workers for businesses; Public Defenders are a no go, or even just Criminal Law in general). Although the very nature of law is the achievement of justice and trying to see both points of view to ultimately reach a conclusion, and I'm aware of that, it's not as if the legal system as a whole is perfect.

The ideas that come to mind are those that deal with Civil Law, which one of my high school teachers was who was kind of an inspiring figure (he worked primarily in cases that dealt with Personal Injury); but more specific possibilities include Tax Law, Family Law, Medical Malpractice Law, Copyright Law, etc.

Business Law is also a possibility, but the problem there is that I've heard while possible to do such a degree without Business experience - my Mother's co-worker is a Corporate Lawyer who works for her company, which is a big financial managment Silicon Valley company, who only received a JD and an English Degree, yet makes big bucks - there are folks who are more competitive in hiring with business experience, especially when schools - my school included - have dual MBA JD programs.

While, again, I don't know what to expect, I do have a some confidence in my abilities in the school. My LSAT score is in like the 80th Percentile of the school I'm attending in last year's class, and while my GPA is only above the 50th Percentile, it would have actually been higher had it not been for my stupidity for taking Chemistry as my physical science GE and self-paced Russian at the same time, whose difficulty made things hard one semester which substantially lowered my GPA. I think that - while perhaps I may not get 4.0s, as long as I don't get too abysmally low of a GPA, I'll be okay. I also know that in who I am personality wise, when I'm stressed out, I'll do everything possible to get rid of that stress - and when I had a very rough Summer program, I pushed myself to get good grades in that program.

But again, I don't know what to expect, and am stressed from that fear of not doing well enough. In fact, last night, I had a nightmare where I was kicked out of Law School because it was revealed that I flunked my undergraduate classes of last semester.

I'm also planning to look for internships this Semester for the Summer, so hopefully that works out.

So God help me. You do bring up a lot of points about uncertainty, and I need your prayers.

Prayers! Hope you get something comfortable.

And thanks for making me think about my future with POLS. :help:
