Absolutely. Unless the weather and roads (and insects) are really bad I'm rummaging around in the Black River State Forest in central Wisconsin about once a week year 'round. Going up tomorrow to cut firewood.

I feel close to God there=peace, if to describe it with one word. I believe He meets me there, I've seen some profound things there both from scripture and out of nature itself. Happy? Depends what I'm doing? Like if I catch a nice sized salmon I'm pretty happy about that, certainly excited. No the one word description is peace or you could sub in calm.

Generally, yes. Depends on the mosquitoes. My work took me into the woods most all my life. I have encountered the spiritual very rarely and only there. Maybe only 2 or 3 times in my life.

I enjoy the beauty and solitude, but I'm usually out there looking for something to put into the freezer, or burn in my fireplace.

Yeah, it's really important for me to get out into the woods or be near the sea. Luckily I live within walking distance of both. I've always found it strengthens my faith to be out there in awe of God's creation; it reminds me how small I am and how mighty He is.

Happier than when? I love being "out in nature" as God's glory fills the natural world, but I also love my wife, children, and grandchildren. The second makes the first pale in comparison.

I'm also very happy when I'm working in my woodshop, making something to use outdoors.
