In July of 2015 I had a dream and God Almighty from the old testament spoke to me in my left ear and said "Cardwell, return to Christ, I'm watching you" right after He said that, I made a U-turn in the long white hallway that I was walking down in the dream. As I walked up the other direction, I looked down at my right hand and a cigarette fell from between my fingers and I had a shocked look on my face. Then I woke up shouting to everyone in the house that God spoke to me in a dream. My question is why would God call me by my maiden last name? Is it because I'm divorced? Also when He said return to Christ He's watching me, Does that me I'm going home? Or does that mean He is giving me a second chance? Please advise. PS please forgive me, I'm still trying to figure out how this forum works.

Great question. It may be because the Lord knows you intimately. He may also be advising you to get rid of harmful habits. I know that the Lord would speak to me this way when my time came, "but even if I'm being poured out like a drink offering..(Philippians 2:17)". That's how Paul knew his time was at hand. Hope that helps. Peace in Christ.

If your told in a dream 4 years ago to return to Christ what did you do for the last 4 years?

Have you returned to Christ?

Turning around and walking the other way is showing repentance.. letting go of an addiction after coming to Christ is natural... I felt convicted to quit smoking after I was saved.

But what confuses me, is that God is talking to you like your only backslidden? What kind of an experience with God did you have prior to this?

And why, if God called you home 4 years ago, didn't you rush to praise God and come home at that time, if you truly thought God was asking you home?

That said, every single day we are alive, is a day we can return to Christ. Every single day we are alive, is a day we can repent. Every single day we are alive is a day we can seek the Lord wholeheartedly..
Yes I am doing all that I can to return to Christ. I read God's word daily and repent every single day for my sins. Before this happened, I was being faces with many fears at my job site. I am a security officer and was working the nightshift all alone. I saw orbs flying around in the cameras and noises all over the roof and hot door knobs. I felt like I was being attacked by evil spirits. So I ran staright into God's arms by listening to His Holy Word on my Bible. Is app on my phone. Then the orbs left and all of my fear went away. This all started in Feb 2014. Then Oct 26, 2014 I saw a golden mass coming out from underneath a fire riser door and it was trying to shape into something and again I got scared. So I ran out of the building and called my sister crying. When I say "come home" I mean going back to God as in dying. Please tell me what you think

There's only one way to return to Christ and that is believe. Romans 10:9

Stop putting your faith in the works of your hands and believe in Christ for your salvation. Believe in His finished work. Christ didn't do a partial work - salvation isn't Christ did some of the work for your salvation and it's up to you to finish it, NO. Christ said on the cross "it is finished".

He did all the work. It is a perfect and complete work. Nothing you do can add to it, nothing you do can make you worthy of Salvation. As Jesus said, there is none good except God.

Belief alone is required for salvation

Anything we do after that belief, we do out of love, enabled by Christ to do so because of His love in us.

Do you have it inside of you to trust Christ alone for salvation, and not yourself?

In the Bible we see the story of Jesus performing the miracle of the loaves and the fish. The very next day Jesus said to the gathered crowd:

Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” (John 6:26–27)

Then they asked Him how they could work to please God. He replied, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent” (John 6:29).

(God isn’t looking for workers. He’s looking for believers.)

So stop whatever your doing to be saved, first of all.. and believe in Christ's finished work - not in yourself... you aren't good enough, no one is, to get yourself into Heaven. Christ is the only one who can do it for us. He is the Messiah, our Savior.

Once you figure that out, the rest will fall into place.

If you ever find yourself doubting, or feel as if you dont have the fullness of belief, ask God to help you with your unbelief.

Mark 9:23-24

Jesus said to him, you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; now help my unbelief!”

God speaks to us every day all you have to do is listen. Now your maiden name makes sense as someone said before marriage does not exist in heaven. God is awesome I left him or tried to leave him for eight years as an athiest until I literally felt his overwhelming presence over me one day it wasn't a angry ffeeling but an enveloping feeling of love... God is great.

Thank you so much. Your kind words really help me. I guess a lot of the time I feel like my whole family is under conviction and are under attack. My daughter (24) started having seizures and everyone in my family feels so depressed. Jesus said this is the beginning of sorrows and I believe Him. All of the stress really got to me so of course, what do I resort to? smoking a cigarette. I feel like a backsliding Christian. I try to tell my family of Catholics about Jesus and every time I get shut down. Do I keep trying? Do I leave it alone? There's not one day that I don't think about that dream, hearing God Almighty's precious voice. That dream is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love You Lord Jesus. I'm feeling condemned because of the smoking. Lord Jesus please take this from me. Help me Lord!!!!

Yes I am doing all that I can to return to Christ. I read God's word daily and repent every single day for my sins.
It sounds like you’ve already been putting in the effort to develop a personal relationship with God. In fact, if you think about your dream:
"Cardwell, return to Christ, I'm watching you" right after He said that, I made a U-turn in the long white hallway that I was walking down in the dream.
It showed you making a U-turn (returning) after being told to do so (that's right - your returning was in the dream!). As for "I'm watching you" this seems to be a friendly reminder that God does, indeed, see everything we do - very reassuring, if you think about it: we never fall through his fingers and out of sight! I would NOT read connotations of death into this, whatsoever.

Also when He said return to Christ He's watching me, Does that me I'm going home?

When I say "come home" I mean going back to God as in dying.

There's not one day that I don't think about that dream, hearing God Almighty's precious voice. That dream is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I believe it. So why are there now feelings of guilt and thoughts of death/doom connected to it...? I think if you look over you post talking about the supernatural incident/s you experienced as a security officer, the answer becomes clear - in fact, you said it yourself:

I saw orbs flying around in the cameras and noises all over the roof and hot door knobs. I felt like I was being attacked by evil spirits.

It is common for someone being harassed by demons to have feelings of guilt, feel unworthy no matter what they do or even to question their salvation - even when they know better. When someone nasty criticizes us to our face, it carries an emotional impact and can make us doubt ourselves - even when we know they are wrong. Just image the guilt and pain a nagging adversary can cause - especially an invisible one, since it would be a subconscious attack (or even interpreted as our own thoughts!). But before you start feeling guilty about being harassed by demons: it does NOT mean that you have done something wrong or "something to deserve it". Many times, people are attacked because they are doing something GOOD, are moving in the right direction and getting closer to Christ or doing something they (the evil spirits) just don't want that person to do (again, usually something good). It is believed Paul's "thorn in the flesh" was demonic harassment and righteous Job's story is covered in the Book of Job. Even in cases of full blown possession, it is often not because the person "did something to deserve it" (severe abuse can lead to such a situation). That being said, I don't want you to worry too much about possession, either - remember, God is in complete control and they can only do what he permits (and he has a reason for everything).

The best comparison I've heard is that of demons to bacteria: they are invisible and everywhere and you're going to come in contact with them eventually - but we shouldn't (and indeed, don't) have to live in fear of them. I believe that was from Neil T. Anderson's "The Bondage
Breaker - Overcoming -Negative Thoughts -Irrational Feelings -Habitual Sins" .

I highly recommend you read it. It is a thoroughly Christian book, conservative in it's views, recommended by professors from theological schools (including Talbot's and Fuller) and pastors (one being a Baptist). It is the best, most helpful and practical book I have found so far.

I'm not certain if it is at your local library, but you will probably want a copy for yourself and they can be found on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Bondage-Breaker®-Overcoming-Negative-Irrational/dp/0736975918/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=the+bondage+breaker&qid=1562711304&s=gateway&sr=8-2

I can't stress it enough - please give this book a browse - especially with the experiences you have had, this should help a lot.

The prayer Jesus taught is also an effective means of defense - the "Our Father", when said thoughtfully and not in route (that is, as a mere recital), clears out spiritual garbage leading up to an empowered "and deliver us from evil". You can also rebuke evil (as Jesus, apostles and the Archangel Michael did) by telling him to go/leave you alone in the name of Jesus Christ which is EXACTLY what I would do if you are harassed with apparitions again. I can tell you from the experience of multiple people, including myself, that this works - though you may have to say it more than once to get across that you mean it (the power, of course, comes from God). Once they realize they can't scare/influence you they will most likely stop with the theatrics. Remember again, that they can ONLY do what God permits, so most of it is show (especially when you are a security guard, alone in a dark, empty building). I have had more than one possessed person complain that they couldn't touch me - that's the power of God, and you're on his team! You've probably heard of the Biblical "Armor of God" before - it's strong stuff!

I try to tell my family of Catholics about Jesus and every time I get shut down
There are Catholics who are very close to Christ, however, since I don't know your family and their relationships with God (only God truly knows that) I will say: we must remember that, in the end, it is God who truly turns our hearts toward him - we can only plant that seed of truth and pray it takes.

Remember, God loves you and he knows what is in your heart - the love you have for him, and all your efforts to be close to him.

Sometimes life seems like a perfect storm, but it's not always connected. Lots of people have seizure disorders, just use your faith in Christ for the strength to get through the difficulties..

Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

When Jesus said "This is the beginning of sorrows" He was talking about the second coming, it wasn't a general comment about accepting Christ as Lord and Savior.

Psalm 86:5

"For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You."

Until you trust Christ for your salvation and are in a good place, it's not a good idea to worry about other people and the state of their relationship with God. Just get you right and don't worry about your family right now.

When life gets hard we all have a tendency to feel like we have hit a wall, but often it's just feeling and as such, more reflective of our emotions rather than the truth. In this way out feelings can be deceptive. Your having a lot happening in life, but God is with you to strengthen you..

What church are you going to? Are you attending a mainstream church? I think anyone new to faith really should make sure they are attending a mainstream church of some kind..There are small doctrinal differences in the different denominations, but on the basics most will agree on everything.

That can change when you get into these small little off the wall churches, and some of the differences can be drastic (and unbiblical at times), so it's always the safest bet to stick with large mainstream churches like Lutheran or Presbyterian until you have a solid understanding of how to understand scripture...

Are you attending a church?

Church is important for being around other Christians as well.

As for smoking cigarettes, quitting isn't something for you to need to worry about right now. For now, learn more about salvation and learn to trust in Christ...

stressing over smoking is just another point of stress atm when your main need right now is developing a relationship with Christ.

No I am not attending any church right now. This may sound like an excuse but I work on the weekends and the service last longer than I can stay. I know I need to try HARDER because your right, I do need to be going to church. I do know that it will help me a lot. You sound like a true honest Christian and friend and I appreciate your help very much. I know the Lord speaks to me just through sudden thoughts, but sometimes it is still hard for me to know if it's my thoughts or thoughts from the Holy Spirit. I'm a babe in Christ, I've always was a believer but for most of my life I was swimming in sin and not living the life of a Christian woman. It wasn't till I was 53 years old that I was called by God and ever since then I live in His word and pray and just talk to Him all the time. I've been in His word since Feb 9, 2014. Thank you for your words of wisdom and kindness. I have so much more to discuss but don't want to overload. God bless you my dear friend.

First, you should never post personal information online.. it's dangerous - you should delete that.

Second, your not yet trusting Christ alone for your salvation to my knowledge? Not in Christian fellowship to my knowledge? and still in bondage, as clearly stated by yourself.

Yet, despite all of the above, what are you trying to say here, that your some kind of prophet?

Be wary of putting a lot of faith in dreams and visions that aren't leading you to a total and complete faith in Christ which frees you from bondage..

Satan can easily deceive, so you have to have a full, clear and correct knowledge of scripture along with the ability to use reason to discern what is from Christ and what is not..

It's too important. Remember the Lord Lord verse.. Matthew 7:21-23

I'm not saying your not a Christian - that would be against forum rules and quite rude. I am just trying to caution you so that you will employ discernment though it all..

I'll keep you in my prayers.

I need a dream interpreter
Only God can interpret dreams. You can read of this in the book of Daniel. You must pray without ceasing and God will reveal the meaning of the dream. I have had 2 distinct dreams and I pray for the meaning of them everyday. But nothing yet from our Lord. It's been 4 years ago that I had those dreams. If you try to search for an interpreter, most likely they are fortune tellers. We want to keep clear of those things. So we must continue to ask only God what the dream meant. Keep praying my friend

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this response. You are absolutely right. I must remember how much God loves me. This helps me tremendously!!! I guess the more bad things would happen, I was thinking I must be doing something wrong. But you are absolutely right, perhaps I am doing things that are right and that's why it feels like I have so much coming against me. I really appreciate your response. Thank you SO MUCH.

Thank you for your prayers. Yes I am a Christian or I would not be on a Christian Forum. I am a Christian in the middle of some serious spiritual warfare. Yes I do know that I need clear and correct knowledge of scripture, this is why I read. I'm having a hard time with discernment. This is why I am here is to get some help from other Christians, as well as praying everyday for discernment. But to be honest by you saying "I'm not saying your not a Christian" kinda tells me that you think I'm not. So with that being said, you have a blessed and wonderful day.
