What is Heaven Like.

So many wonderfull posts, deeply appreciate the kind words of support. When I first started thinking about this my mind really started wandering. Does an angel come for you, do you float above your body before being drawn into the light? Do loved ones greet you, can you even recognize them, does your relationship with the Lord change.

What I think is it's like the boosm of Abraham, the opposite of hell that holds the disembodied souls of the children of perdition near the lake of fire. There is no pain, hunger or fatigue because you no longer have a body. I can't believe your alone but how fellowship works is a mystery to me.

Like all creation we will wait in anxious expection for the child of God to be revealed and the Son of Man to return in power and glory. I believe the filling of the Spirit will be complete, God's grace will emerse us and the love of God will transcend every fiber of our being.

The eye has not seen nor the ear heard what God has prepared for those who love him and are called according to his purpose. Most imortantly we are with the Lord. I don't know, is this when we see him as he is?

I know I can be gone tomnorow or live to be hundred, whatever the case, God's will be done. I'm grateful for the time I have to get my affairs in order.

Again, some truely wonderfull responses, I smile at everyone. We don't know but we walk by faith not by sight. I pray that our thoughts of heaven teach us to set our hearts on the Lord and reaffirm our commitment to cherish and build up the body of Christ. God's blessings on each and every one of you, be of good courage, God's grace is sufficient.

As a Christian: what brings you the greatest joy?
Helping and serving others, working with the Spirit, and being useful seems to bring Paul and Christ happiness, so is that what we should want?
Can we really "do" anything for the Creator of the universe?
We can allow God to work through us doing wonderful things that allows us to participate with Him, so what could we do together in Heaven?
If there are those in heaven who never had the opportunity to fulfill their earthly objective which cannot be completed in heaven, than they will need to be protected and preserved for eternity, so could we do that?

Yes, we have dreamed up many images and ideas in an effort to understand what Heaven might be like. But the fact is, it is so far beyond anything human beings have ever experienced on Earth, that our wildest imaginings cannot even scratch the surface.

There will be righteous people, peace and joy. How the peace and joy come, I believe it comes from love that unites the people.

So sorry to hear of your diagnosis Mark but dear brother, God must be nearly ready for you.
I don't think that we can really perceive how wonderful heaven will be like, but we know Jesus is preparing a place for us. It is, as Christians, our true home

What we can be sure of is that as soon as we pass we are in Gods presence.

The most wonderful thing that I ever hold onto is Revelation 21:4. And God (HIMSELF!) shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I pray peace for you, any fear taken away and that you will rest easy, knowing Gods will be done and you are most surely His precious child.

I got a really bad diagnosis from an oncologist, he is talking a year. Now I've been a Christian since my teens, so death is a one way ticket home when you think about it. So I started thinking about something I really had not thought of before. What is heaven like?

Harps, clouds, angels, loved ones, streets of gold, songs of salvation. I realized I had no idea, I was wondering what others might think. I've heard the beyond and back stories, floating above your body, seeing a light, being greeted by loved ones who went before.

Are we aware of what goes on back here? Can we visit others after death, just briefly before moving on? Does absent from the bidy present with the Lord mean we can have heart to hearts with the Lord? Can we meet the saints, are we assigned duties, or just wait patiently?

I'm not going to take anyone to task, surely you've wondeted. It's ok, feel free to speculate a little.

BTW, don't make a big deal over the poll, it's just some idle thoughts.

You will be in my prayers every night. May God give you peace and comfort for your journey.

My father was a minister for over 60 years and spent a lot of time with people who passed away. He heard many of them talk about loved ones already there, singing, lights, colors, happiness, and beauty beyond imagination. The last two chapters of Revelation is a good place to learn a little bit about Heaven. I think that Heaven is one of those places that you would just have to be there to know how wonderful and beautiful it is.

My mother passed away at 94 and said that her fondest wish was to see her Saviour face to face. I'm sure that she did, but I want to talk to her about that one day.

I just wanted to say, this book is one of the most amazing books about Heaven I've ever read. Thorough, thoughtful, and theologically sound. The implications of what Heaven will be like are truly woven throughout the Scriptures and Randy Alcorn does an excellent job bringing these implications to light. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who has any questions about Heaven. Makes me start to cry just thinking about some of the things in Randy's book.

Mark, I'm praying for your healing and full recovery. But I have to say something that can be uncomfortable to say. Brother, these are the days to "live like you were dying" so to speak. Live it up bro. Make all those memories you know you need to make with all those people you know you have to make them with. No matter what happens, the manner in which you write this chapter will inspire those you love for generations. This is an opportunity unlike any other. Don't let it pass you by.

So sorry to hear your bad news. My father was just given 6 months.. but he's 92 years old and, for us, it's like he's just getting ready for a trip that could have come anytime for the last 20 years.

There is a sweet sadness in knowing however. Some are just taken and many things are never said that should be.

As far as heaven... We cannot imagine the paradise that waits for us. Pure love, Pure peace, music that is beyond our wildest dreams. Never hungry but can eat whatever we like, no tiredness, no sickness, no worry

AND it is going to feel new everyday.

My fathers oldest brother past away 9 years ago. He was not very aware of anything the last months of his life.. mostly slept and ate... not much emotion.

One afternoon, while he was barely awake and not very aware.. He sat upright in his bed, got the biggest smile on his face, bright eyed and joyous... put his arms out as if to hug someone and slumped back dead and gone... just like that.

My dads next older brother was bed ridden with a feeding tube for 3 years after a stroke. He said that he had a dream of his mom, dad and late brother coming to him at the foot of his bed and asking him to stop fighting and come home.. saying it's so beautiful here you won't believe it...He passed last summer.

Sorry to hear this, but happy for you too. I recommend the book "All things New" by John Eldredge, and the song " Elijah" by Rich Mullins. And the description of the New Jerusalem in Revelations. Revelation 21 and remember doctors aren't always right, God could still do a miracle.
