• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello.
Please could I ask for prayers for my ongoing tinnitus and vertigo symptoms.
The tinnitus is particularly bad this morning and I have feelings of nausea. Last night, when I lay down in bed, I had feelings similar to motion sickness which means I am unable to get to sleep even though I feel tired.
Thank you.

Is it Meniere's disease? If so you may want to visit your ENT specialist right away. My low pitch tinnitus in left ear is constant and disequilibrium (labyrinthitis or other Eustachean tube dysfunctions) was controlled with exercise (vestibular tube rehabilitation). The doc prescribed Cinnarizine, but I didn't really need it as I had no rotational (spinning) vertigo. A BPV (Benign Positional Vertigo) test will also be conducted by your ENT specialist to determine if it's vertigo or just disequilibrium. If you have severe rotational vertigo then it's certainly Meniere's disease which can be controlled via medications/surgery. Neuroplasticity (listening to relaxing music) can rebuild your brain cells and create new neural pathways eliminating/reducing tinnitus. Be sure to talk to your doctor before exercising or listening to tinnitus relief music. Both have worked quite well for me. My prayers and peace in Christ.

Hi Mukk_in. It's very puzzling! You're right, the symptoms do seem to be more along the lines of Meniere's Disease since i have tinnitus in both ears, a sense of fullness in the left ear, and prolonged episodes of nausea/vertigo like symptoms which is controlled well with cinnarizine and which I can get as an over-the-counter medication. I saw the ENT consultant at Wolverhampton who carried out the tests you mentioned, as well as a hearing test which confirmed a small amount of hearing loss in the left ear. Surprisingly, he thought it was more BPPV than Meniere's. I told him I got relief by doing the Epley manoeuvre, but he recommended doing the Brandt-Daroff exercises. I've managed to get back to sleep this morning and the symptoms seem to have subsided now.
