Hi ebedmelech,

Oh I thought when I said I agreed to the Lord having all authority, that that covered it. (re: John 17)
Christ throne is at the right hand of the Father. I gave several references on that.

Now for Mt Zion. great we both agree that that heavenly one, is in the third heaven. I`m sure you would agree that it symbolises where the ruler has His seat of Power and authority, as king David had his on earth in Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

So....WHEN does Ps. 2 say that the Lord will be reigning, operating in His great power & authority over the nations?

Marilyn.
Aside from Matthew 28:18, Ephesians 1:18-22, and Colossians 1:15-20...I think Hebrews 1 makes that pretty clear as well as Jesus clearly stating He is "Alpha and Omega" at Revelation 1:8.

Yes Jewish writings have a place, they give us the background and linguistic insight and cultural insight to better understand the words of Scripture, as originally spoken and not interpreted from a 21st century mindset.
Indeed.

Like one poser for you. A Passage says Jesus was leaving Bethany and at teh same time going to Bethany? How?
I've not come across that passage...and I've done a search and can't find such. Are you sure it isn't a misprint?

Jesus is the rightful heir! I never said different. Just not through Joseph! Kings come from a genealogical line! If you are a direct seed of Jeconiah- you cannot be an heir to the throne. Jesus is not a seed of Jeconiah.
That's understood. It's pretty clear Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit, which eliminates Joseph, therefore the curse on Coniah isn't a problem...and Matthew's genealogy remains valid.

Then ignore Him ! He is the last king of Judah even if put there by old Nebuchadnezzar! He had royal blood (Uncle to Jechoniah). Most of the kings of Israel and Judah were evil in the sight of God, many evil deeds were done to take the throne and not many were actually anointed by prophets. so include Zedekiah or not !
That was just a tidbit nolidad...not a bone of contention. The point being the throne was not handed down by Coniah, therefore Zedekiah isn't valid.

Hi ebedmelech,

Yes we have established that the Lord is at the right hand of the Father, however the Lord says that He will have His own throne, so that is NOT the Father`s throne.

I actually asked - `WHEN does Ps. 2 say that the Lord will be reigning, operating in His great power & authority over the nations?` Care to answer that? Thank you.

Well Marilyn, if you can't see it in the references I gave you, I can't help you to see Jesus is "reigning and operating in His great power and authority over the nations".

Let's look at Matthew 28:18 where Jesus tells the 11 "All power has been given to me in heaven and on earth". Jesus puts this statement in the past tense, meaning He has received all power. Your response is that He's not exercising that power right now, yet we clearly see throughout Acts, Jesus intervening from heaven to help the apostles in spreading the gospel. A prime example is Jesus appearing to Saul and making Him an apostle.

I've given you passages that clearly say Jesus is seated at the Father's right hand...I asked you "what do you think He's seated on?"...but you have no response for that. Obviously I can't convince you on this matter, so I'll leave it with you.

Well Marilyn, if you can't see it in the references I gave you, I can't help you to see Jesus is "reigning and operating in His great power and authority over the nations".

The nations that reject Christ and promote false religions and false gods? The nations that kill Christians whenever they wish? If he was actually reigning over the nations then he's doing a terrible job. The truth is he is not exercising over the nations because the nations are doing whatever they wish to, following evil and wickedness in rejection of Jesus. That's because Christ said the ruler of this world is satan, John 14:30.

According to scripture, the rod of iron reign over the Christ rejecting nations doesn't even begin until Christ returns. Only at that time will we see the real and effective rule with a rod of iron. No nation will be able to reject Christ or kill anyone as they will be strictly governed. The future thousand years will be a Christian theocracy and not the disaster of a world that we have now and have had for such a long time.

Hi ebedmelech,

I do agree with you as to the Lord having all authority and power. We agree also that He is at the right hand of the Father using this great authority and power to rule over the Body of Christ, interceding for us, building, and maturing His Body of believers.

However......we do not see the Lord operating His rulership over the nations just yet. ewq said it very well.

Now you never answered my question even though I asked twice, but you kept evading behind scriptures we both agree on, that the Lord has all authority and power. Yet you don`t give any scripture to SHOW when or HOW He is or will rule over the nations. So let me help you...

Ps. 2: 1 - 9 `Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves against the Lord and against His anointed, saying, "Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us."

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision, then He shall speak to them in His wrath and distress them in His deep displeasure; "Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion."
`"I will declare a decree; The Lord has said to me, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you. Ask of me & I will give the nations for your inheritance and the ends of the earth for your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter`s vessel."

So we see that this is yet future when the nations, the kings of the earth go (together) against God. Then we shall see the Son taking His inheritance and ruling over the nations.

Marilyn.

Maryilyn, it's interesting you go to the Psalms attempting to make your point. However, I would ask you why then would we find those very Psalms quoted in the New Testament?

Peter quotes Psalms 110:1 at Acts 2:34 to prove it's speaking of Jesus, and then goes on to say God has made Him Lord and Christ. This means Jesus is in position now running all things.

Then there's Hebrews 1...just start with vss 1-4:
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

Those statements are in the past tense...and they cleary say Jesus was appointed the "heir of all things", that He "upholds all things by the word of His power". IOW...Jesus is running the world, and has been since His resurrection

The writer then goes on quoting from Psalms 2, 97, 104, 45, 102, and 110 in that order, to show Jesus has fulfilled them.

Now, it's obvious I can't convince you nor ewq1938, despite several scriptures that clearly say Jesus is ruling right now. It's going to be something you both will either come around to understanding...or when Jesus returns, you'll clearly see.

BTW...what does it mean to pray "in Jesus name"? Jesus told the apostles to ask the Father "in His name" in John 14:14...what does that mean?

Or, she and I understand this correctly and it's you that don't despite all the scriptures presented and it's going to be something you will either come around to understanding...or when Jesus returns, you'll clearly see.

She and I have both proven the rod of iron rule over the nations hasn't yet begun and doesn't until the second coming occurs. The scriptures are clear on the timing of that specific rule. Any other rule or ruling is something else entirely that she and I already agree with you on. You have to get more specific to the rod of iron reign because that only starts in the future. It is not meant for now since only resurrected, immortal saints participate in it.

Time will tell ewq1938. Like I said you think it's future but you want to ingnore those scriptures that say Jesus reigns now. Start with Matthew 28:18. Why does Jesus say "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth" if that is not so?

Again...what does it mean to pray "in Jesus name"?

That's a misrepresentation. I know he rules now. I also know the specific rod of iron rule is not now. Please don't tell me I ignore any scriptures.

Both the end of Rev 2, and the last half of Rev 19 tell us the rod of iron reign is after the second coming. Any other mention of reining and ruling is pre-rod of iron reign.

Where does scripture show two different ways of Christ reigning and ruling? It doesn't.

I have already shown when the rod of iron reign starts which is not now so there are different types of ruling. Ruling without a rod of iron is different than with one.

What you've shown is what you believe are different ways of ruling.

Jesus rules now...and he decides what is needed to rule in His omniscience. Whether that will be discipline of people's or nations is His will being a accomplished. This is because He is ruling the nations with His rod of iron now.

Colossians 1:15-20 clearly shows that. We believers also know there's a time coming when Jesus is going to judge all. That will be because He and the Father's will...will have been accomplished as the passage says. Jesus is over all things whether they be "thrones, or dominions, rulers, or authorities...". Jesus rules it all!

Who says that? Ephesians 1:21 says Jesus rules "not only in this age, but in the one to come".

It's according to what Jesus' will is.

It appears both a "present age" and "coming age" are mentioned in the NT.

[Matt 24:3 mentions the "full consummation of the age". What age is that?]

Matt 24:3 "full end/consummation of the age"

Matthew 24:3
Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying "be telling to us!
when shall these be being?
and what the sign of Thy parousia<3952> and full-end<4930> of the Age?

"THIS GENERATION" in Bible

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon

(YLT)
"present age"occurs 3 times in 3 verses in the YLT.

1Ti 6:17
Those rich in the present age charge thou not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who is giving to us all things richly for enjoyment; --

2Ti 4:10
for Demas forsook me, having loved the present age, and went on to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia,

Tit 2:12
teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, soberly and righteously and piously we may live in the present age,

=========================

(YLT)
"coming age"occurs 2 times in 2 verses in the YLT.

Luk 18:30
who may not receive back manifold more in this time, and in the coming age, life age-during.'

Heb 6:5
and did taste the good saying of God, the powers also of the coming age,

No- In the millennial kingdom, people will have until they are 100 years old to receive Christ (these are those born during the millennial kingdom). If they don't then they are destroyed by Jesus.

He also will rule with a rod of iron! Stan will be bound for those 1,000 years so temptation will be vastly reduced- but if one sins- ti will be dealt with immediately!

This is because He is ruling the nations with His rod of iron now.

Not according to scripture. Scripture places the rod of iron rule after the second coming. It is not happening now because Christ has not returned to the Earth yet.
