How is Salvation, or anything you get from God, a "free gift" if our own will got it for us...?

I know and full realize what it is I Believe about Salvation and I can assure you it wasn't me that got it for me.

Can you provide the Scriptures which would bolster your perceived position?

You say many people believe that, even Christians.

Could you narrow the scope of the question to only Christians, we don't need to wonder or worry about the rest of the world when God is dealing with that aspect of things as we speak?

So your asking this question for all of those Christians who wonder about such things, it isn't for you own information you seek an answer?

You see, I need to know what the motivation for the question is, will I be speaking to your understanding, or about other Christians in general?
I would set out to prove that we don't really choose anything, not even one thing, against those who would say that we do, ect...?

This debate is about choice, do we really have it, or not...?

God Bless!

And I would ask that how is Salvation, or any of the supposed "free gifts" we get from God, really a free gift, if it is dependent upon our choice or choosing to get or have it, or attain it or attain to it, or get it, ect...?

God Bless!

Take "Faith" for example...

How many people think they are responsible or that they somehow chose for themselves to have faith, or "the Faith" ect, when that's not what I see at all...

I see God having already having had it arranged, or God already having chosen for them to have "faith" or "The Faith" (in Jesus) ect... Yet they take credit for it, and I think that is very wrong...

Same with all other things pertaining to the things of God, or faith or salvation, ect, they think it was them, when it was not, but it was all 100% God and not them at all...

True in my own case as well, ect...

God Bless!

Salvation isn't free; it cost the life of the Son of God. If you don't feel the cost of that, then you need to re-evaluate the validity of your salvation.
It's free to us, or is supposed to be at least, ect...

We can't work towards or for it so as to earn it, ect...

God Bless!

We've all felt that, but God/Jesus Christ does not want to live there or take up full permanent residence there, ect...

God Bless!

A free gift is simply a gift freely given. That doesn't mean that we don't have to do something to receive it.

It's not about earning the gift - gifts are never earnt - it's about receiving the gift.

I can choose not to receive that gift that my mother sent me. Because I don't like chocolate, and she really should know that by now!

It's become part of my style of writing lately, "ect"...
It's not "ect" it's "etc". Short for the Latin "et cetera", which means "and the rest". If you are going to use it, you should use it correctly.

ect is short for "ElectroConvulsive Therapy", which I'm pretty sure isn't what you meant.

No, if you have to make the choice to recieve or reject it, and/or beyond that, work towards it to keep and/or maintain or retain it, or have to choose to either accept or receive it or reject it, then it was not free because your choice determined it, etc.

God Bless!

No, because regardless of what you did with the gift, it was a freely given gift.
More importantly, it was a gift that you could not have acquired by yourself. So regardless of what "work" you reckon you did to get it, it is worth more than you could ever hope to give.
Your choice didn't determine anything, because if the gift wasn't on offer, then there is no way it could ever be yours.

I'm not arguing it's worth, I'm arguing the fact that if our choice in any way determined it, then it isn't 100% free.
