The gospel is "believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"...?

And that's it, that's the good news, however, questions come up, like "believe how" for one, maybe even "believe what" (about or with Jesus Christ) for another, and do we all have to believe or all believe the exact same thing when it comes to Jesus or God, or in having our Christian beliefs about God or whatever, do they have to be the same, or, can they be different?

Then, some will say if you are truly one of His, that confession and repentance must be involved or is a part of the deal as well, and they would be right, mostly or for the most part. We all pretty much agree and there is not much disagreement about the "confession" and confessing part, but, we get hung up and argue quite a bit and there is a lot of disagreement about the whole repentance and repenting part.

So can we resolve these issues or discuss them maybe....?

Is our salvation dependent upon right (or wrong) believing or not...? Or our (confession and) repentance or our being "repentant" in and throughout our lives, and which one is it, if it is...?

Comments...?

God Bless!
Salvation is being born again by the Holy Spirit, trust or faith is like breathing, when we first trust in God that way, it's like taking our first breaths in the new world.

It’s not enough to simply believe that Jesus was just a man (Jesus was God in the flesh - John 1:1,14) and it’s also not enough to merely believe “mental assent” that the death, burial and resurrection of Christ “happened.” That is merely believing in your head. We must also trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. That is believing in your heart.
What do we need to know in our hearts (about Him) (Jesus) (The Gospel) ect...?

Other than there was this man Jesus who claimed to be God who died and rose again, ect...

What do we need to know or believe about Him in our hearts?

God Bless!

And there is no more to it than that...?

Only trust and that's it?

And even if it is or was, how does one do that perfectly all of the time? And is that required? Or is 100% perfect trust required?

God Bless!

He was born of a virgin. He is the Son of God - (is God). He lived a sinless life. He died for our sins, was buried and rose again from the dead to provide for us eternal life.

Our part is believing that He is the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. Belief that does not continue (shallow, temporary belief) was never firmly rooted and established from the start.

Some will say that being saved for heaven or eternal life is relatively simple and easy, but what is more difficult is having a good, satisfying and fulfilling or happy life in this life...?

I just don't know if I am one of them or not yet...?

God Bless!

Can or should we judge, or tell, those who have or are continuing in their belief, and in a real, true, and genuine and right belief, from those who are not...?

Or not...?

God Bless!

Jesus said it perfectly, your work, is to believe in the one God has sent, meaning Him.

When we trust, this is like breathing, we breathe in the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit continually produces fruit in us.

That salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works (Ephesians 2:8,9) is not hard to understand. It’s just hard for many people to ACCEPT. Beyond that, living the Christian life in a world that is hostile towards Christianity, facing persecution etc., is not always going to be easy.

Some people make it more obvious than others that their belief is not firmly rooted and established in Christ alone, but ultimately, only God truly knows the hearts of everyone. Some people are very good actors. To the remaining 11 disciples, Judas Iscariot may have looked like the real deal, yet Jesus truly knew his heart said he is a devil! (John 6:70)

The only things i have come to attain by any kind of "mental ascent" or whatever, is that "I do not know"... I do not know how God is going to judge each separate and uniquely unique individual, whatever work or works or effort or efforts on their part might be required of or from them each individually or not, ect...? Or certain choices they might be responsible for, or not responsible for, ect. But, I do bet that it will be on a individual by individual basis, and that, we are not the judge or judges of anyone, not our own selves and especially not each other, but God alone is, but only that God could or might require some things from you personally that might be different from someone else, ect. And that we are not the judges and/but He is, and/or/because He is the one and only perfect judge who never errs or is ever in error, and that is about all I know...

God Bless

I do try to remember one thing though, and that is: "To whom much (more) is given, much (more) is (or may be) required"...

Believing is believing in Christ as the Son of God, who died for our sins, and Who rose again, and that whoever would believe in Him would not perish, but have eternal life.

In a way, the confessing (and thus the repenting) is so direct, clear at moments:

--------------------------------------------------------
When you do something seriously wrong...

Then you feel guilty.
--------------------------------------------------------

And we know that this is because the Spirit convicts us about sins.

But when we admit it was wrong (confess) humbly to God, we are cleansed and restored, and that's more of His amazing grace.

The Spirit helps us to regret our sin, and not want to continue in it. We feel bad that we sinned, and that sorrow over our sins, given from God, is a wonderful blessing.

2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while— 9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done.

I'd nitpick.

The Gospel is what God has done for us in and through Jesus, the call of the Gospel is to trust in Christ, but the Gospel itself is what Christ Himself is and has done.

The word gospel is derived from the archaic godspel, god ("good") + spel (word", "account", "tale"). The English translation from the Latin evangelium, borrowed from the Greek εὐαγγέλιον (euangelion), meaning "good report" or "good message".

In the ancient world one would go and send word, such as of the victory of a king or general, this "gospel" was received with celebration. So we see in the Priene Inscriptuion (c. 9 BC),

"It seemed good to the Greeks of Asia, in the opinion of the high priest Apollonius of Menophilus Azanitus: ‘Since Providence, which has ordered all things and is deeply interested in our life, has set in most perfect order by giving us Augustus, whom she filled with virtue that he might benefit humankind, sending him as a savior [σωτήρ], both for us and for our descendants, that he might end war and arrange all things, and since he, Caesar, by his appearance…. surpassing all previous benefactors, and not even leaving to posterity any hope of surpassing what he has done, and since the birthday of the god [τοῦ θεοῦ] Augustus was the beginning of the good tidings [εὐαγγέλιον] for the world that came by reason of him…"

For Jesus to speak of the good news of God's kingdom is to speak of the victory of God, God's reign come to earth; and this victory, this announcement finds its fullness in the life and person and work of Jesus--that by His death and resurrection there is salvation for the world. The Church proclaims this gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, of what God has accomplished in and by Him, for the world.

It is a good report, a good message, an announcement of something good, that good is what God has done. The invitation to then trust and believe is in that Gospel, and in the Subject of that Gospel, Jesus Christ. The Gospel is not a command, but an announcement; the call of the Gospel is to believe in it.

I think it is important to make a distinction between the Gospel itself, and the call of the Gospel to believe.

It may be a simple nitpick, but I think it's still a distinction worth mentioning.

It's about our sincerity ... sincerely want Him to work in our lives and change us. If so, we will have changes in our thinking and actions will change becoming more and more like Him.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9

Revelation 3:3

3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent

Confession + repentance = by His grace receive forgiveness and assured salvation

The Gospel is........that the battle is over, the war is won.....Satan is defeat.....Christ is victorious over death, hell and the grave....Heaven is open and ready to receive you. Believest thou this? If so, walk therein..... If not...continue to do what you believe is right and I will be waiting to receive you when you are ready to come....

Simple enough? Sometimes the hardest thing to do .......is nothing.
