As far as heaven goes, what we hear of it is our earthly concerns are gone, IE there is no marriage in heaven except to Jesus. If there is a similarity there that compares to here it's going to be about the business of God, about Jesus and ultimate peace within that. I suspect ( as someone said already, nobody really knows) all the pets you enjoyed on earth will be of no concern there. Anyway I love all the cats we ever owned but cleaning litter boxes is not on my bucket list of hopes and dreams for heaven.

I suspect just like for the Christian on earth it's going to be more about Jesus and the things of God than us there. But it says in scripture that we will be like Him and joint heirs to the throne. It says we will know what He knows and right here right now in my present body and situation in life on earth I find that a bit overwhelming to think about.

I think people are going to find heaven vastly different but in good ways from what we imagine here in this life. Old pets included ? I have no idea, I just hope they don't poop a lot if so. I think our earthly concerns and interests will be changed. I was wondering if there might be like a 100ft grand piano to play there or something like that. If there is, I'm sure it's played to the Lord.

We know there are different positions in heaven and different tasks according to our rewards on judgement day. We all make it to heaven who are born again but we don't all have it the same way or in the same place. We know there are three heavens or we could say degrees of heaven. John was taken to the third heaven, this indicates at least two other prospects besides before the throne room of God. It also indicates they are separate from hell. A bigger question than pets might be where in heaven will I be and what will I do there ? Well that's based on what rewards you have stored up in heaven, how you operated within your Christian walk, where your heart was at in Christ here on earth. These things are written in scripture.

I suppose if there is afterlife for pets this would indicate that they have souls and spirits. Nothing in scripture points to that.

This question has intrigued me.....

Here's what comes to mind for me:

God IS Creator. He CREATED creatures, and ALL was GOOD.

It is MAN who "fell", not animals.

It is MAN who direly needed a "Savior".

Not animals.

Yes, animals die, just as the earth is, because of the fall and the curse of sin. However, it is written that there will be a NEW heaven and earth.

Well it only stands to reason that this would include the animals that He created in the first place, before the fall. It is also written that yes, there WILL be animals in heaven.

And God is a very "reasoning"/"reasonable" God. He invites us to come, and "reason" WITH Him.

That's AWE-SOME, isn't it?

Look at this verse:

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:" ~Isa 1:18

If animals did not/do not need a Savior, it means that THEY are NOT the ones that are CONDEMNED. It is man.

God RESTORES what was destroyed (because of man's sin).

Of COURSE it includes animals that He declared GOOD before sin entered the scene.

Amen?

I wouldn't have wanted them scratching up the fine gold legs on the sofa anyway, so that's good news!

Aaaah, such well-mannered kitties they will be. Yes, that IS good news.

And gold legged sofas...never thought of that LOL!

I certainly hope that my beloved kitties will be in heaven. I agree with brinny, it was man who fell, not pets.

Anyone who has a dog or cat or other pet knows how loving they can be. When I was sick with an infection a few months back one of my kitties jumped up in bed with me. She was carry her favorite toy mouse. She looked me right in the eyes and dropped the mouse by my face. She knew I wasn’t well, and thought I might feel better if she shared her favorite toy with me. How can she not be in heaven?

The answer to the question appears to be no, but its correct to say that we just do not know. PLUS, it has been noted that, according to the Book of Revelation, John saw animals (the four horsemens' horses, for instance) so that's something worth considering.

The Lords Word is pretty much silent on this .... however, I do know the Lord is Huge on restoration ... so I am believing it is certainly a possibility. None the less ... there will be animals on the new earth, and we do know that.

Ecclesiastes 3:20-21
20 All go to one place; all come from dust, and all return to dust. 21Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and the spirit of the anima descends into the earth?

Whatever God has in mind will be perfect, because He's perfect! ;o)

Asians eat both dogs and cats. Jesus only saves people.

This is not the right section, but I love the topic.

There are definitely animals in heaven. Although Scripture does not specifically mention cats and dogs we know God created all animals and truly wants people to have pets. Nothing in the Bible indicates pets sin; only the serpent who tempted Eve was punished by God. People often say because only humans sin, if an innocent animal dies, nothing will block it from going to heaven.

All living beings have souls/spirits, including pets like dogs and cats. However, a requisite for entering heaven is to believe Jesus died for your sins and he is savior. Since animals lack the faculties for comprehending this fact, they cannot inherit salvation. The afterlife destination for dogs and cats is therefore the default state, which is hell.
