He contributed to Christian videos with Acts 17 Apologetics after having left Islam after having grown up as a Christian. It's beyond me how someone can embrace Islam after having been shown how false the faith is on every level. Unbelievable.

This guy is really confused... I looked up his old blog, and it's been erased.

He was debating Islam as a new christian and got himself confused. You need time to establish Biblical knowledge before engaging in debate, and he was more concerned with debate and fame and blogging than with establishing his own relationship with God.

Maybe to a certain degree it's a problem many have. But he fell because of it.

Very sad to see.

1 Timothy 3:6 is good to keep in mind.

I don't know who that is, and I sometimes watch Acts 17 Apologetics material when they have a Middle Eastern Christian like Christian Prince or another person who is knowledgeable in the Qur'an and the Arabic language. Must've been before I started watching. Anyway, Lord have mercy.

He wasn't a new Christian. He was raised in the Church and left it. I think his issues are more racial and political by the remarks he was making.

Perhaps he caved to all the death threats because of his apostasy.

His reasons were weak and vague. He also didn't have any responses for Christian criticisms of Islam, specifically contradictions, corruptions in the Quran, corruptions and racism in the Hadiths, etc. I think his reasons were personal and if he were confronted with theological proofs he'd have nothing to say for himself.
He said he didn't like what he mistermed "alt right" conservative, anti-Islam sentiment among Christians. Oddly, he has nothing to say for rampant anti-Christian sentiment among Muslims. There was always a bias there and I don't think his coming back to Christianity from Islam was particularly legitimate. Muslims have been invading/attacking Christendom for 1,400 years. To fault Christians for having hard feelings is beyond the pale.

It’s possible the unity was a draw. The community and sense of oneness can be difficult to leave if you’ve experienced it.
Would that be Shia oneness, or Shiite oneness, or any of the other sect's onenesses?
They are as diverse as the so-called Christian churches.
But they kill each other.

Could be he saw that Christians can be perfect and he didn't really want to serve one God.

I have never practiced or studied Islam. But I am familiar with Judaism and dealt with a similar issue myself. However, I didn’t have to abandon my identity. I will always be Jewish and maintain a connection with the community.

But the differences in Islam and Christianity may make it difficult for him to do the same. It could boil down to one or the other.

I believe it’s best to give our attention wholly to God when we accept Christ. You need time to learn and grow in His presence. I spent years at His feet before I received my call and mission. You have to learn how to stand before you fight.

And thankfully God isn't stingy about furnishing all we need to serve Him completely.

Perhaps he couldn't handle all the "Christian privilege" we all get?

being raised in the church doesn't make a person Christian, and it doesn't mean someone even understands the faith (as evidenced by his leaving Christianity for Islam).

When someone doesn't know Jesus or our Christian faith, the point at which they understand it, have belief and declare Jesus Lord (holds what is often termed a "saving faith") makes them a "new" Christian, and from that point forward they learn more and more and grow in the faith.

A person who is saved after years of exposure to Christianity might learn and grow faster than someone coming from outside the faith, but I would definitely term both as new Christians, because your not Christian just because your parents made you sit in a pew.

He shouldn't have gotten death threats. Someone who is born Christian and goes back to the Christian faith isn't seen the same as a born Muslim who apostasizes.. only the born Muslim is under a death penalty, and usually only for proselytizing because in an Islamic state it's a treasonous political act.

Outside of that it's a matter of family honor, and a convert doesn't have those issues.

But this guy is a western convert who went back to the faith he was born into? There shouldn't be any issue at all I wouldn't think, even proselytizing except from a few crazies (which might be more prevalent today than usual, I don't know..)

If one leaves their current religion for one that looks/sounds better, this process can repeat over and over again, for a lifetime. If one leaves to find God, this will be the last choice they make....for all who seeks, finds and once found, set free....never again to be entangled in an yokes of bondage.

Perhaps he stumbled across some of the rainbow flag "morality" promoted under the name of Christianity here and said "hey, those guys really are the great Satan"?
