What Are Donald Trump's Strengths And Weaknesses As A Leader?
Vision

No one could say that Trump lacks a vision – his vision is “America First.” What does that mean in practice? It means jobs for Americans, a smaller U.S. trade deficit, a crackdown on illegal immigration and the end of freeloading European nations achieving their military security at the expense of the US defense budget. Today, we’ve all got a pretty good idea of what President Trump’s vision is, which, in some ways, is testament to his strength in articulating it. Arguably, however, there are some notable flaws in the strategy that he is using to achieve his vision – in particular, the trade tariffs, which already appear to be having unintended consequences at home, and some wildly unpopular immigration policies that have damaged his standing abroad.

Bit of errant pedantry for you M-Bob - title should be 'Trumps good points and one debatable bad point'.

I don't want to get carried away here, but, it's difficult to trust someone who has had so many affairs, twice traded in a wife for a younger model, who stiffs contractors and workers, and doesn't pay his debts. His general attitude towards and behaviour around the Queen, and other dignitaries and world leaders, is pretty cringeworthy and very disrespectful. Being a bully just because you can isn't a great quality.

As a leader he doesn't appear to give much thought to the consequences of his actions, and he shows a disturbing lack of empathy for others.

That's me putting it very mildly.

Trump said last night that, "we are one nation under God."

Curious, how many democrats believe that?

M-Bob
Curious ... who does Trump consider to be "we" ?

Certainly not the four freshman Congresswomen he targeted ...

If Trump would clean up his tweets a little his approval rating would probably jump to 65%.
M-Bob

Doubtful. Not only does Trump have many other bad points than just his tweets but even if he were a paragon of virtue, the most tolerant and the most inoffensive person on the planet those opposed to the policies he advances would still call him racist homophobic etc. It is what they do no matter who opposes them.

And you worked that out with - what? Comparisons with parallel universes? On what basis are you suggesting the current political climate would be different if Trump wasn’t Trump?

No need to work anything out. Just listening to the name calling going back decades. However, I believe I was suggesting that the political climate would be the same if Trump were not Trump.

I think you would be quite wrong... if trump had any virtue or character, tended to the business of the country instead of childish name calling - tweeting - watching TV - golfing, ceased his incessant self promotion and feeding his insatiable ego, chose not to lie constantly, and conducted himself with some dignity, etc. then we might disagree on policy issues but one could at least consider it is what he believes is best for America. (However, "If wishes were horses beggars would ride")

What are the effective differences between what we have with Canada/Mexico now vs. NAFTA before?
What has been actually accomplished with North Korea?
What has been accomplished with our European allies?
What has been accomplished with China?

Better trade deals than NAFTA for the US. Ongoing negotiations with North Korea, too early to tell, but at least they are talking, which didn't happen before. European allies are overrun with Muslims, which decrease the "allies" aspect as they are no longer the countries we use to know and associate with, so we will see how that goes. Just like the UN which has changed as more and more representatives in key positions are Muslims. China is also in the midst of negotiations so it is again too early to tell.

The changing face of the world into a Muslim/Communist/socialism is all downhill for the people of this world. That is not good. Without Trump the speed of political change would have been detrimental for the US which would have turned it into Venezuela within a short period of time thus fulfilling the rise of the beast in end time prophecies.

Gotta admit, I don't have any particular love for Israel. I think America needs to get out of the Mid-East altogether. Let them be an ally. If someone attacks them, then we support them like we would any other ally. But they ought not have any special status. Nothing good has ever come of us meddling in that part of the world.

If you truly don't know you may be watching the wrong news channel?
