can't you get better in your life situation?
can't you get better in your life situation?
but if you're poor and want to start a business? can't you be a person who gets higher in the pyramidI guess you mean this:
1 Corinthians 7:21-24: Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so. For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave. You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings. Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
Paul is not ruling out improving your situation. He's saying that, if you become a Christian, you shouldn't just quit your job (unless the job is evil). The normal situation is that you keep living your life, but as a Christian.
One of the things he's ruling out is a a custom some early Christians had of selling themselves into slavery and donating the money to charity. He's forbidding that.
