Unless I travel for more than about three nights, my two cats stay in my house alone when I’m away. I always ask my Guardian Angel to check up on them from time to time. I have always felt that someone is watching over them when I’m not there.

I was recently told that guardian angels are to watch over humans, not our four-legged companions. While I don’t agree with this, I thought I’d post it to see what others thought.

I think that idea is pure poppycock

I daily pray for the Lord to bless and protect my family and those creatures He has given me stewardship of.

Who are you calling Guardian Angels? We have and pray to One Protector, who is the King of angels, I do not believe in praying to angels because none of them are God.
Psalm 91 tells us "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." Those are Guardian Angels. I don't pray to my Guardian Angels, but I do talk with them. I have walked away from two auto accidents that, by all rights, should have killed me. Both times I offered prayers of thanksgiving to God, but I also said a simple thank you to my angels for watching over me.

I might agree with you if you had asked this question about dogs.

Cats...they're playing for the other team.

Fortunately I know you aren’t being serious.

It seems unfair to the cats not to have some human contact. I would not leave mine alone for more than one day. Can't you find someone that can go over and check on them briefly and give them fresh water and scoop the box?

If I’m gone for more than three nights I leave them with my mom. My problem is that my big guy (25 lbs) likes to run out the door and explore the outdoors. I can get him back inside because he will come to me, but he won’t respond to others. I had a friend look in on them one time and he got out; it took her over an hour to get him back inside. I put out lots of food, I have a kitty fountain for water along with a couple extra water bowls and three litter boxes.

I’m jumping in. This sounds like child like faith... and ya know what? That’s the goal of every follower of Jesus per Jesus!

I say... keep praying for your fir babies and maybe remember mine, too.

That sounds reasonable and I am sure you are a good pet owner.
