1 Corinthians 16:14 (NASB)
Let all that you do be done in love.

“Let all that you do be done in love”

This bar is so very high. To strive to fulfill this command. To consider everything we do by this directive. Every thought we think, every motion of our wills, every longing of our hearts. Let all that be done in love. When someone insults us, or passes judgement on us. Or finds this or that fault in us, whether it is real or perceived. Do we wish only good and love on them? Do we hope all good things towards them.

Let all be done in love.

When we pass judgement on a person, is it in love? When we have a difference of opinion, do we prefer our brothers over ourselves? Do we take the lowest and most humblest spot and trust God in the situation? Do we give up our ways and wishes, for those that Christ died for.

1 Corinthians 13:6 (NASB)
Love~~~~does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

Do we rejoice in righteousness? Do we long for the truth to be manifested in all things?

Is love for all people, that which our hearts long after.

Let all be done in love.

Is this our hearts desire? This bar is so very high. But God has promised to make this heart, our hearts. Oh, that this would be a living reality in our lives. That today we might love a little more than yesterday and tomorrow even more than today.

So that this command to;

“Let all that you do be done in love”

Would be true in our hearts. That our hearts would crave after that it would be true.

Love, truth, righteousness.

Pursuing these things, in all we do, produces the fruit of such, which is joy and a peace that passes all understanding.

To give up ourselves to pursue love, righteousness and all good things in all circumstances and situations. To have a heart that would crave after such things and only such things.

To love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

To not favor the poor man or the rich man but to show love and righteousness to all.

For God is love, let us pursue love in all things, so we are pursuing God in all things.

Blessings,

Much love in Christ, Not me

Amen to this.

If I may share a small bit of my testimony, this is the very thing I had been searching for most of my life. I had been lied to by the world about the nature of love and what it is. I fell into such despair, my spirit in anguish as I contemplated suicide. God heard my spirit in this situation twice, and it took the second time for me to really listen to Him. He answered my question regarding truth and what it truly is, including love: 1 John 7-21 :yellowheart:

Amen to the OP.

One of our scripture readings for today was,

Galatians 5:1 & 13-25

1.For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.
13.
Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, divisions, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Thanks for sharing. Blessings to read. For it is so true, God does have a why of hearing and answering, that is beyond our imaginings.

If and since God is love - doesn't that verse mean that all should be done in God?

Jesus said He did and said only what the Father told Him. So even He didn't decide what the loving thing to do but let the Father guide Him and He let the Father do His work through Him. God is one, and are not we supposed to be one with God? Jesus did pray that we would be one with Him like He was one with the Father.

When the Lord came into my life I obvious felt I needed to get to church. I picked a church that focused on be loving and considered themselves extremely good at it. It turned out to be by far the most unloving Christian church I have ever gone to. Christians can and often do boast about their love, but I prefer those that truly know the Lord, because if then they start getting something wrong, and we all do at times, the Lord can point it out to them. But if a person is leaning on their own understanding of love and what is correct, they will surely not even know when they are getting it horribly wrong!

My friends - if you want more love in your life, get that deeper relationship with the Lord. A relationship with Him means getting to know Him - so talk to Him and listen to Him!! Ask Him about things, and don't lean on your own understanding!! Don't even lean on our own understanding of what is the right and loving thing to do. Still, you are going to get it wrong at times. If you try spending time listening to Him, He can correct you and find ways to use you in love.

You know - the bar is really not that high and not that tough to clear. Moses explained to the people:

Deut 30:11-14 For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach. It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will go up to heaven for us to get it, that we may observe it? … But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.

The command was about love. The people would say it was a high and difficult thing to get, and Moses knew it. But it is as simple as listening to the Lord who put His words in your mouth and in your heart!!

As far as that church, it was not really a very unusual Christian church, and there were some people there who truly did know the Lord. Yet as a church, they had it wrong and were unaware of it. I was about 40 when the Lord came powerfully into my life. I was new to all the things He was doing in my life. While at that church he gave me the gift of tongues. I obviously could see that church didn't have that gift on display so I would use it at church. It is strange enough as is. Yet I told some that what the Lord had done. They denied my membership (I was going through there membership procedure with about fifty others) but because of that. One of the really wonderful people there who was high up in the church told me it was going to happen. That was ok, I didn't need to be a member, but nobody like that type of thing to happen.

They also pulled me our of working with the kids, which I love and put in extra efforts, and they were really short on people to help. Again, I didn't need to help in that way but it was not the loving thing to do, but they didn't understand. They ask me to help in maintenance. I was never the handy man type, but ok, I did that. The head of it had me fixing things; mainly the chairs. The pastors, choir, and office personal would come in and go by and never could did I get a hello or any recognition of me even being there. It would make me laugh in a sad way as they would come into the sanctuary where I was fixing the chairs. I would look up thinking I would give them a quick hello but it was apparent they were intentionally ignoring me. Even the head of maintenance who had told me to fix the chairs never came by to talk to me or check on me.

After coming in once a week for a couple of hours and dong that for a couple of months, I finished fixing and doing all the work assigned to me. At that time I asked the Lord what He now wanted me to do. He told me, "Karl, go home." And He told me another church He wanted me to go to. He never had me go there again. At the next church nearly everyone there had a close personal relationship with the Lord and spent time listening to Him. It was the best church I had ever been to. I learned that really knowing the Lord made all the difference!

Yes, scripture does say that “God is love”

I thank you for a bit of your testimony. Was a pleasure to read. My heart smiled at your frequent use of the words “close personal relationship” for in this relationship is the learning and growing of all things.

Blessings as we feed and grow our close personal relationships with Christ, so that we might be pleasing to Him in all things.

Much love in Christ, Not me
