• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was in a car accident recently. The other driver was faulted. I am pregnant as well. I went to ER for ultrasound and they gave me an IV bag because my potassium was low. Anyway, I receive a bill for nearly 2000 I'm kind of annoyed. I'm going to send it to my lawyer or just call the billing department and say did u even try to run this through Medicaid before just mailing me a 2000 bill because I gave you my insurance card at the hospital.

Same thing with prenatals. I've had a hard time getting prenatals. The pharmacy tried to tell me yesterday oh your Medicaid plan doesnt cover prenatals. I think that's a load of it. I'm a certified pharm tech. I used to work insurance claims as well for pharmacy. I think the pharmacy doesn't know which specific drugs code to run through their computer to get a paid claim. So now I have to call Medicaid and find out what code they want the pharmacy to run. If Medicaid tries to tell me they don't cover my prenatals I'm raising you know what.
I will file a grievance because to me thatd be insane. I mean if your offering to help poor people a pregnant mom needing prenatals seems like it would be too priority along with providing medical care for children.

Not to sound entitled but this nonsense get me hot. Arizona is such a terrible state. And healthcare in the U.S. don't even get me started. It's ugh. Not sure if you guys heard but Hacienda healthcare is being allowed to stay open in Arizona after a woman who was incapacitated was raped multiple times by staff and gave birth and another patient was found with maggots. If this doesn't say anything to you about this jaded healthcare system I don't know what does.

Several years ago I had a panic attack. My heart started racing out of control. I drove myself to the emergency room of a hospital. A small voice inside me told me it would be better to check into a hotel instead. While I waited in the lobby, my heart rate slowed a little, but was yet pounding in my chest. The staff put me on a drip IV and monitored me for two or three hours. The panic subsided. I got a bill for $4000, if I remember right. Then I thought it was God telling me it would be better to spend the night in a hotel. I wished I had not gone to the ER. Rest in bed would have cured me. I had no insurance.

Some time later I had an infection and went to a walk-in clinic. It was much cheaper than the ER less than $300 I think. Now I have Obamacare.

You might try to collect medical expenses related to the accident from your auto insurance company or the other driver's insurance company. You should always exchange insurance info at the scene of an accident, take photos if you can and call the police if the accident was on a public road. In one state the police do not get involved if the accident was in a shopping center parking lot. Some lawyer(s) might want to represent you for free. I heard their ads on TV.

Agreed on medical stuff.

The bill you received doesn’t surprise me at all. When I had my daughter - if you add together premiums + deductibles + copays I spent in excess of $25,000 out of pocket that year. My son a few years later - probably closer to $27,000.

I'm so sorry to hear this. The driver who hit you should reimburse you. For Medicaid issue, I think it's best to file a grievance.

You are already dealing with a lot and don't need more stress. I pray that God provide for you and protect you and keep you away from further stress.
