It isn’t your platform. Complaining about something you’re using free of charge is pointless.

If you want to avoid censorship, host it on your server. Problem solved. You get what you pay for.

Many don't know how to do this.

You upload it to your server or host it on a CDN. Anyone who knows how to add a video to YouTube knows how to put one on their website. Most don’t do the latter because its free.

You cannot expect to use someone’s property and dictate to them. That makes no logical sense. If you want control you have to spend money or abide by YouTube’s terms.

You might want to research Google and China (which of course includes Youtube), and thus the censoring that is revving up BIG TIME.

You have a point about "property" and "ownership". Perhaps it's time to dismantle them, particularly via the Federal Trade Commission.

I mean, they're such a "giant" with tyrannical tendencies, that it kinda' reminds ya' of David and Goliath. Yu know, that big ol' bad bully of a giant, doesn't it?

I am well-versed in the requirements for all the major platforms. I operate a business in this space. The free ride ended ages ago. They’re pay to play platforms and have been for a while.

I would never vote for that. You don’t have to use them. Nor would I subject another business to scrutiny I wouldn’t want in my own. That pushes the fairness card too far.

Businesses don’t have to meet the needs of every consumer in a capitalist society. We target a market and operate within that space. Few serve everyone. They always have an ideal customer.

You will always have disgruntled users/customers. It goes with the territory.

The Federal Trade Commission may disagree with you.

Huge tech giants are many times a "monopoly" and with that, provide a dis-service that interferes with the unbiased, free-flow of information, based on deception and corruption and mis-information.

These tyrannical monopolies need to be dismantled.

It's long past due.

Today’s giants were yesterday’s pebbles. Companies with vision and an ability to innovate and adapt will always outpace their peers.

You are neglecting the reality that people choose their services over others. No one is forcing them. If they’re unwieldy it’s the result of consumers ignoring other options in deference to theirs.

Dismantlement won’t alleviate the next Google, Amazon or Apple. Some are gifted at business far more than most. They’ll rise to the top as their forefathers did.

If you find them bothersome, build an alternative.

Agreed.

A lot of this could be alleviated if the government launched it's own Internet services: video hosting, domain registration, etc. As those would be owned and controlled by the government, the entire Constitution would apply and at least then Silicon Valley would have no way to shut people up for expressing opinions they consider loathsome.

It's not a perfect solution but it's something.

Whining about one’s message not being heard ..... makes me wonder if it’s really a message worth hearing.....

People whining about being stifled by Google, etc. may not be getting heard because they have nothing worth hearing. Dismantling Google isn’t going to make someone’s message any better.

That's a rather drastic mischaracterization of the problem.

It's a start.

That is easy for you to say. You’re not a builder. It is a start because you don’t have the knowledge to create an alternative. You’re dependent on someone else’s genius. And that will hold true for the next iteration and so on.

It is odd that none of the social media platforms have Christian founders. It is interesting that most of the technical giants can say the same. Maybe you’re praying for the wrong thing. You should lend your prayers and financial support to Christian startups.

The FTC will always side with the moneyed. That will never change. Even if the shell game says otherwise. They threatened the same about Microsoft and broke up the Bells only for them to rise again.

No country can survive without the creative class. You have benefited from the goods and services they produce. Capitalism rewards those with a capacity to build and compete. As it should.

It's a start.

There’s an assumption there that an ostensibly Christian run site would be better. There are endless examples of horrendous things happening under the political direction of religious groups. And from what I’ve seen, the US right wing media doesn’t just control the information they put out, they doctor and tailor it until there is nothing left but their own, self-reinforcing message. I certainly wouldn’t want to use some nationalist, gun-toting ‘Christian’ media platform to tell me what to think, give me YouTube any day.

That's not necessary.

Bluehost, one of the major web hosts in the world, is already owned by Mormons. If Mormons can set up a prominent web host, then certainly the Roman Catholic Church could at least set up servers for their own web site.

I know a guy who runs a system out of his front room. The room is full of server racks running his own hosting service (he started back in the early 80s with a bulletin board).

Breaking up Ma Bell is not an exception to your statement. The "moneyed" merely realized there was more money to be made at the state of technology at that time with regional companies.

Precisely. But many believed the spin that it was better for consumers. ;-)
