The gospel is "believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"...?

If a person is looking for eternal life.

I tell them like i posted before.

Believe that Jesus (of/in the New Testament) is the promised Messiah (Only begotten/unique Son of God) of Old Testament prophecies and trust in The Messiah for the gift of His eternal life, to anyone who believes in the Messiah for life.
And what if they tell us they don’t believe us. Or what if. They say why should they believe us if we are not certain ourself? How would you answer that?

As i understand it from The Gospel of John. It is not believe Jesus is the Lord or on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Which may impart eternal life.

But to believe that Jesus (of/in the New Testament) is the promised Messiah (Only begotten/unique Son of God) of Old Testament prophecies and trust in The Messiah for the gift of His eternal life, to anyone who believes in the Messiah for life
Actually the former is more Biblical by examples:

"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" Acts 16:30,31

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile— the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Rom 10:9-13

Interesting in that passage because "Lord" is being reference relative to an Old Testament passage which is talking about the Lord God. He's not simply the Messiah, He's the Lord God. This speaks not only of the deity of Christ being something one must believe to be saved, but also acknowledging Jesus as "Lord" means the person is pledging allegiance to do what he says, as Jesus said, "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?" Lk 6:46

How about the gospel preached to Cornelius?

Acts 10:36-43
You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen— by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

So again, Jesus is Lord is typically mention in gospel presentations in the Bible, as well as his resurrection from the dead.

What about confession and repentance for the remission or forgiveness of sins, ect...?

Being baptized, ect...?

What if one never fully dies to self perfectly in this life, IOW's...?

God Bless!
Like Peter said to Cornelius in Ac 10:43 "To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." And right after he said that, without doing anything Cornelius was saved as evidence by his receiving the Holy Spirit. Hadn't even been water baptized at that point.

Basically something to the effect if they do not want eternal life, i will not force the issue and will depart from them. On to looking for anyone who is looking for eternal life, to help them direct their faith toward/in the correct object

Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

But what if they do want eternal life but they want certainty. So they are truly hesitant but skeptical to believe anything that isn’t 100% certain. You would handle it the same way? So basically we would say I know were not 100% sure ourself but we want you believe as we believe?

The Gospel of John was written specifically to tell people how to have life (eternal life) 20:31 and in the Gospel of John.
Jesus states that He is the promised Messiah and by believing that, a person receives eternal life. When they trust in the promised Messiah for His gift of His eternal life.

In the Acts 10:36-43 you posted the last few words "everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

The (through his name) i strongly believe is That Jesus is the promised Messiah, Messiah is the name that verse is speaking about.

I know 100% that eternal life is given, by faith in The promised Messiah (Jesus).

You simply cannot make a person believe something, that is Gods role. We are call to given an accurate presentation of who to believe in.

The Bible presents evidence, when correctly taught then a person will either believe the evidence presented or reject the evidence. But either way accepting or rejecting you can not make that person do one or the other. The presenter has done their part.

So you equate one not believing your words....as not desiring eternal life? All should believe your talk concerning the future without question?

Folly,

What if the person encounters one from another religion first.....should they do the same for there words?

This was going to be my question as well. Thanks

If your 100% certain it wouldn’t be hard at all for you to change someone’s mind who believes something different. And they would most likely thank you for bringing them certainty and not your beliefs.

The problem is, truth cannot conflict with truth, and therefore if we have many conflicting beliefs, many of our beliefs are not true. Jesus said the truth would set us free, therefore how can we expect that accepting false beliefs will set us free? Which is why Jesus founded one Church, said it was to remain one, and promised that one Church "The Holy Spirit will guide you into ALL truth", and "WHATSOEVER you bind upon Earth is bound in Heaven", and "He who hears you hears Me". He didn't want us to have any false manmade beliefs, so He told us where we could find His truth and nothing but truth. Sadly, many people claiming to be His followers have defected from His Church, thereby abandoning His guarantee of the fullness of truth. The result - thousands of conflicting manmade denominations, each claiming to be teaching His truth, yet the teaching of each denomination conflicting with the teaching of the others, which necessarily mean widespread untruth. In the meantime, the one Church He founded remains one in belief, one in teaching, one in worship, one in biblical understanding throughout the world after 2,000 years. Nothing beats faithfulness to God's plan.

But they are not 100% certain either. If someone is 100% certain they no longer need to believe. Belief is what you need when your not 100% certain.

This thread is more about the gospel and what the gospel represents; what does the preaching of Jesus Christ mean in real terms?

This is not a thread about why your church should be considered the one true church.

This is the kind of distortion that just increases the difficulty of refining the true gospel.

Jesus Christ is the platform on which we stand.

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins through Him is what we preach.

We do not preach ecclesiology.

But it does matter. It matters that Jesus said that his hope is everybody would be one. Everybody is not one.... the original post is asking how people know who is right. Are you saved by this or are you saved by that. Is such and such also apart of the deal or not.... truthfully I don’t think anybody can claim to know for certain. Sure we have our beliefs but certainty has no need for a belief. So although I understand what your saying, I do feel most of what is talking about in the thread is still relevant.
