There's a list of them in 1 Cor. 12, all believers are supposed to have one, whats yours?
and what truth is that? Just curious ..I seem to have only received the "gift" of agitating others.....especially the kind of people that pretend to be going out of their way for others, but have a hidden motive to do so (but it DOES seem to bring out the truth that has been hiding under the surface).
That these people do NOT have good intentions - that they have selfish intentions and their "niceness" quickly wears off around me (for a few people to see).and what truth is that? Just curious ..
What people though? People you have met and talked to before? That these people do NOT have good intentions - that they have selfish intentions and their "niceness" quickly wears off around me (for a few people to see).
I'm not sure I understand your point? Are you referring to this thread in general (and suggesting that those of us that have posted are "boasting"?). Or......are you referring to what I had posted about how some people masquerade their intentions to others as being "good" when, actually, they have purely selfish motives?Well if someone has to boast about a spiritual gifts and good works they doing for the world, how is that being geniune? Doesn't the Lord see what goes on outwardly and inwardly? Why does it matter to others what a person is doing as long as the Lord is doing the rewarding and sees all? In what way is boasting about the goodness one is doing anything in the world? It just shows that person is doing it to receive praise from the world, but we are not here to please man but God. Can't people do good for the world without a public announcement?
Yes. People I have had experiences with. What people though? People you have met and talked to before?
I'm just venting. And I think everyone has a motive until found out some motives are probably just more innnocent or worst then others...and who is good? Last time I checked Jesus said no one was good but God..I'm not sure I understand your point? If it's the latter - I think it's helpful for others to know the truth about their intentions, as they were typically manipulating others. Lies and deceit are never good (and bring harm to situations).

But even then a light can be seen from anywhere in this world. Because a light shines and considering it is a light, it can not be hidden. We don't need to show and tell, we only need to do what Jesus said, let your light shine before men so they can praise our heavenly father in heaven. But since there is so much announcement in this world it seems like it's only to get approval and much praise from this world. The only thing we should be rejoicing in is the truth, as long as the Lord sees what does it matter what others think. The Lord knows who is geniune and who is not. Because you are a light in this world, you only need to shine...Agreed. Though I pretty much just end up getting drained though instead if I have to interact with them like when they're the clerk / manager / etc. behind the counter. Especially with just unhappiness. All I can do is smile back, and fortunately that does brighten their mood sometimes too. I just think how common it may be in their day for others to reflect back at them their attitude, and so I do my best to be one to brighten it !
This is something I've dealt with myself. Honestly, practically life-long I have sought some kind of anything to have with all that I don't thanks to having Asperger syndrome and mental illness, and I have to admit that is vanity, but so as OP says these gifts of the spirit as a real thing and the Holy Spirit always bestows them, so hopefully they're real for me. But I've learned that even with the gifts I think I have they have not genuinely made me happy or even love God more. In fact, I feel quite guilty for every blessing I've had I've been mad at God ten times instead, and I deserve nothing. So, by His Grace I am able to serve Him at all, gifts or not. But yes, even bringing attention to the gifts one has and how they work for oneself I think it can be hard to without boasting about them because they are meant to work in the background.
This may be going off on a tangent - but this phrase happens to be a pet peeve of mine ("no one was good but God"). It causes us to be unable to resolve interpersonal conflicts. Perfect is one thing.....but I believe we need to be able to discern lies from truth (and some people can't discern genuine kindness and compassion from the manipulative variety).I'm just venting. And I think everyone has a motive until found out some motives are probably just more innnocent or worst then others...and who is good? Last time I checked Jesus said no one was good but God..
There wouldn't be no conflict if we all stop competing and judging one another. And it should not be a peeve if Jesus said it...This may be going off on a tangent - but this phrase happens to be a pet peeve of mine ("no one was good but God"). Well.....yeah, in a perfect world (but, just as you're pointing out, we are NOT there yet - and situations call for people to see what's truly right and what's wrong). There wouldn't be no conflict if we all stop competing and judging one another. And it should not be a peeve if Jesus said it...
