• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I see. I have not been diagnosed with paranoia but do have the tendency to worry too much.
I am not sure where the line is between the two. My guess is that paranoia is being worried without any valid reason, whereas worrying too much is more of taking your reasonable suspicion too far without hard evidence.

Like what if you don't mind me asking?
I use to worry a little too much about getting sick. And also someone dangerous coming into my house and doing something bad to me. Things like that. Keep in mind I was also really young....and had a lot of growing up to do. And I still DO have a lot of growing up to do, but at least I've matured in some ways....I think.

I think that could be considered paranoia if it is a random thought like that.

However, I think this would be different if you know of a history, pattern, or tendencies of a person in your life who would do such a thing.

For example, I have been afraid of a retaliation from someone with a history, pattern, and tendency of vindictiveness.

But a paranoid person would be afraid of retaliation from everyone, without any valid reason.

Of course, even with a valid reason to worry, excessive fear could turn into paranoia. This is something I need to be cautious of myself.

Hi guys. I haven't posted on this thread for a while so here's an update. For the past couple of months, my paranoia is getting worse. I'm afraid of talking to people now (both in person and over the phone) thinking if I said anything wrong or bad to them. I'm afraid to go out at times fearing I will run into people from my past. Almost agoraphobic. And lastly I get so worried that I'm going to be attacked or badly talked about whether in person, online (social media) or on the phone. I've been praying to god to help me calm down but it's not helping. Can anyone please help me on this?

Hey there! I wouldn't say I suffer from Paranoia but I do know what it feels like to excessively worry about my life's responsibilities, making sure you dot every i and cross every t. I hope you find a remedy, and I might suggest the very thing you're paranoid about doing will be your exit strategy to overcome this.
