I'm a caregiver of 4 people. With a background of geriatric care. I know it can be stressful. But destroying another life is never the solution. There is no reason to debate this in a Catholic forum. I have a mother that has had 5 abortions. It is not the answer. It is just what one thinks is convenient at the time with little thought of the repercussions in the future.
. The chronic Stress from being a caregiver can kill you . This is a well known fact which is why people have HHAs to help . And even then it’s too much for some people.

Look- The baby could be adopted out, fostered, whatever. The Grandmother is most likely perfectly capable of caring for her grandchild. This is a decision to kill. Against the family's wishes. This completely oversteps the bounds of decency across the board. She has family. She wants to have the child. And family is willing to raise the child. I really do not know how some people sleep at night.
Absolutely forced abortion for any reason in a free democratic society(or any where) should never happen! I'm surprised not to have heard more about this.
This is a huge human rights abuse.
Here in the U.S. during the 20's and 30's some states forcibly sterilized those who were "feeble minded" had disabilities, etc. Look up Supreme Court Case Buck Vs. Bell. It was repugnant then, but a young woman being forcibly aborted for being mentally challenged is even worse. Just imagine the slippery slope.

Agreed. I thought about those cases back then when I read this. Forced sterilizations were implimented too.

Yes. My stepdaughter and her husband adopted a special needs child, found out about it through her church. The mother was mentally disabled, the father(they were married) absent. The parental rights were terminated. My stepdaughter does an awesome job but it is a challenge. He has to be fed through a feeding tube. I am proud of her.
I don't think I could do it. Maybe I would rise to the challenge.
Perhaps we don't have the whole picture but it is frightening to think of forcing any abortion.

Forced Abortion Decision Overturned on Appeal, According to Reports

While this sounds like good news on its face, unfortunately, there seems to be much overstepping government and that healthcare system in how these things work there with little hope for overturning the decision.

Lord help us.

Despite the petition, pro-life Members of Parliament acknowledged there was little chance of a ministerial intervention

Lord have mercy.

Bumping this up for Chevy.
Thank you but I'm more confused now than ever. I thought the original ruling to force the abortion was halted on appeal. Was it only some sort of temporary restraining order?

That's the impression I get.
