I answered in another thread about how the current situation between the U.S. and Iran all seems to be some drama instigated by our wonderful and faithful LIC. He's pushed Iran's nose into the dirt and twisted it around a little bit and punched them a couple of times just because that's what gets his blood pumping in the morning. He loves chaos!!!!

Now, we've had four ships to be attacked, which he is blaming on Iran, but claims it's just a 'little thing'. They apparently have downed one of our drones, which they fully admit that they did and claim that it was flying over their airspace. His response to that is that it was a mistake and they really didn't mean to. Is this man for real????

He goes and gets the fur flying in a urinating contest and then when there are signs of retaliation, he just blows it all off. Really, that's what most Republicans think is solid national leadership?

As long as he avoids war, he still head and shoulders above Bush...

...actually as long we stay out of war, that's a reason to get down on your knees at night and thank the Lord above that we have Trump in the White House and not Hillary or ¡Jeb!. Otherwise this whole thing might well have meant WWIII.

Hi SOTK,

So, your position is that now that he's put us into this mess, it's a good thing he's here to get us out? Ok.

God bless,

This is all for the benefit of a small rogue nation at the east end of the Mediterranean sea which wants to bring Iran down, but can't afford the lives lost. The US of A can be tricked into anything, however.

a "rogue" nation?

Hi rlh,

Apparently, that position is not held by the other member nations. Tell me, what was so terrible about it?

You mean the money that belonged to Iran in the first place?
There were several reasons those assets were frozen. Here are just a few:

(1) they violated the sovereignty of our US Embassy in Tehran; (2) they kept US citizens hostage in said embassy for 444 days, and (3) Iran has used their national treasure to foment transnational terrorism.

Those assets and sanctions have been the only chips the West were holding.

And they wanted those assets bad enough to agree to cut back their nuclear program and agree to vigorous inspections.

The whole thing is a manufactured crisis he chose to get the US involved in. I think he was just doing it to spite Obama and pander to the Far Right. Now that it's gotten serious, he's starting to realize this isn't a game. But I think he doesn't really have the humility to do the right thing and admit he has made a serious error. So I suspect, unfortunately, there is a real likelihood of drawing the US into an unnecessary conflict with Iran.

Inspections? Sure the IAEA can inspect the sites Iran allows them to. Which does not include military sites. Iran has to approve inspections of military sites. That's why this was a bad deal.

He manufactured the attacks on civilian shipping and a downed drone?

No. He chose to pull out of the deal with Iran, as @miamited pointed out. It's part of his playbook of undoing Obama's perceived legacy. Trump really is that petty.

But as we know, they did neither. It was a bad deal. Likely some of that $ went to Syria/Hezbollah as well as Hamas for rockets to attack Israel.

Hi rlh,

And just what exactly does that have to do with the price of eggs in Afghanistan?

It would be nice if one could stick to the subject at hand. Of course, we could all say that it's really George Washington's fault. If he hadn't been in that darn war where we beat the British we'd still be British subjects and it would be Theresa May's problem.

The point, as I see it, we had a perfectly workable agreement with Iran. Other nations that are involved in the agreement, that are still upholding the agreement, have made the claim that Iran is doing, as far as anyone can tell, exactly what they were supposed to do to uphold their end of the deal. Now, President Trump has gone in, and I realize that his supporters aren't going to agree, but he threw out that deal and pretty much every other agreement that the U.S. is involved in because it had a name on the signature line: Barack H. Obama

Donald Trump is a man who cannot stomach anyone else getting any glory. It's all got to be about him. He's a narcissist. Classic case that you can use as classroom example. However, he's more narcissistic than even most narcissists. But suffice to say, this problem we're having now, stems from the actions of Donald Trump going in and reneging on a perfectly good agreement that, for all intents and purposes, was being upheld just as it was designed to be. He then, after reneging on the agreement, did his very best to make life insufferable for a nation of people. A nation of people who have just as much right as any one of us to be breathing God's air and living on God's earth.

But, I know, my account's all fake news. Got it! If it isn't how I see things or what I want to hear...it's all fake news. Got it!

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Hi YH,

I'd be interested in seeing your evidence on which you're basing your claim. Because that isn't what every other nation that was involved in the agreement. That's eight other nations that so far have supported the claim that Iran was living up to its agreement. Israel is the one nation that is not satisfied because they wanted more out of the agreement. They wanted Iran to allow that Israel had a right to exist and to stop being aggressive against Israel.

Now, please don't misunderstand. I'd like that Israel could live at peace with its neighboring nations also, but that isn't what this agreement was about. Knowing how the world at large feels about Israel, that was likely a point that the U.S. and Israel couldn't get enough support for from the other involved nations to make it into the agreement.

So anyway, I'm interested in seeing your evidence that they did neither of the things that they were supposed to do according to the agreement.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

I like the phrase, though. I always thought that people ran for president promising to remedy the failed policies of their predecessors, and that this is what !elections are about.

But "undoing _____'s perceived legacy" sounds more elegant.
