The delusion of gender fluidity(transgenderism) that this ****insane*** generation has today is simply the logical outgrowth of cartesian dualism. That is what society gets when she embraces a false philosophy. Should have stuck with St. Thomas! Just wait a few years it will get even crazier then same sex "marriage" and transgender weirdos. Eventually the push will be to lower the age of consent and to also marry robots and animals and no one will see anything wrong with it. Heck many Episcopal and Methodist and UCC's may even sponsor such marriages as "all are welcome" and "God Still speaks". Maybe robots and pets will even be baptized eventually. Yet babies will still be killed in the womb.

Well, it might be that, but it has been quite awhile since Descartes--a long while during which this kind of thinking was, by and large, nonexistent.

Could it rather be that the rise of identity politics is a consequence of the trend towards legitimizing Marxism and, therefore also, its well-known policy of defining people by groups that they supposedly are part of and then pitting those groups against each other?

I agree that dualism is unlikely. I've recently looked a bit at Thomas on that subject. His arguments are so buried in obsolete concepts that it's hard for me to be sure what he's saying, but it may well be consistent with my own view.

However I don't see a connection with recognizing that some people are gay and transgender. These things have both biological and psychological aspects.

The article cited here simply assumes that recognition of transgenders depends upon dualism, and attacks dualism. Hence I don't find it all the useful.

Quite possibly. Marxism can't exist without "victim" classes to idolize, and "oppressor" classes to vilify.

Well, St. Francis blessed pets and a few others have since his time. However, the baptism of pets could be a long way off still. As for robots, let us hope that we never reach the point where they can think for themselves and request to be baptized.

So does false martyrdom. Finding the best way to help transgenders dates back well before the current cultural battle in which it's gotten caught up. It will continue independent of any politics, though political decisions can certainly make transgender people's lives better or worse.

There is no bottom of this crap heap. It will not stop until the earth rises up and casts, or rather vomits, us out of the land. The line is crossed when corrupt judges validate the evil which men do, and assist evil men in their sinning.
Pray that you escape the purge.

Regardless of what you think about welcoming people different than you, none of the faith groups you mention are anywhere close to the things you predict they may do in the future. What you suggest is both silly and unkind, and diminishes your argument.

That is exactly what they would have said 50 years ago about homosexual marriage, women clergy, and transgenderism. Just give it time there is nothing that the world or these liberal post modern Churches that are of the world won't accept as good and moral. I will bet my own life on it. Give it 30 more years and just see what they think is good and "acceptable". All are welcome even non repentant sinners well that is we just have to get rid of the idea of anything being wrong or a sin and then it doesn't matter. That's called relativism.

Have you really absorbed that little from all the discussions on gender and sexual issues? These are not random delusions. Gender and sex are very real things. Almost everyone has them. It’s been known since around the 1950s that there’s a spectrum of sexual desires. This fact has been visible in many cultures and even many species. There’s no such natural spectrum involving inanimate objects or animals. Not that no one has ever used these things for sex, of course.

Similarly, it’s been known since the 1950s and before that gender is a complex thing, involving not just external genitals, but a variety of biological, psychological and social aspects. For most people these things are consistent. For a few people they are not. Delusions that you are something absurd are simply not part of this phenomenon of gender.

Some of the arguments here sound like attempts to avoid coming to grips with what people are actually going through, and making fun of them instead. It's hard to believe that anyone would think this is proper behavior for a Christian.

Are you at all concerned for the young children that are being used to experiment on in service of the transgender movement? Camille Paglia, of all people--an atheist, lesbian and all-out Libertarian--has come out strong against this:

This aside, Scripture has NO encouragement for the sexual perversions, other than ESCAPE offered through Christ Jesus. The "compassionate" worldlings pushing fringe behavior are really quite cruel. They will be in absentia when the consequences come due.
