Hello everyone again, I just wanted to talk about something that happens me sometimes, I can for example lay in bed and suddenly I say "God, help me"; just happens out of nowhere, I think it`s because people around me always complain perhaps, it`s a difficult thing to do anything with, I try to be a good person, I try to use humour, talk as much as possible and so forth, but I keep begging God for help though, when do you ask God for help for example?

I use to ask God for help 24/7 when I was more religious..... Since transitioning to more spiritual waters......I now thank God for already helping me, or for being my help....

Maybe you can try to replace your begging with gratitude and thanksgiving for the good that is already there......even when you may not see it as of yet....

So now you doubt the existence of a god more or something, yes I try, thanks so much for the advice

I ask more so for mercy.

Typically I ask God for help not only for rescue, but also for guidance, for strength of faith. Something about knowing God is with me always, I don't see him as just someone that I just call for emergencies, but more of a Father figure.I know that i am not perfect, nor will i ever live life perfect. So I ask God to have mercy on me as I go through my day to day, and also thank Him for the grace He gives during that time. Its more of a heart of gratitude, then of anxiousness because of what I know Jesus has already done for all of us and the relationship I have with Him.

By living in accordance to His will, i have already acknowledged His help, so I would not normally call for help since I'm already helped, if that makes sense.Maybe I would forget that, and call for help, and in that case He brings back His word to my remembrance to comfort me.

Think of it like a father, yes you would call him for emergencies, but that's more part of his attributes. You don't only call for help when addressing a dad, nor is it (or at least should be) the only thing you would think of him as. And if you're always around him, you would bring it up knowing that he will support and guide you, but not as a "save me, save me!" everytime, because he's already there.

That`s a really good attitude really, I try to be grateful also for everything and I try to show it also to people around me, do you really think Jesus did miracles like they sa he did?

"Be anxious for nothing, but by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make your requests to God and the peace of God that passes all understanding to keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

I think I would ask God for help in 2 cases:

1. I'm/Someone is facing a challenge I/they can solve but I/they need God's support.
2. I'm/Someone is facing a dilemma or a truly complex process and I/them need God to intervene.

(1) Here, challenge doesn't necessarily mean a moral puzzle, it can be a new day to start, a trip.. etc

(2) Truly complex process can be: A scenario where there is no "right" visible. That is, to get out you have to either lie or lie. Or when I'm being targeted by someone in my university that is, higher than me in position. Or when I do a lame mistake and notice that the consequences can be bigger than me but nothing is to be done about it on my end now.. etc

Nevermind, I mistunderstood :p
The point I think I was making is that we are all beggars under God. We have nothing that we have not received from Him. We have been blessed with every blessing in heavenly places, and all these blessings are gifts from God because we trust Christ.

Along with the gospel blessings that I have received, I am grateful for the material blessings as well, with a warm and comfortable home, clothes to wear, a part-time job to supplement my pension, a faithful and supportive wife, a reliable car that when it blew the head gasket at 210,000km the mechanic found and put a new motor in that had only 60,000km. Also, at my age (71) I enjoy good health, go to a supportive church, and have two very affectionate puddy cats, one who is up on the left.

All these blessings have come from the Lord, to whom I am very grateful. I found myself in a life situation in my 30s where I had nowhere to live except one room in a boarding house, and all my possessions in one suitcase, living in a city where I knew no one, and after asking God for help, He restored everything that I had lost - although it took around 8 years.

We can't command anything from God, and that is why I don't believe in the prosperity doctrine, positive thinking, visualisation, positive confession to get the things I need and want. The Scripture I quoted has been the key to receiving all the blessings I have mentioned. When we pray, the first thing that happens to us is that we receive the peace of God and are content to rest in where we are in our situation. As we rest in faith and peace, then it allows God to work His will for and in us. Then then Scripture comes real to us:
"Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you." "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

These things don't come by us trying to positively confess or using our faith as some sort of mind control, but to just enjoy walking with the Lord, fellowshiping with Him, and what He has for us is provided, His way, and in His time.

I can say that through all the ups and downs of my 53 years in the faith.

Is there anything specifically that triggers this? Is it a compulsion or is it just situational?
