JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel said Thursday that it will bar two Democratic congresswomen from entering the country ahead of a planned visit over their support for a Palestinian-led boycott movement, a decision announced shortly after President Donald Trump tweeted that it would "show great weakness" to allow them in.

I guess if you support a movement designed to harm a country, that country might not welcome you as a guest.

Especially if the President of a country that buys your loyalty for four billion a year doesn't want you to.

He didn't invent our creepy love affair with Israel.

Statement of the supremely obvious. I'm reasonably sure that most countries would do the same.

Really great loyalty. Terrific. Net’s a great guy. Getting along great. Cool military, too. Lots of trucks. Mr. Trump loves trucks.

Sorry, I'm a veteran and a Navy brat (I also aspire to be a charitable Christian when I can), so I'm hesitant to take every good shot I get at the CIC. I felt the same way about Obama, and all the way back to LBJ (the first sitting one for me).
I would say that calling on an allied country to bar entry to American politicians simply because he doesn't like them is crossing a line.

I suspect that the decision was made with more correspondence than that to which we are privy. I can hardly picture the President calling the Prime Minister and just blurting out "Hey, Dude, you can't let those chicks in your country. That's gonna look bad for you guys," (well, actually, I can imagine that part pretty vivdly, but) with Netanyahu responding with something like "You know? You're absolutely right, man. I never thought of it that way. Cool. Thanks. Catch ya later."

What's unbelievable to me is urging the entire world to boycott a country, and then expecting "business-as-usual" hospitality from them.

That's certainly possible, but what we see is Israel saying that they wouldn't deny them access, then reversing that decision hours after a tweet from the President saying that they shouldn't let them in. Regardless of any back-channel communications, publicly making a statement like that - supporting a foreign country over your own citizens - is crossing a line for the President, in my opinion.

I do love the way all these conspiracy nuts think President Trump actually uses Twitter to communicate with Heads of State. ^_^
Well, it's either that or he's using Twitter to publicly gloat about two of his own citizens being banned from a country that's supposedly an ally. I can't say that's a better look for him.

You mean those conspiracy nuts like actual foreign heads of state who have described on multiple occasions first hearing about Trump policies towards their countries via Twitter?

A poster is reminded that words have power, even when misspelled and misused.
