Geno's, mmmmmmm.....Cheesesteak.

I actually lived south of the city in Delaware County Pennsylvania. There was a cheese steak joint there named "Leo's"...The best, but by the time you get the steak, Coke, Heer's Chips, and a Tasty Cake, you have to go lay down. I really liked being stationed there...my wife, HATED IT. Guess that's why I live in Tampa now.

Hi RLH,

I applaud the work that they did and would encourage that they not stop with just Baltimore. As another poster has said, Philadelphia apparently has some trashy neighborhoods and I know from my time in Miami-Dade that there are plenty of neighborhoods there that could use a general clean up. I think that most every big city has places that could use a 'clean up' day.

I think the papers make some good points in explaining how the people there, while certainly thankful for the help, overall, might be a bit wary of the 'purpose'. People who don't want to see President Trump re-elected, and I'm sure in most any good sized city there are at least a few, don't want to give any kind of good deed credit for anything that he does or may be behind. But, I think that's pretty standard in politics.

Right now in the political realm, Republicans don't want to give Democrats a chance to do anything that might be perceived as good and vice versa. It's just a basic belief that if one party is seen as doing something good, then they're liable to win votes.

As far as what was written about Mr. Presler, he is a Republican activist. He does seminars that are titled 'Republican activism training'. Personally, he'd likely be better accepted overall if he just set up these clean up days, (he now has one scheduled for Newark NJ 8/25) without the party affiliation. Just call on people, Republicans, Democrats, Independents and others to come out and clean up cities. So yes, I'm confident that's part of why his motives are questioned. He tends to want to make this a political party issue rather than a just, "Hey, let's all pitch in and help."

God bless,
In Christ, ted
Hi Ted. I think the purpose was clear. Some people saw the plight and helped out.

Exactly.

It's a GOOD thing to help out any way we can. Even ONE person can make a difference.

God help us.

WHY would this be condemned?

This is how I see it:
Philippians 1: 15-21 said:
15-17 It’s true that some here preach Christ because with me out of the way, they think they’ll step right into the spotlight. But the others do it with the best heart in the world. One group is motivated by pure love, knowing that I am here defending the Message, wanting to help. The others, now that I’m out of the picture, are merely greedy, hoping to get something out of it for themselves. Their motives are bad. They see me as their competition, and so the worse it goes for me, the better—they think—for them.

18-21 So how am I to respond? I’ve decided that I really don’t care about their motives, whether mixed, bad, or indifferent. Every time one of them opens his mouth, Christ is proclaimed, so I just cheer them on!

And I’m going to keep that celebration going because I know how it’s going to turn out. Through your faithful prayers and the generous response of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, everything he wants to do in and through me will be done. I can hardly wait to continue on my course. I don’t expect to be embarrassed in the least. On the contrary, everything happening to me in this jail only serves to make Christ more accurately known, regardless of whether I live or die. They didn’t shut me up; they gave me a pulpit! Alive, I’m Christ’s messenger; dead, I’m his bounty. Life versus even more life! I can’t lose.
Motives are in Gods hands, not ours. As long as people are helped I have no real problem with it.

Hi RLH,

Right, and they're now going to go to Newark. I think it's a good effort and I hope that they continue to go into every neighborhood where such is needed. We could have teams from both parties or make it just one non-party affiliated group of volunteer city sanitation workers. I have always applauded volunteerism.

I would even applaud either party, or again just a non-party affiliated group, that would go out and clean a lot of the Interstate Hwy system and other limited access highways. Litter and trash have become eyesore problems in a lot of areas.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Hi RLH,

Hopefully nobody. I'm not sure why you responded that way. I was perfectly serious in my approval of this effort and hope to see it continue.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

We could follow their example in our local communities. Is Newark near you Ted?

That's a lovely idea, and it's actually a "ministry". All of us can do our part. It is a ministry in so many ways, and it's a wunnerful way to meet people, even drug dealers, etc. and bring some "light" into the darkest of places, so to speak.

Thank you for mentioning this. :)

So who is more questionable re their motive?

A bunch of Republicans who get together to do a really good deed and ask absolutely nothing in return?
. . .or. . .
Somebody who questions their motive and says 12 tons isn't all that much?
And?

Sure, first off, lets disregard the fact we are talking about 12 tons of garbage strewn around the streets and sidewalks. A typical garbage dump truck holds about 9 tons of trash. Go get just 1 full truck and throw the trash all over the place in your neighborhood. Check out how much 9 tons of garbage isn't. Your neighbors will love you.

Who is talking about garbage trucks and why would I throw the trash in the truck all over the place? You abosulty make no sense.
As to helping out my neighobrs. I do and I certainly do NOT make the statement it is because I am an Independant

Conservative activist--Get it? The guy is going to do whatever he can to promote the conservatives.

He was making a point about how much garbage 12 tons is when others were claiming it wasn't all that much.

I pick #1, but then you asked the question wrongly.

That is just it--he got this group of volunteers to do it for a political statement. He admits right there that he is a political activist who supports Donald Trump to effecitively garner good will for the conservative cause. You, as a conservative are reading the story, aren't you?
Once again:

Matthew 6:3
But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

Why or why do we have to make these things a political statement?

Why does it have to be this 12 tons? Is that a number more to claim bragging rights?
He is admittedly is a conservative activist--that tells me right there that it wasn't so much that he and they cared-- it more was to make a statement.
